Great big effing boil on my neck! Help!

I've NEVER had a boil, ever, and now, 4 days after I go from long hair to a short bob, I've got something that looks like another nipple. It HURTS! I've put metanium on it and it's coming up to a point but there's no head on it. I don't feel too well either but that might be unrelated.

What should I do?! Help!

WMMC...that's the foulest of foul...and thats after stiff competition on this thread Grin

whomovedmychocolate · 22/08/2011 20:08

I had one of my arse once. It popped when I sat down. Was excruciating - not least because it looked like I'd shat myself because there was a large dark stain on my white linen trousers where the goo had all come out Blush

NeatFreak · 22/08/2011 20:07

Sadly there will be no photos of my giant behind.

dh just applied magnesium sulphate and has gone out for a drink to wipe the memory.

I'm hoping it'll be magically gone by the morning!

whomovedmychocolate · 22/08/2011 19:49

Aitch - I know a lot about them because frankly I seem to be unable to be bitten or even get a splinter without developing a full on sepsis within 24 hours. I now have a preorder with the GP for hard core antiobiotics so I can start treatment at the first signs of a lump. Hmm It's a genetic thing, some people are predisposed to have strong reactions to any infection. And I have a blinking great hole in my ticker so I'm not allowed to let them run wild anymore just in case I get endocarditis.

HouseOfBamboo · 22/08/2011 19:01

Oh wow, bottom boils

Holly slightly disappointed thrilled for you that Cyst is sodding off out of our lives.

Portofino · 22/08/2011 18:58

This could run and run Grin

MigratingCoconuts · 22/08/2011 18:26

BagofHolly · 22/08/2011 18:24

Ive been reading this with a range of feelings- shock at how big it was, amazement at how well you are coping with it then relief that I've never had a boil before.

karma has now literally bit me on the bum as I now have a large (but not on the scale of yours) boil on my buttock. dh has named it Frankie (Boyle) and he is making my life a misery- sitting down is almost impossible. I'm having an early night with a pot of magnesium sulphate tonight...wish me luck.

massive respect to you, I feel like a total wuss already and it is a mere pimple compared to yours

Moanna · 22/08/2011 16:33

Oh. It looks tonnes better!

Sad
b1uebells · 22/08/2011 15:36

How did it go at the doctors OP??

MigratingCoconuts · 22/08/2011 10:58

phew! I'm glad you said that first saffron!

I too was wondering if it was mean to not want it to heal just yet contemplate missing it when its gone...

saffronwblue · 22/08/2011 10:48

Have been completely in thrall to following this thread with horror and amusement and have not been game to look at all the photos. Holly, you are a trooper!
Does anyone else think there might be a bit of sense of community grief disappointment when the boil and its spawn are finally out of Holly's neck?

ThatVikRinA22 · 22/08/2011 10:45

are we getting the update in glorious technicolour then holly ?

Leo35 · 22/08/2011 10:42

Does this thread count as a Guilty Pleasure? My DH and I have been in tucks at your descriptions.

Have checked in yet again. Holly your humour in the face of adversity is impressive. Guess you missed some of the 'do' owing to ahem..tummy troubles...

Hope tranqs working and neck on the mend. It must be getting you down a bit as it seems to to have been around for ages.

AitchTwoOh · 22/08/2011 10:02

good news re hoss tranqs. i have to tell you that when i see your photos my hands actually start to float towards the computer screen, fingers automatically bracing for a squeeze. trufact.

BagofHolly · 22/08/2011 09:54

Morning all! Me and Cyst are back at the docs for another clean-up. The HCA just popped her head round the door, saw me and waved excitedly. This is the girl who took the photo last week. She is clearly One Of Us.

Am drifting gently into the loving arms of a fistful of horse tranquillisers. No point in taking any chances with this fella.

WMMC, urge to eat boil-cheese? That's a new level of gross! Bleugh!

OP posts:
MigratingCoconuts · 22/08/2011 09:15

I knew there was a reason I hated cheese!!!!

musttidyupmusttidyup · 22/08/2011 09:04

AitchTwoOh · 22/08/2011 08:56

Portofino · 22/08/2011 08:54

I was actually dreaming about the boil yesterday! Blush

AitchTwoOh · 22/08/2011 08:53

i am curious to know how sore it is... it looks like it would be miserably painful but you seem so chipper. are you still on the opiates?

MigratingCoconuts · 22/08/2011 08:16

So sorry for you missing lots of the day but....thanks for the invaluable research into drugs/alcohol abuse!!!

its looking lots better but my two kids were still very impressed with the puss lump/susan thing

whomovedmychocolate · 22/08/2011 08:10

Yes that's what is commonly known as 'zit cheese'. Try to resist the urge to eat it. Bet it smells really bad.

giraffesCantChaChaCha · 21/08/2011 23:44

Brilliant thread!
