do you ever find left over notes in shopping torlleys or elsewhere? i

i am vaguely intrigued by these as identified in teh times
"Discarded notes are rubbish to most people, but not for worldwide subscribers to Found, which reprints them. The magazine?s publisher, Davy Rothbart, gets bundles sent to his office in Michigan. Laura Kwerel, a radio producer in Washington, was ?overwhelmed? after reading one issue. ?I realise now,? she says, ?that there is more humanity in a discarded grocery list than in a thousand-page novel.? Some people need to get out more. "

i might start writing the most rediculously silly lists and leave them in trolleys for other's to find, might give them a giggle

TwoIfBySea · 03/02/2006 23:52

Okay this thread is a bit long for me to catch up on so forgive if I repeat anyone but I don't collect them, I leave them.

And since this thread started I have began to write very interesting lists. Well if it is going to entertain someone.

Get your minds out the gutters, not that interesting. Well...

jco · 03/02/2006 23:38

oh my god!! thats terrible

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 03/02/2006 23:37

In our local paper tonight there was a woman who bought a DVD of My Little Pony from Woolies (all sealed and kosher and all) and left her kids watching it only to pop in ten minutes later and see it was my little porny!!! The manufacturers apologised profusely, but WTF. Is it me?

jco · 03/02/2006 23:35

i once got a second hand video player that still had a porn video in!!!!

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 03/02/2006 23:29

I'm back. Like the tactical bump at 6.48 Foxy. Sorry about what I dared to suggest about the cartoon of you.

Anyroad up, I've thought long and hard about Horny's (for 30 seconds at least) and reckon we're onto an Enigma variant, a Da Capo code if you will. Work with me on this, it's complex:
25+6 =31, right?
-20 = 11
-20= -9
x 3 = -18
x 4 (for) = -72
x 4 = -288.
Take the SCHWARTZ from the green Satin list (I'm coming onto that) which as any fule kno auf deutsch "black" bedeutet and you get to -288 Black the middle 8 is really "&" which looks like an 8
2&8 is a "state" in cockerney rhyming doobrey
Where's the black state? Bleedin obvious when you look at it in the cold light of a bottle and a half of New Zealand's finest and an evening of Channel 4 comedy. ANyway, someone get onto special branch, I'm orf up the wooden hill etc

I got 3 (yes three, read em and weep) lists today and they were all shite - bread, butter, milk of human kindness pap. I might stop now. Night.

AggiePanther · 03/02/2006 23:17

bettythebuilder · 03/02/2006 21:54

I went shopping a couple of days ago, and half way round the supermarket lost my list. What was the first thing I did when I got home? Came on this thread to make sure that no-one had picked it up and posted all my foody foibles for all to see.

alexsmum · 03/02/2006 20:17

this thread is fab! love the ky on the list-so important they couldn't forget to buy it!

LIZS · 03/02/2006 20:14

Think I get to waitrose before the list brigade -never seen one there

popsycalindisguise · 03/02/2006 20:11

I lefy one in a troley today....

Lonelymum · 03/02/2006 20:06

How can you not find discarded lists? The one I found today was only one of three or four I could see lying on trolleys. perhaps I live in a particularly forgetful area?

quickbrownfox · 03/02/2006 19:12

and after a prolific start me nither
waitrose particularly bad
bet there are richer pickigns at xmas

madmarchhare · 03/02/2006 19:08

Am increasingly as still not found one.

quickbrownfox · 03/02/2006 19:06

this is reocurring though horny - the " wuick meal for 5" or convenient meal

whoa re these weirdies?

hornbag · 03/02/2006 19:05

HOORAY! After what seems like weeks of furtive lurking in supermarket trolley parks I found a list today in Waitrose. It was my third visit there in 2 days so about bloody time.

Written mainly in pencil with some black biro on a very crumpled and dirty piece of paper from one of those spiral-bound at the top journo notebooks.

In the top right it says 25+6

Cheese & bisc -20 wine
Beans & carrots-20 Sprouts
celery x 3
Eclairs?
Bacon
Tea
Supper for 4
Water
Leeks (last item is crossed out so I'm guessing a bit here)

Bit of an odd selection, obviously into their numbers but is that 20 sprouts or beans and carrots for 20? What does supper for 4 consist of? What the hell can you do with 3 bundles of celery? Lastly, but most importantly in my eyes, why query the eclairs? Surely they are a necessity

quickbrownfox · 03/02/2006 18:55

green satin dental floss?
weird wheres bear?

Lonelymum · 03/02/2006 18:51

Thanks. Right, I haven't read the thread so I am not sure what I do. Just copy it out? Handwriting isn't very good. OK, what do you make of this?

ENCONA (?)
Water
Thia (sic) sweet chilli sauce
Black pepper coarse ground SCHWARTZ
Soups
Gravy
Dental floss Green Satin one (?)
Jalapinos/Sour cream

That is it in its entirety.

quickbrownfox · 03/02/2006 18:48

.

TambaTheTemptress · 02/02/2006 15:52

I have sent dh to the supermarket carrying a list with instructions to leave it in the basket....

Mercy · 02/02/2006 15:50

I thought I was about to meet a mumsnetter in M&S yesterday. I realised I had lost my list and was having a quick look for it when I spotted a woman bending over and picking up a piece of paper off the floor. I was convinced she was going to start grinning madly and slip it in her pocket - but no she smiled sweetly at me and said 'I saw you drop your list - here you are!'

Sadly, I did not find a list myself.

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 02/02/2006 15:35

I TOOK A LIVE ONE!!! FROM SOMEONE"S TORLLEY, THAT WAS STILL IN USE!!!

AND WAS SEEN AND ACCOSTED BY ITS OWNER!!!!!

just kidding - I've been tempted, but I'm not stupid.

I did home in on a lone torlley in the middle of the car park which may have looked odd, because it had what looked like a huge list clipped to it. But it turned out to be pretty ropey - all that danger for so little reward.

An A4 sheet (back of a letter with the owner's name on it - thank goodness I don't know her) torn in two and folded in half again. Three different lists on three of the quarters:

med
globe? - struck through
pringles
rolls/'butter'
'lettuce', toms (colour?), cre, aly... - this is a new language
creme fraiche? for pasta? - very indecisive
Quiche? for Carol £3-4 for Carol - Carol likes quiche, at that price I should coco
me-ham or " or both - eh? But at least the ham is there, no sign of how nice tho

then there's a sub list in the bottom corner which is scribbled out:

pasta
tuna
from frais
ketchup
woman see - means nothing to me
mayo

tin peas
shreddies
C beef
Multi surface cleaner
E. Jams
'Butter'
rolls for Wed

  • Toms Lettuce/leaves etc - we've all been there, just get stuff Creme fraiche/from fraise - it rears it's creamy head, again Sausages - Love it, all esoteric, then processed pork product

Black felt tip
fuse wire
paracetamol

this last list worries me slightly, what's going down here?

Anyway not going back to the store until tomorrow, fingers crossed for better pickings
