to eat a pea because I feel sorry for it.

I have just eaten a cherry tomato that I didn't really want (last one, bit bruised and squishy) because I 'felt sorry for it' and thought it would be sad if it didn't get eaten like it's friends...

I often do this with peas as well.

And other small pieces of food

Confused

I try to tell myself that it's ridiculous "Jaded it's just food, it doesn't have feelings FFS"

But still I find myself adding the manky mushroom to the risotto so it doesn't feel left out.

Anyone?

Norman - I don't do goodbye, but I always say "Hello house" when we come back! And now if I don't, DH picks me up on it...

AmberLeaf · 29/02/2012 18:18

Funny Grin

Not just me then!

TrinityRhino · 29/02/2012 18:13

I went and 'checked on' my car later the same night that it got hit by my neighbour

he came and told us so we could see the damage and there was a chunk broken out of the back of the wing mirror and two little dents

I told it, it would be ok and I still loved it (infromt of him, he knows I'm mad though) and then I checked on it later to see if she was ok

her name is Mabel

NormanTheForeman · 29/02/2012 18:07

I actually say "Goodbye house" when we go away......

And put toys that aren't being taken on holiday together to stop them being lonely.

PinTHISonYerCabbageMister · 29/02/2012 18:02

I'm not even bloody Catholic, to be trailing clouds of guilt wherever I go. Hmm

PinTHISonYerCabbageMister · 29/02/2012 18:00

Cother, I have ishoos about numbers queue barging in Sudoku as well.

I have to pat the house goodbye if I'm leaving for a day or two, because it will be left by itself Blush.

CotherMuckingFunt · 29/02/2012 17:56

That is such a lovely idea Jaded Smile. I leave plastic toys near the stuffed toys that are left when the kids choose what they're taking away with them so they don't get bored or lonely

SlightlyJaded · 29/02/2012 17:52

Crunch / Frownie Yes it is especially applicable to things in a can: baked beans/spaghetti hoops etc. I completely buy into the 'they've spent so much time together in a confined space, they must be really close' theory and it is imperative that they fulfill their destiny.

Lesley I think I love your DP.

Except that I will now fret about the clothes that have been pulled out of the drawer to be packed but been rejected at the last minutes on the basis that our excess luggage is about to exceed the cost of the actual holiday

Perhaps these clothes could be hung near a window in a different room so that they get a bit of a holiday too - change of scene, different view etc?

I do all of this. To the extent that when I'm doing Suduko, I have to work my way through all the numbers in order, eg, fill in the 1s, then the 2s and so on up til the 9s. If I see a 4 that can be filled in but I'm on the 7s I have to carry on up to 9, start back on 1 and work my way up to 4 before I can fill it in. Otherwise it isn't fair on the other numbers. It's like 4 would be jumping the queue.

also, if my little finger on my right hand touches something cold I have to let my litle finger on my left hand touch it so it's fair.

And don't get me started on odd socks.... Sad

Aerobreaking · 29/02/2012 17:48

This is the first nutty as a box of frogs thread on MN that I am proud to say I do not do

I will happily leave the last pea, or the squished mushroom, and I have even been known to split up pairs of socks whilst they're drying if there is only room for one of them on the radiator Shock

You lot are mad, quite mad I tell you

frownieface · 29/02/2012 17:40

I do this Blush, I have to make sure that all the beans/spaghetti hoops are out of the tin, also if cooking rice/pasta it all has to come out of the pan or the one bit will get lonely.

PinTHISonYerCabbageMister · 29/02/2012 17:33

Yup - I can't bear the thought of that little chunk of onion feeling rejected and tearful as it's brothers go swimming in sauce. Feeling not good enough. Unwanted.

Perhaps I'm projecting. Hmm

Also apologise to doors and sofas and plants if I bump them. And have to put similar clothes with similar in the drawer so they don't feel lost and alone in the dark...

celebmum · 29/02/2012 17:28

I sooo do this! Grin

We've lived in our house for 5christmas's and every year we get a card for previous owners with not return/forwarding address. Every year I put it up with all the others do that the Christmas card can fulfil its destiny!

Averyyounggrandmaofsix · 29/02/2012 17:22

I have a rotary dryer and nothing must hang alone on one of the four sides, I thought it was just me, thank you thank you thank you x

AnEcumenicalMatter · 29/02/2012 17:17

Sorry! I was looking for AIBU but I appear to have stumbled into the mad as a bucket of frogs topic instead.

GrittersWifeAndProud · 29/02/2012 17:09

Bonkers.

notdrowningjustwaving · 29/02/2012 16:58

When I watch cookery programmes, and the cook has, eg, a chopped onion in a bowl, and fails to tip it all in the pot, I get quite annoyed. It's really not fair on the missed bits of onion, is it?

When I tidy DD's toys, I always pair the little ones with a bigger one, to ensure they are well taken care of.

My eating of stray bits of food I feel sorry for is the reason I can't lose my big gut..... Sad

TrinityRhino · 29/02/2012 16:52

do you post twice too so your first post doesn't get lonely anna? Grin

annalovesmrbates · 29/02/2012 16:50

Yes! Me too! I've never admitted it before. At least I'm not alone.

annalovesmrbates · 29/02/2012 16:50

Yes! Me too! I've never admitted it before. At least I'm not alone.

flagnogbagnog · 29/02/2012 16:48

Yes I do this too! Never admitted it before but must scrape all baked beans out of the tin so that they fulfil their purpose in life. Ive tried to ignore the odd one or two when ive been in a rush but it's no good, I'll go back and save them.

TrinityRhino · 29/02/2012 16:41

'not have one by itself next to the trousers' Grin lol

Greeata · 29/02/2012 16:37

I eat the last of anything because I'm a greedy cow and not because I feel sorry for it. But I do make sure washing has a 'friend' when I hang it on the line - i'll put all the tshirts together and not have one by its self next to the trousers. Does that count?

PomBearAtTheGatesOfDoom · 29/02/2012 16:33

When DD went on a residential trip with the school last month, Sydney Tuna was deemed Too Precious to go too, and I had to go up and read the school text messages to him the instant they arrived, so that he would know she was alright. Daddy could wait until he got home to read them, but Sydney needed to now immediately. Did this faithfully, every single one Blush
I also worry about "splitting up families" when I eat things like beans, or those teeny millions sweeties Blush

NormanTheForeman · 29/02/2012 16:32

When I gave a teddy bear to a friend of mine, I snipped some holes in the wrapping paper "so it could breathe"........
