to eat a pea because I feel sorry for it.

I have just eaten a cherry tomato that I didn't really want (last one, bit bruised and squishy) because I 'felt sorry for it' and thought it would be sad if it didn't get eaten like it's friends...

I often do this with peas as well.

And other small pieces of food

Confused

I try to tell myself that it's ridiculous "Jaded it's just food, it doesn't have feelings FFS"

But still I find myself adding the manky mushroom to the risotto so it doesn't feel left out.

Anyone?

I realised last night looking at these pictures of baby chameleons that I have a similar issues with anything (usually alive, but small toys count too) really really small.

How can they possibly stay safe? Who is looking after them? Can they be trusted? What if they forget and squish them?!

Whenever I have pets or children in my dreams they are always very small and the dream is taken up with keeping them safe and making sure they don't get lost.

Mad as a box of frogs...

Ha I'm so glad it's not just me . I cried recently because I threw out our old bath mat and got a new one . Dh spent the rest of the evening winding me up telling me the old one was out in the cold wondering what he did wrong.

CallMeExhausted · 14/03/2015 19:37

It is ok you resurrected it, it was getting lonely Grin

And, I must say it is one of the most amusing zombie threads I have read in quite some time.

tallwivglasses · 14/03/2015 19:36

This has reminded me of when I was little and totally believed all my toys had feelings. And similar to Toy Story, there was an Evil Child next door who was younger than me that used to tease me mercilessly about it. One time she tortured my dolls and bears to tease me and I made out I didn't care. As soon as she left I wept buckets, drew them all to my bosom and begged their forgiveness.

PHANTOMnamechanger · 14/03/2015 19:32

you're all bonkers, sweet and probably harmless, but definitely bonkers! Grin

TheArchchancellorsHat · 14/03/2015 19:28

I do this too! Grin It's because

EauPea · 14/03/2015 18:51

[Sad] If I promise not to cry can I live a while longer?

nicenewdusters · 14/03/2015 18:04

I love these threads that make your own personal weird into wonderful.

When I'm emptying things out of tins and packets I too can't bear to leave any behind. I think about the journey it's made to be in my kitchen (especially if it's flown a long way !!). It seems so unfair that it doesn't even get to be eaten.

I also used to feel a bit sad for my dd's dolls that she hadn't dressed. I didn't like to think they were being forced into public nudity. Toy Story has a lot to answer for !

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 14/03/2015 17:58

Gosh, there are others even more unhinged like me!

My contribution is that when I load the dishwasher I put all the forks together at one end of the cutlery holder and all the knives together at the other end. On the odd day when I have too many forks and space at the knife end, I always think the one or two forks that have to go with the knives are being very brave.

I could no more split socks up on the airer than I could fly in the air. Shock

limitedperiodonly · 14/03/2015 17:35

Oh no, I wasn't trying to correct you MumToFourCats.

I didn't notice that. Your post just reminded me of them. He said he even had the hippo's blue and white stripey pyjamas.

Charlotte3333 · 14/03/2015 17:31

When I empty out tins of kidney beans or anything of that ilk, I can't leave anything in the bottom because I'm worried they'll be lonely and sad without their comrades. DH insists it's deeply abnormal and unhinged, but I can't stop even if I wanted to (which I don't; what kind of awful person leaves a solitary bean in the pot to be lonely and lost in the recycling bin?).

MumToFourCats · 14/03/2015 17:28

limited

oops didn't notice my typo until you posted that! Grin

I can spell SILENT, honestly!

limitedperiodonly · 14/03/2015 17:12

Slientnight Hippo had his little duck with him.

A friend who was huge was married to a tiny woman and he bought her the Slumberland hippo and duck.

reallywittyname · 14/03/2015 15:54

I nearly cried this morning because I was thinking about my old car. He was tiny and bright red and lovely but he had to go because he wasn't big enough once I had had baby DD. He was replaced with big fat useful black car who I am polite to but don't love in the same way. When I sold him I told him I loved him and I would never forget him and to be good for his new owners. His little round eyes looked all sad when he was driven away (even though they had not changed in any way at all, obviously).
Sad
In my defence I am 24wks pg and incredibly hormonal.

Eliza22 · 14/03/2015 15:53

We're all bonkers! Love it! I scraped out the last sweet corn from the pan and ate it last night as I was loading the dishwasher as I didn't want it to go in the bin, on its own. IT seemed such a shame that this single sweet corn should be binned when the others had such a noble end together (in DS's stomach).

See? Bonkers Grin

Since first starting this thread, we have developed a family 'tradition' of getting all the soft toys that 'sadly won't be able to join us on holiday this year' and putting them in a circle on a picnic blanket whilst we are away. So that they get to have a good time too.

There was also so much debate about which toys could come that the DC now have a rota although I believe that some toys have queue jumped and others been twice in a row

DH won't have a single key on a key ring as it will have nobody to jangle with and keys apparently love to jangle and might feel sad if there only role in life was to serve the function of unlocking a door.

My soft duck and OH's teddy bear sit cuddled together on the bed in case they get lonely when we're out. I have just been in my daughter's room and made sure the Slientnight Hippo had his little duck with him. :)

I used to sort my daughter's bookcase so all the Noddy books were together, all the Thomas The Tank together, you get the picture?

limitedperiodonly · 14/03/2015 15:27

I'm glad you resurrected it.

I have have an upright wooden chest with two compartments. The lower one has doors in the side. But I rarely open the top because the door is on the top and has huge piles of crap on it.

In the upper bit are lots of childhood soft toys - plus a few I bought as an adult Blush. They are all sitting and placed so their faces look up if possible. They have friends to sit next to too.

I've just gone and looked at them after about two years because of this thread. I've left the lid open for a while so they can see out. It always makes me sad to close it and consign them to the dark but I can't have soft toys dotted around my house if I am to maintain the fantasy that I am a woman to be reckoned with.

They've got each other though.

Oh, there is one that's escaped the dark - a plush bat with wraparound wings that fasten with a press stud. He's clipped to the bed. My husband gave him to me for my 40th Blush

RandomNPC · 14/03/2015 15:27

Ha! I thought this was just me being soft in the head.

meglet · 14/03/2015 15:09

it's not a zombie thread if it's your own thread Grin .

I do this too. and sympathetically select the wonkiest carrot in sainsburys because I don't want it to left over and abandoned Blush .
