Great big effing boil on my neck! Help!

I've NEVER had a boil, ever, and now, 4 days after I go from long hair to a short bob, I've got something that looks like another nipple. It HURTS! I've put metanium on it and it's coming up to a point but there's no head on it. I don't feel too well either but that might be unrelated.

What should I do?! Help!

Update Tuesday 0930 GMT

It oozed yellow stuff in the night, and the black centre has utterly disappeared. Has it been eaten?!

It's as hot as ever, and hurts! Going to get it dressed properly this afternoon. My mum says it looks like a dowager's hump.

The glands under my jaw are up and I'm sneezy. It's bubonic isn't it? Back in medieval/Lord of the Rings times, I'd be dead by now. Thrown into a pit and covered in lime.

Does this remind anybody else of the movie "How to Get Ahead in Advertising" with Richard E Grant and the giant boil????

"Update as of 1930 GMT.

Red area is size of a Denby sideplate."

classic!!!!

i hope you are not feeling too bad OP, but this thread has made me laugh so much.

esp wmmc advising not driving yourself to hospital if you've lost consciousness or can't open your eyes lol Wink

MaxSchreck · 15/08/2011 21:34

Am so glad you're not dead, OP.

I think you may as well open the champagne and welcome your newborn into the family.
Try to think of it as your slightly odd son that lives in the attic.

Moanna · 15/08/2011 21:07

I think you should do a close up

whomovedmychocolate · 15/08/2011 19:27

Nice haircut btw. Wink A cyclops should always go for the shorter styles. Grin

GlaikitFizzog · 15/08/2011 18:32
Wink

Hope it's better soon!

chimchar · 15/08/2011 17:46

Fuck me! That's a hell of a spot there. Is it sore yet? Do you want me to come round and suck out the venom stick pins in it? Grin

BagofHolly · 15/08/2011 17:31

GlaikitFizzog, you're a genius.

Whomovedmychoc, a name would indeed be good. I think it's male, stubborn and aggressive yet strangely fascinating. Mike Tyson? Wayne Rooney?

Grin funniest thread ever. Op, you are hilarious! And very brave Smile. Do keep an eye in it. I hope you get back to normal soon.

BagofHolly · 15/08/2011 16:46

DH, not "HR". No need to tell them yet!

BagofHolly · 15/08/2011 16:45

Viva, that's the happiest news I've had all day!

I started to carefully draw around the pink area with a pink pen (so it wouldn't show up much but I'd know where to look) and I couldn't reach, so asked DH to have a go. The pen ran out and HR muttered something about getting another one, and carried on. Now he's finished I've realised he's used black marker pen. CD marker pen. I may as well have got a tattoo. At least I could have decorated it a bit and made a feature. Now it just looks like I'm an animal carcas, ready for jointing. Will upload photo in a min.

Incidentally it did occur to me that it might be an ingrowing hair or a hair which has wedged in your head during the haircut - in which case it may keep refilling until it's removed.

I suggest giving your extra head a name perhaps Susan Grin

whomovedmychocolate · 15/08/2011 16:31

Well that's good but you need to monitor for at least 72 hours and keep check on your temperature and if it seems to be getting worse go back. GPs are not great at soft tissue infections because they see them mostly in old dears whose circulation is so shit anyway they just shell out pills without really investigating. Ideally you draw a circle round it (yes I know it'll look weird, but you have a whole extra head how bad can it be?) so you can monitor if it IS indeed getting bigger.

May I suggest you measure edge to edge with a meter rule tape measure and then do it again after 24 hours. If you start to vomit, lose consciousness, get a severe headache, fever, or your eyes won't open, you go directly to A&E and DO NOT DRIVE YOURSELF THERE

Nag over, hope you feel better soon. :)

OhYouBadBadKitten · 15/08/2011 16:01

wow, well thank goodness for antibiotic eh. If you start to not feel well again, or get worried at all this evening/tonight then please see another person.

evenlessnarkypuffin · 15/08/2011 15:27

I'm glad you're not dying. On the plus side the picture of the boil has put DH off from peeking over my shoulder when I'm ignoring him MNing Grin

VivaLeBeaver · 15/08/2011 15:20

You can drink wine on flucox.

chimchar · 15/08/2011 14:43

FourThousandHoles · 15/08/2011 14:38
