A level results day 2026

LOL DS did too, text me to say he just beat the sun home 🤣🌄

@Roundaboot we had something similar with DS's English. Throughout school, he'd won the prizes, marks through the roof. He did the IB where the top mark was a 7. 6 subjects, 5 were 7's even maths which had been a struggle and we'd have been happy with a 5. And then English, a 6. He wanted it remarked and checked the boundaries and hadn't just missed a 7, he'd just scraped a 6 and a remark could have as easily gone down.

These things happen and it just takes one misanswered question.

However, DS is early 30s now. It has made no difference whatsoever to him and is a distant memory.

Your boy will be fine.

I was just wondering how DC get into group chats and WhatsApp groups with their prospective flat mates and course mates. Are these something that are shared by the uni once accommodation has been confirmed?

I've actually woken up feeling a bit sad and disappointed about DS's results. I know it doesn't matter at the end of the day and the key thing is that he got his first choice but it just makes me sad as I feel the hard work he put in isn't reflected in his results. I'm also still really confused about how it all went wrong...he was getting As and Bs in all English mocks and practice essays all through years 12 and 13 and always predicted minimum a strong B. So to come out with a D especially when he thought he'd done well in the exams is a shocker.
I'm still really proud of him and his efforts, and excited that he got what he wanted but part of me is still a bit disappointed. I'll keep it to myself as I don't want him to know that but sharing on here has helped!

I hope everyone who is still waiting to hear about places gets what they need and that there's not too much stress along the way!

@NurseRunner nat sci here too! Cambridge is half an hour from us whereas the university in Scotland is more like 8 hours and she'd probably do another year just to make her student loan even bigger. She would be very happy going there as she'd already mentally accepted it. Well whatever will be will be! Good luck to your dc

Compsci. We’re out all day/night at a noisy event which means it’ll be both stressful taking a call, but a nice distraction if there’s no call and just a rejection email. Like your dd, he’s sanguine about the latter, knows it’s low chances and happy with firm. But nice to have a last roll of the dice after all that hard work and see what fate decides. Hope you and your dd have a good day whichever way it goes…

I think she’ll be fine if it’s another rejection. She’s already made quite a few connections at Durham through some group chats over the last few months - some doing the same course, some allocated the same college. Also it’s only about 30 mins drive, so easy to drop stuff off or take her food shopping occasionally! Accommodation would be cheaper at Cambridge though and less stressful as it’s guaranteed for all 3 years! Oh well, let’s see what the day brings 🤞🏻

I hope everyone who was feeling disappointed yesterday is feeling a little better after some sleep and hopefully some good options in clearing.

30 years ago I completely bombed one of my A levels without realising. I missed my offer at St Andrews and went elsewhere. I didn’t have a particularly good time at the other uni if I’m honest - but I met DH there. We have two fabulous DSs and a lovely life by the sea that I wouldn’t have if life hadn’t thrown me an unexpected curve ball with my A level results. So for anyone whose DC didn’t get what they wanted yesterday - it’s terribly simplistic of me to say this but things do work out in the end, albeit differently to what they might expect.

@BlackBean2023 and @CatkinToadflax, congratulations to your DC on the Exeter place! @BlackBean2023Remark sounds sensible, there have been cases where whole pages or sections of papers have been left unmarked or scores added up incorrectly, it could be something like this. But the important thing is she is in!

@JustHereWithMyPopcorn, so sorry to read about your DS’ day. Sounds like he is super close to meeting his Bath offer. A priority remark should come back before the deadline, fingers crossed he gets the extra mark he needs.

Suffering from this pain with my year 9. Encouraging to read about someone doing well despite the flight path. What an achievement.

Just wanted to say @Lemons1571 email the exams office at the school…. Usually something like exams@schoolname .ac uk. They will have staff in sorting remarks / papers back / admin for level 2 results next week. Someone should get back to you.

@BreezyHare so sorry you and your DD had such a tough day. Great that she found a place she likes in clearing, hope she can see all the positives of the new path soon. 💐

@Fabfabfab , sorry to learn about the Durham disappointment, but Warwick is fantastic, congratulations! Both I and DH went there and had a great time. It’s brilliant academically, socially and for employability and DS is delighted to be heading there too. Coventry is actually fine - I lived there as did many of my friends (DS chose Leamington which is a bit further but beautiful), as others have said, lots of students live in Earlsdon and Canley, which are close to campus. And Warwick accommodation services don’t discriminate between firm and insurance applications - they are equally guaranteed with preferences entered into a random draw. So he has as much chance for on campus accommodation as anyone else. Get his preferences in by the deadline and we might see you on the moving in day! 🙂

Thanks for that - here it is 2 marks off in Eng lit blocking DC's place. Here's hoping....but also trying to see advantages of insurance. Was a real suprise as everything else was A star

My DD needed BCC for her course.

She got AAA*.

I’m not sure either of us will ever stop smiling.

I would turn up at school first thing tomorrow. There's a good chance people will be in for exam remarks etc.
Also try contacting The Student Room website for advice... they have dealt with this sort of thing before and can advise.

So lovely to see all of the happy messages…but also the helpful advice for less than happy results.
DD was devastated by her results - predicted AAA, but actually got ABB (mid-Bs). She worked sooo hard, never dropped below an A in 2 years and was an academic scholar.
She missed her first choice uni and decided against her insurance, so spent hours on clearing lines. Got a place she likes, but she has cried all day, as she just can’t understand what went wrong. She’s never under-performed in an exam, so her self-esteem is in the pan.
Not the day we expected at all. 😢 So very sad for her.
