A level results day 2026

Did your son apply to university? Has he had an acceptance or rejection via UCAS?

Has he been checking his personal email but they've been sent to his school email?

@PeonyBulb - I think he will stick, not twist. Course is still showing as available to both UK and international students and I really bloody wish it wasn't, tbh.

So we’ve just checked grade boundaries, and whilst in 3 of them he’s comfortably in the grade awarded-his further maths he’s 1 mark off an A star. So now deciding if it’s worth chasing that extra mark.

So what’s he going to do ? Apply for what he believes is the higher ranked uni ? A lot of higher ranked unis in clearing are showing this message. I know DDs is because I had a peek as to which unis were in clearing for her course and uni choices.

Still no results for us! I have posted on our towns social media page which has erupted into outrage - maybe something will happen tomorrow? I don’t know where or how else to try and get this sorted. I can’t find anyone else online that has ever been in this position.

@NurseRunner we're in the same position. Dd3 has firmed a university in Scotland which is about 8 hours from us and didn't want to do the ARP but she has submitted it (she's on holiday). She has told me she'll probably reject it even if they offer her a place (AuADH). At least we'll know by tomorrow! Dd3 did IB so has had her results and firm for weeks.

BTEC mum here, good news this morning. DS got accepted to his firm choice University. He achieved Distinction*, Distinction, Distinction exceeding his target of Distinction, Merit, Merit. Its so good for him as its Mechanical Engineering which his BTEC set him up for perfectly with work placements included in the course. I am so pleased because he started A-levels and did the first year of them and in his AS levels at the end of his first year got C,C,D and was so upset. The subjects just weren't right for him so after alot of tears and research we pivoted to doing a 2 year Level 3 Extended BTEC diploma in Manufacturing Engineering equivalent to 3 A-levels and from the first few weeks he was so interested and keen on it and happier. The tutors and lecturers were fabulous at supporting the students but also treated them like adults having high expectations for meeting deadlines and assignments. So it took an extra year to get there but they encouraged him to submit a UCAS application and supported him through the process. So if anyone is discouraged after GCSEs or AS levels and wants to change course I would recommend thinking about extended diploma BTECs as they can still lead to University/Degree Apprenticeships especially in a subject like Engineering

Results day has been really bad for us. DS got his place at Russell Group uni which he worked his butt off to get, but a higher-ranked university has gone into clearing asking for lower grades than he achieved. I know there are much worse problems to have, but DS has spent all day in an agony of indecision, we cannot enjoy anything or celebrate anything, it's been awful.

We had this problem, Dd had accomm booked for first choice which she missed, no accom booked for 2nd choice ,but we went with IQ student accomm and they were brilliant, don't know if the hsve any near KCL but I would recommend them

Dd missed out on hervfirst choice by one grade, needed AAA got AAB, went to her second choice in same city and loved it walked straight into a graduate job so it did her no harm

My son unexpectedly got into KCL - we thought he wanted a year off and to go to art school - so we are very unprepared and he has no accommodation. The univ website booking seems to be suspended until Monday. I feel clueless. Any advice on KCL halls at all here - or what to do? Thank you!

30 years since we went through this. I remember it well. As parents you’ve done everything you can, it’s up to them now. Fingers crossed for everyone for a happy outcome. X

Congrats to your dd!! I'm sure they'll both have a great time! We all loved Liverpool during the open day visit, but my dd decided to firm Notts as a couple of her friends did, so I think there was a bit of peer influence going on. Looks like none of her friends are going to Notts either (one got in, but chose a different course somewhere else via clearing), in a way I think it's for the best not to have your established friendship group with you so that you can make new uni friends.
My dd nearly put Liverpool as her insurance, but her school advised againts it- we were wondering if she could have had a Liverpool insurance offer today instead of a clearing offer, but hey ho- she's got an offer at a uni she loves and that's all that matters.

The Liverpool clearing process this year was quite nerve wrecking, they didn't have a clearing hotline at all, they only accepted clearing applications via a webform which of course crashed in the morning. My dd managed to submit at 8:30am and didn't get the offer email until the afternoon so a long anxious wait and lots of inbox refreshing 😁!

@ALevelBNotLevel school is correct. I'm an exams officer. Moderated work can only be Re-moderated on a whole cohort basis.

We have done it in the past but 1.it takes weeks and weeks. 2. Grades rarely change and can go down.

Still in a slight limbo here! She knew she had her place at a Durham before picking up her results, so that was a relief.

She’s 1 mark under the grade boundaries in both the A and the B; the school want a re-mark.
However, she’s eligible for the August Reconsideration Pool at Cambridge with those results, so she’s submitted the form… and now we wait until tomorrow!
She seems pretty relaxed now, currently out with her friends.
My younger daughter picked up her AS results today too - double results day! 3 A’s for her so she’s pleased.

I think the school were very confident in their marking and raised a complaint with the exam board?

Honestly, I think that so much happens on campus that his time will be full.
DD looked at Warwick but refused as I went there (as did her uncle and his wife) and she "wants her own place" which I can understand. Shame though as she'd also have had the coveted Venice term...

Your ds will absolutely love Warwick. It has a very full and vibrant student life. There is a society for just about everything, and he may end up joining loads of them in Freshers' week.

Warwick Castle isn't really that close to campus, and you need at least two buses to get there. That is not to say that your ds shouldn't visit or anything like that. It will just be a longer day out.

Stratford upon Avon is also lovely for a day out, as is Leamington Spa. Despite being a bit further away, think most students prefer to live in Leamington rather than Coventry, at least when I was there, but that may have changed

I spent quite a long time asking them if there was any way for the exam to be marked again and I was told no because the moderator marking the whole class was effectively a re-mark.
Perhaps the rules are different for GCSE.

If anyone who knows the rules can confirm that the teachers at the school were definitely wrong I will try again.

One of my DC is there and having an amazing time. Has friends in off-campus who have also had a blast so far. One is living with them next year. Other friends in off-campus are either in housing groups for second year with society/course friends or with current housemates (I just asked).

Can you raise it with them? I think DD2"'s school's GCSE moderator was harsh as the school had a really good record for getting marking correct before that. I felt the raise to an 8 but not back to a 9 was a bit political too. If he does art foundation could he apply again for the degree place he has just missed? Art foundation gives UCAS points too as I'm sure you know. DD1 also did art foundation and it pushed her out of her comfort zone and developed her practice. She's gone on to do a fashion and garment technology degree and the experience of being challenged on art foundation has helped with that.

He hasn't actually been to Warwick castle yet but I'm sure that will be a highlight! Exeter (think that's where your DC is going?) is such a lovely university, so green and modern. Hope your DC has a great time :)

dd got an A* and 2As, and has been accepted for Physics at Lancaster. She thought what she got was fair.

Re the Edexcel maths paper that made headlines, I found a table to compare the year by year boundaries for A Level Maths.

So reasonably consistent with the previous two years. We know why they were dragged down in 2020 - 2022, so can't really compare.

Grade boundaries for further maths on the other hand, were much higher this year with boundaries for each combination no less than 262, and the highest being 275 for an A*. dd got 266, but she's happy with her A.

We spoke to a deputy headteacher and an Art teacher at the school and getting the whole cohort re-marked was never suggested as an option even though it seemed that everyone was marked down.
He does have an offer to do a foundation year so he will do that.

@Fabfabfabmy DD seriously considered Warwick for History despite a) probably not meeting their grade requirements and b) wanting a campus based uni purely because of the proximity to Warwick castle and the opportunity to work there!
