Great big effing boil on my neck! Help!

I've NEVER had a boil, ever, and now, 4 days after I go from long hair to a short bob, I've got something that looks like another nipple. It HURTS! I've put metanium on it and it's coming up to a point but there's no head on it. I don't feel too well either but that might be unrelated.

What should I do?! Help!

It obviously has plans for world domination.

You sounds as though you have chosen the perfect outfit Grin.

Good luck.

BagofHolly · 17/08/2011 01:00

If it's not improved by the time I do the night feed, I'll film it winking. It's bloody extraordinary.

Update 0035 GMT

After a rubbish dinner which tasted of aluminium, I was watching the telly and was aware of a strange tightening in my hump. I thought it might be the ABs doing stuff/sauron waking up and decided to leave it to get on with it. After that programme about hoarders, I had a look and it's now as big as a boiled egg (hen) sliced in half. Mindful of avoiding a gaping hole, I didn't touch it but I did pull my shoulders back and put my head down a couple of times.
Then things got very weird. It went DARK red, like an angry octopus! There was a bit of relief as a teeny bit of wee leaked out. The black bit has a yellow surround and (this is where I freaked out) as I moved my head, the yellow bit covered the black necrotising flesh bit!

The cocky bastard winked at me! Angry

It still hasn't blown - it's had plenty of opportunity but it's biding its time. I've put some more magnesium sulphate on it and as I didn't have any big plasters, I've covered it with a clean muslin. It's tied on, Mumford and Sons style. My temp is back up so that's all I'm wearing - a nude, folky leper.

Hope it goes without ruining my pillowslips!

So, do we know yet what the black hole bit in the centre is?? I actually fell asleep last night pondering that one..

GlaikitFizzog · 16/08/2011 22:33

WMMC your profiles private. I wanna see the arm mouse

whomovedmychocolate · 16/08/2011 22:29

Hey OP, if you check out my photos you can see my arm mouse that came up in reaction to a tiny splinter in my finger (I get good infections you see). Now that was full of pus and gore and nothing ever came of it, it all vanished over the course of five days.

uggmum · 16/08/2011 22:12

I love boil threads. I currently have an infected belly button (had a key hole op and the wound has become infected). I have been enjoying pulling out all the infected pus for the past few days. Have abs now and it's getting better.

I had an enormous scab and I photographed it and emailed it to my dh as he is away and I didn't want him to miss it.

On a more serious note, if it doesn't improve in a few days I would really go to a&e for a second opinion. I became really ill 18 months ago and ended up in hospital with septaecemia, was mis-diagnosed by my gp 6 times. Spent 3 weeks in hospital in isolation. It's no fun believe me.

Boil in the bag karma?

hermioneweasley · 16/08/2011 22:08

Wow, did anyone also watch the 'gigantic blackhead' link on YouTube? I have never seen anything like it.

Bagofholly - hope you are feeling better. You deserve good boil karma for keeping everyone informed and keeping your sense of humour

piprabbit · 16/08/2011 22:03

Not my invention - it's DiscWorld thing, sorry.

The verucca gnome wears a stained black suit with bowler or derby hat pressed firmly down forcing long pointed ears out sideways like a small malignent wingnut. He carries a sack and dispenses foot warts to the unwary.

whomovedmychocolate · 16/08/2011 21:56

Verruca gnome Confused Grin

piprabbit · 16/08/2011 21:54

OMG - that's even more disgusting than the verucca gnome.

whomovedmychocolate · 16/08/2011 21:52

No really all the yellow stuff, the pixies take it away in a little cart and load it into the faces of teenagers over night. So when you get better and you go out and see a spotty oik at the checkout, remember, you are contributing towards saving the planet: reuse and recycle. Grin

whomovedmychocolate · 16/08/2011 21:51

Apparently it's Sauron.

whomovedmychocolate · 16/08/2011 21:49

Where does it go? Where do you think it goes? The body is brilliant at getting rid of stuff it doesn't need. Actually when it dries out there is not a lot left. The bacteria dies and drops off. (So all over your house is the answer really isn't it? Hmm) And the crusty top will clearly drop off and your new skin will grow there (hopefully) and the dead white cells will come out in your poo.

GlaikitFizzog that's it - she's got SYRON on her neck Grin

BagofHolly · 16/08/2011 21:46

wmmc, where will the badness go if it doesn't leak/burst? The black bit in the middle is back and getting bigger, surrounded by a yellow ring. Bleugh.

OP posts:
GlaikitFizzog · 16/08/2011 21:45

PMSL! Whats the one eyed thing from Lord of the rings called? Syron or something. Thats whats emerging from your neck!

Sidge · 16/08/2011 21:45

wmmc we cover cavities like that - they tend to drip otherwise Grin

BagofHolly it's hard to tell from the picture but it looks like you have a small cavity, surrounded by lots of erythema and cellulitis. Certain dressings could help to keep the cavity fairly moist and clean whilst it heals, as if it dries out too much you could be left with a dry scabby deep dimple that hasn't healed well. Sort of like a dessicated volcano...

whomovedmychocolate · 16/08/2011 21:42

See this is what your pic 6 will be if you put a plaster on Grin

whomovedmychocolate · 16/08/2011 21:41

Don't dress it - you need to keep an eye on it, it needs access to the air (FGS let your head creature breathe Wink ). Plaster not good idea. Rip the plaster off when it's adhered to the nose centre of your head creature and you will have a big hole. Which might sound good but you'll probably create an extra three heads.

piprabbit · 16/08/2011 21:38

This looks a little like a boil in reverse Biscuit, should be red on the outside and yellow in the middle though.

BagofHolly · 16/08/2011 21:37

Kittens with boils? That's just too sad!

OP posts:
BagofHolly · 16/08/2011 21:36

The HCA said that there wasn't really anything to dress. I'd planned to slap more magnesium paste on tonight, under a plaster. Should I leave it? I'd left it to air dry cos that's what they said to do with my cs stitches.

OP posts:
ObviouslyOblivious · 16/08/2011 21:35

How many heads did the kittens have? Did they get squeezed a lot?

faverolles · 16/08/2011 21:34

This is like the kittens thread, but with boils :o

Hope you're feeling better soon :)
