Great big effing boil on my neck! Help!

I've NEVER had a boil, ever, and now, 4 days after I go from long hair to a short bob, I've got something that looks like another nipple. It HURTS! I've put metanium on it and it's coming up to a point but there's no head on it. I don't feel too well either but that might be unrelated.

What should I do?! Help!

I'm supposed to go to the hairdresser today. Think I'll cancel.

AitchTwoOh · 18/08/2011 09:36

you poor thing, Holly... that is truly disgusting. please do go to the hospital today, i don't think your doctor has served you well here.

my guess is this was probably caused by hairdersser. Its important that they sterilise combs and brushes which they often don't. some round brushes have quite sharp bristles and can graze the skin without you noticing.

A good hairdresser should always wash their hands before they touch your hair as well.

JodieHarsh · 18/08/2011 09:24

Oh gosh, I hope the bacteria hasn't strolled elsewhere Sad

Nuff respeck Holly - magnificent combination of effortless prose and total fecking mingery.

Good luck. I actually told DH about all this as he came off the night shift this morning Confused

whomovedmychocolate · 18/08/2011 09:17

Hmm, if you have a spreading staph infection you need to be in isolation in hospital as your children are at risk or catching it. Let's hope it's not antibiotic resistant eh! Shock

You would have been far better getting it dealt with two days ago. But such is life. Please don't be surprised if the hospital get involved today. You can't go on like this. :(

jimblejambles · 18/08/2011 09:07

Omg I have just found this thread. Total respect OP. It looks very painful though. Hope you are feeling ok this morning

maxybrown · 18/08/2011 09:06

heck, I wonder if he'll be gone by Christmas? Shock Grin good luck today

BagofHolly · 18/08/2011 09:04

Morning! Cyst has been rather busy overnight and has regained some of his previous form, and filled up. He's not as big as he was but he's still in the category of "absolutely gopping".

So I'm off to the docs (again) to see the HCA (again) to dress him up all nice. My minging muslins are in a bucket in the bathroom and I may burn them. I don't think they need to go back into circulation!

More worryingly I have a fairly innocent looking patch on my chin which is weeping. It was never a spot, there was no break in the skin. It's under a thick layer of fucidin but I'm going to get that looked at too, and might treat myself to some surgical gloves. See you later,

Holly, Cyst, Kath et al.

5gomad - scroll down a bit from where you're looking. A few people have done something with the link so that it works. I am also on an iPhone and had the same problem. I've now seen it and it's appearing in front of me every time I close my eyes.

Hope you're ok this morning, Holly.

hopskipandjump · 18/08/2011 08:39

Much as I am finding all this really exciting PLEASE go and see a doctor. This is really infected and if the infection gets into your blood stream could lead to septacemia which is VERY VERY serious. This really is important - please go!

AncientsOfMuMu · 18/08/2011 08:36

In honour of Cyst Fab, I think we should have a new one of these Biscuit with red on the outside and yellow in the middle.

MagicFingerGoesPop · 18/08/2011 08:34

This thread is hilarious. Those pics are..well! OP hope you are feeling better this morning.

MigratingCoconuts · 18/08/2011 08:30

well, quick biology lesson for my 4 and 6 year old is over!

my 6 year old wants to know why you are not in hospital.....

5GoMadOnAZ650 · 18/08/2011 08:27

Gah! I can't see the photos from my iPhone as the links won't work.

SirSugar · 18/08/2011 08:27

Euphemia, my mum went to see that at the cinema when it was released and at the moment the alien burst forth everyone gasped out loud.

This is why we need moving pictures IMO

MigratingCoconuts · 18/08/2011 08:25

ok, just opened that in front of the young DCs!

'what is that mummy?' came the plaintif cry!

(now they just want to look at it again and again)

glad you are feeling better. We were beginning to get a bit concerned there last night!

EuphemiaMcGonagall · 18/08/2011 08:23

I reckon this guy is inside.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/08/2011 08:11

I fear that she may be stuck to the pillow and unable to leave her bed!

Purpleprickles · 18/08/2011 08:10

Ewwwww I love a good spot too but that has made me feel very nauseous. Not sure I'll be able to eat today Grin

What are the developments this morning Holly?

SirSugar · 18/08/2011 08:07

Have been lurking on thread just to make sure you're alright; its so fascinating terrible.

any chance of moving pictures?

whomovedmychocolate · 18/08/2011 08:02

Umm err good that it's oozing but that ooze is full of staph bacterium which will make you and everyone round you sick if they get into the body. Not only wash your hands well but don't let anyone touch your icky muslins. Put them straight in the wash - a hot wash. And be really careful with your hairbrushes etc, if the goo gets on there and you have a tiny spot on your head you'll get another one (and while I fear you are enjoying the infamy Wink you will get a bad reputation from the GP if you keep growing new heads) Grin

JetLi · 18/08/2011 07:55

Sweet baby Jesus & the orphans, has anyone got any brain-bleach? Holly - hope it feels better this morning

OhYouBadBadKitten · 18/08/2011 07:53

I'd agree that proper dressings are needed now. You could phone up your gp surgery and ask for a nurse appt.

Catsmamma · 18/08/2011 07:46

oh delighted for you and the whole family on the new arrival!

;)

i'd so give that the hot spoon now, just to really work everything out.
