i am vaguely intrigued by these as identified in teh times
"Discarded notes are rubbish to most people, but not for worldwide subscribers to Found, which reprints them. The magazine?s publisher, Davy Rothbart, gets bundles sent to his office in Michigan. Laura Kwerel, a radio producer in Washington, was ?overwhelmed? after reading one issue. ?I realise now,? she says, ?that there is more humanity in a discarded grocery list than in a thousand-page novel.? Some people need to get out more. "

I'm sure bear ridiculed me earlier on when I claimed there were never any lists at Waitrose.

flashingnose · 04/02/2006 18:26

I'm so sad - get all excited and expectant when I see Bear's name against this thread.

BearintheBigBlueHouse · 04/02/2006 18:15

well as Johnny Depp's company has bought the rights, I'd assumed he'd be doing it himself, but I'm easy - I'm just happy to be involved

Likewise, here - none in Waitrose - they must be onto this and don't want the copyright problems there might be when the film is made (Sandra Bullock's playing Cod)

I've spent all day ressearching the "black state" epiphany I arrived at last night - turns out it's a photovoltaic coverings thing with particular reference to bistable electro-optic displays and could have some military application, so I have informed Mi6 who may have to close down the site for a day or two, so if you go over to UK Parents during the downtime, do remember to come back

Mercy · 04/02/2006 17:37

Lonelymum, why didn't you pick up all the lists, that's very remiss of you!

btw, Encona is a company which sells African/Caribbean food (mostly)but is mainly well known for its spicy sauces

left mine on trolley in Podium car park underneath Waitrose in Bath this morning. Anyone found it yet?

(I think the lovely people at Waitrose remove the lists before they put the trolleys out for the next customers - looked everywhere for one - nothing doing)

Whizzz · 04/02/2006 16:43

You can just imagine a shopping list fracas as 2 MNetters wrestle over a scrumpled scrap of paper in Tesco !

hornbag · 04/02/2006 16:41

whizzz -half the fun is trying to get your hands on the list without looking mad!

Before my success this week I had a near miss when I found one by the plastic bags at the end of the checkout in Waitrose. It was a huge A4 sized one! I picked it up and was wondering how to get it in my bag or pocket discreetly when the checkout woman said "ooh give me that rubbish and I'll put it in the bin". I nearly (but thankfully stopped myself in time) screamed "No, I saw it first"

Found one ! Waiting for DH in town & saw a note on the floor. Had to manoeuvre it with my foot to read (wasn't going to be seen scrabbling about on the floor!). It said

ssd · 04/02/2006 15:29

this thread's scary.

Milge · 04/02/2006 15:06

I had a result in Waitrose this morning - a list! here goes:
Grean beans x 2
Cabbage
Sweetcorn
Eggs
Salad
Custard
port tenderloin(350g)
chestnut mush(rooms, i presume0
red onion
lt crem fraech
parslea
orange
leek
carrot
orange juice
cariander fresh
beef
brown bread
ham ( nothing about whether it should be nice or not, disappointingly)
potatoe
salmon
fruit
beans
champoo
black bag
Pity about some spelling, but you can tell it was a Waitrose shopping list
