i am vaguely intrigued by these as identified in teh times
"Discarded notes are rubbish to most people, but not for worldwide subscribers to Found, which reprints them. The magazine?s publisher, Davy Rothbart, gets bundles sent to his office in Michigan. Laura Kwerel, a radio producer in Washington, was ?overwhelmed? after reading one issue. ?I realise now,? she says, ?that there is more humanity in a discarded grocery list than in a thousand-page novel.? Some people need to get out more. "

Found this today in tesco's basket:

Black tie
Sausages
Cola
Bicarb

Mop head

Black tie????? Very odd assortment imo.

And "Salty=good" - ????

Pruni · 05/04/2006 22:02

Jura that would be hilarious if it weren't so unutterably sad!
It was "Look like Curly Watts" that got me...

We went to a Volvo dealership a couple of years ago to look at second hand ones (had just had 2nd baby & it seemed so right at the time...) anyway, when we turned over the stock price list the salesman had given us we saw his list of "things to do 2004", including (from memory);

Go to theatre
take family abroad on holiday
learn another language
build retaining wall next to shed
group sex
go out to restaurants more
find better job

Grin Wish I'd kept the whole thing now...!

Dawn060861 · 05/03/2006 18:57

When we had our car ( a second hand one) we were checking the boot and there was a little cubby for keeping a first aid kit in and I found a bunch of notes from a woman to a man whom she was clearly having an affair with, he was the guy who sold us the car!!! thay made very interesting reading, she was threatening to tell his wife about the affair if he did not keep his promise of going away with her and he had better hurry up as she was running out of patience! ( bunny boiler), she threatened to meet his wife and show her the photographs of him taken in the bedroom!!!! Grin
There were 5 letters and she told him she could not live without him and he was full of empty promises and she did not want to sit by the phone night after night for just a few moments on the phone or an hour in bed!!!! I can't believe this guy keptthem in the car!!! Iburned them in the end.Smile

xDawn

Lots of bread products there to try in the new toaster I reckon

SoupDragon · 05/03/2006 15:19

A Waitrose list - picked up off the floor after I "dropped my car key" next to it.

Page from a small spiral bound notepad with a cute little toaster saying "hello!" printed on thebottom and the slogan "crispy and well toasted bread Mini toaster!"

crumpets
hot x buns
mousakka
breadsticks
water bottles
pizza + doughballs
coke (presume cola rather than cocaine, this was Waitrose afterall)
orange juice
Sugar)

SoupDragon · 03/03/2006 19:57

I'm waiting for a MNer to confess it was them that left the list. I mean who else would abandon a list in a pile of fluffy cats??

Come on! Who were you?!

SoupDragon · 03/03/2006 19:56

Big Ikea fan are you, Bear?

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 03/03/2006 19:16

and the vital piece is generally missing and you have to call customer services and ask them to send it, for which they charge you and then send the worng piece three times in a row, before a fortnight later finally sending the right bit, by which time you have broken a toe pushing past the half assembled effing piece of effing junk furniture in the dark

like the Murphys, I'm not bitter

AggiePanther · 03/03/2006 18:59

Dinner from ikea is great but it comes flatpacked and you have to assemble it yourself.

harpsichordcarrier · 03/03/2006 18:13

yes dill of course

BettySpaghetti · 03/03/2006 17:59
