DS currently just taken off and flying back from his holiday! Im trying to keep busy, not a chance I’ll sleep tonight! 😂

Our pupils have been offered their GCSE results by text, from the exam boards. Is this not happening with A levels?

Wish our school did online. Instead we have to go in. It’s really hard I think. To make them face everyone else when it could easily be crushing news.

No gift planned as we've helped him with travelling costs this summer (as well as upcoming uni costs) but we'll take him out for a nice celebratory dinner this weekend (or takeaway if he doesn't want to go out if it doesn't go to plan)

I have a gift and card and will give him in before he gets results and log in UCAS. He has worked extremely hard and deserves it regardless of grades.

@manywanderings no gift giving here! But if I had it would be before any results were known as a well done for all the effort and hard work.

Has anyone got a gift to give? We got one and a card, regardless of what the results are but right now my brain is mush and can't decide when is the best time to give it? First thing in the morning? Later in the day? Wait until the dust settles?

Slight tension here as we said we want to drive him in in the morning as both he and I know he won't sleep and I'm worried it won't be safe to drive sleep deprived. I got a flat refusal! So now stressing about him driving!

da’s dchool doesn’t open until 9. I think he’ll check ucas first, if he wakes up in time! He seems very chilled, I’m trying to be too!

Can't believe results are finally coming tomorrow! Will definitely have a little glass of wine tonight...DC is planning to check results and UCAS updates at 8 am and then going into school for 8.30 if things go well. Otherwise he'll stay home and we'll be spending the morning on clearing lines....

10 and a bit hours. DS was fine but I imagine tonight not so much, just leaving work now pre-eclipse, so we shall see.

I think it's crackers that some schools still make them collect them on paper.

I'm an EO and an alevel mum and my school and DC school do email results on the dot of 8am.

Fyi on the maths, we received an email from Pearson today to say that actually the results were not outside the normal expectations for paper one.

Slightly jealous of those whose schools let you go in from 8am. Ours says from 9-10am so its a bit unfair on those who need clearing asap for competitive courses. Here's hoping we won't be in that position. So current plan is: 8am check UCAS. 9am arrive at school and I wait in car for her to text me (she says she wont be able to drive herself due to nerves!) Hoping she does well so that she lets me go into school and thank the staff (I work at the school but not in sixth form)

I dreamt DD got an A in a subject she didn't even take, that's the level of insanity here 🫣

Keeping everything crossed she gets what she needs.

Can I join? We're waiting for Btec rather than Alevels.
Dd is currently panicking, she's forcasted to get D* DD or A *AA. Needs ABB.
I'm confident and already checked clearing her course is now BBC so she'll be fine.

Checking in to the new thread (thanks @SilverBlue4) in preparation for tomorrow, or for distracting myself over a glass of wine this evening!

DS’s degree apprenticeship offer is slightly easier than his firm UCAS uni offer, so he plans to check UCAS first in the hope that if he gets his firm option he’s also got his DA offer. Has to travel into school to get his actual results and confirm this though, we’ll be driving him in.

Dds college is not opening tomorrow, so clearly not fussed about support through clearing.
Dd only want to do Primary with QTS and is taking a gap year to work in a school and get experience.
She worked really hard in her A levels so we can but hope. It would be too much to ask that she gets what she wants first time round but here's hoping!

Shame it’s too early/illegal to drink while in charge of a vehicle!

At DS's school only those who will need clearing have been asked to come in at 8, everyone else at 9.30, so I guess the assumption is they will all check UCAS first. This makes sense for us as we are less than five mins walk from the school but some kids are half an hour drive or more, I hadn't actually thought what they would do - will they drive up for 8am just in case?!
