Had to check in on my way to bed (hangover, early night needed). So glad the vet was not too worried. Does he think it was just a reaction to the injections then?

Have to confess, I have never had any of my cats injected Blush.

Hope she is brighter tomorrow.

Pinot · 18/06/2011 21:20

Ooh my poor girl! She has been asleep for a while again now but after I updated last I hand fed her some crunchie biscuits and gave her a bottle of milk (still a bit of formula left from weaning last week).

Bless her! The vets are open again tomorrow so I'll take her back if she's not brighter, though she won't want her temp taken again

Thanks all for the hand-holding. Just like the good old (scary) early days!

Cant believe ive not read this before! I've just spent the best part of the last 3 hours reading this while DH snoozed rested his eyes on the sofa. Pinot you are an absolute delight. Such enthusiasm and love for those little kittens, and such support and advice from Summerrain and Valhalla just awesome. And all the other MNers too :)
So cool it's become a classic thread too.
It makes me all weepy for the day we found our cat - Chairman Mao - he'd been abandoned and was living in a bin. Within 24 hours he'd cost us £500 in tests, vaccinations and teeth removal for severe gingivitis because he was so malnourished, and we still didn't know if he'd survive or would gave to be put down with cat leukaemia.
9 years on the toothless, feckless fecker is most put out as he can't lie on my stomach anymore because the baby in my bump keeps booting him off it!

A paw print picture of course! Grin

Poor Meow Sad.

She will be too poorly to make Daddy's day things for MrPinot Sad.

Pinot · 18/06/2011 18:31

Back and she's OK. Hot and tired but the vet didn't give her any treatment for it as he said it's better for her body to do it's "thing".

5inthebed · 18/06/2011 18:16

Poor Meow, hope she is ok.

Pinot · 18/06/2011 16:25

She's asleep again. She's barely been awake today. She won't eat, won't drink and she's got really hot pawpads and ears. She looks dopey too - she's normally like a Bond villain thinking of her next evil plan - today, she's a shadow. I've googled and now scared myself silly, so I'm going to pace until either DH gets home so I can take it out on him or until the vets can see her.

Oh no - hope meow is OK and it is just a reaction to the jab. Sad

She has a temperature. Off to the vets at 5.15pm :(

Oh my poor Meow :( She's really not herself today. Off her food, lethargic, clingy. Gingerific is fine...going to spend the day fussing over her.

Just bread your trip to the vet. My dad always said that the lovely old Tom we grew up with sounded like someone was killing a baby when we took him to the vet. Dad fully expected to be pulled over.... Grin

Yours are goooooood. A friend used to tuck his cat inside his jacket and take it on his motorbike; it (seemed to) love it. If they were in the car, the cat would either lie along the dashboard, or just curl up in his lap. He maintained that the cat enjoyed travelling and behaved so well, because it had been being taken along since it was such a tiny kitten.

I used to really want to be able to have a cat that did the same. Not so sure it's a good idea nowadays.Hmm

Jux · 17/06/2011 19:29

Oh they're still so gorgeous. I want them, dd wants them and secretly dh wants them, even though we've got 3 already (and are about to get a bearded dragon, gulp

You were right. I must have looked at exactly the moment you were changing Your name - none of your names on the thread were underlined. What're the chances of that?

SummerRain · 17/06/2011 16:55

Pinot.... I'd definitely have guessed much older than 9 weeks based on those pics! They look fabulous though, not fat... just grown up Grin

Exit... the not knowing is worse than finding them dead. If I'd found him on the road at least I could grieve but I'm swinging between thinking he'll turn up at any moment and being convinced he's dead somewhere all alone Sad I'm panicking about my other three in case there is something out there attacking/poisoning them and they're at risk too.

ExitPursuedByAKitten · 17/06/2011 16:42

SummerRain Sad I lost two toms on separate occasions (think I have moaned about it much earlier up the thread) and it is horrible not knowing.

Have you seen the GoCat ad with all the ginger kitties? Reminds me of one of my lost toms, and also what fun you must be having with yours Pinot.

Pinot · 17/06/2011 16:42

Oh Summer has he still not turned up? Shock Oh no :(

The vet took Ginger out of the carrier first and said "Are you sure they're only 9 weeks?"

Shock

I was like "Are you calling my boy fat?!" Grin

Then he got Meow who's dinky and was like "Aha!"

OP posts:
SummerRain · 17/06/2011 16:39

They're HUuuuuuuuuuuuge!!! Shock

Guess they took to the food very well then Grin

So sweet, although seeing pics of Meow is making me weepy atm as she's very like my missing boy. Have rung vets and SPCA and there's been no reports of any found cats matching his description. I think someone around must be poisoning foxes and my cats are taking the brunt of it Sad

Pinot · 17/06/2011 15:44

They were quiet the whole way, though it's only a 5 minute drive. We took Poppy (our Cavalier) for her boosters too and she yapped the whole way and sounded like a monkey Hmm

OP posts:
ExitPursuedByAKitten · 17/06/2011 15:39

Good kitties. Did they travel OK? My old puss used to wail the whole time she was in the car - so I used to sing loudly to her.

Pinot · 17/06/2011 15:07

OK the kittens have been to the vets for their 9 week check (9 wks tomorrow) and their first vaccinations. They were soooo good :) Meow weighs 1.1kg and Ginger 1.3kg the chunky monkey! The sexy vet said they are gorgeous and they didn't yelp when they were injected. Ginger was rather indignant as having his balls touched though Hmm Then they came out of the carrier for a cuddle with the receptionist. Lovely! Back in 3 weeks for the 2nd jab and their microchips.
