A level results day 2026

Ds was rejected by Cambridge after interview, got 4A*s and went to another top university. He got a prize at the end of his first year for getting the highest mark on his course (aero and astro), graduated last year with a MEng, was going to do a PhD (the tutor said he wanted him on the research) but was headhunted and now has his dream job.

My oldest is 3 so no idea why I'm on this thread. But your post really touched me, so lovely how supportive you are and so happy for your son.

I think your best bet is contact the exam board and also maybe the LEA in charge of the school. According to google, you can request a certified statement of results. You need name DOB, photo ID and pay a small admin fee. His exam boards for his subjects will be somewhere in his documentation at home.

Another thing google suggested was make a note of his UCAS ID number. His grades will be within UCAS. When you phone universities, explain the school is closed and he hasn't been able to get his results yet but you have his UCAS ID and the results will be in there. And the University can check them that way. But if they won't do that and insist on the grades, then the exam board is probably the way to go.

The subject she was awarded 2 extra marks for was a science and the one she got 10 extra marks for was Eng Lit. She was so lucky that her school were so supportive. Her teachers went through the papers immediately and encouraged her to go for the re-mark. The Uni were also great and assured her that her place would be honoured if her grades went up.

Same with my son . He is absolutely flying with his career and living the life.

I would think they have been emailed and maybe to the wrong email address. there must be someone at the school - skeleton staff or something. Or do you have an email address or phone number for one of the teachers? Long shot - could you get them from the exam boards? Also maybe google the school web page and look to see if there's an emergency contact number or email. Which exams/boards did he take? It think Pearson Edexcel have something where you can get the results emailed. If the school has emailed them to him, get him to check any and all email addresses and junk mail folders. That answerphone message will be a standard one. There will be someone to contact in emergency. Google the headteacher or head of year! You might be able to track them down.

DD is going to KCL. Im sorry but the accomodation portal was an absolute sodding nightmare. We have already sorted accom as it was her firm. But it took all day of refreshing and waiting for what she wanted to come up. And their payment portal was equally shambolic. KCL is great but apparently renowned for their poor admin systems.

Yes that’s correct. The school just has an answerphone which states that no one will get back to any messages until September.

My DS was offered £5000 if he went to study Maths at the University of Strathclyde & £2000 if he went to Edinburgh. He decided against both, going to Uni of Glasgow - but no offers of a bursary from there. He did do exceptionally in exams (Scottish) & has just graduated with a v high 1st in Maths & Statistics.

He was rejected from Oxford, but I do think this was the right result: I don't think it would have been a good fit. Now that he's done so well at university, I think 'Your loss Oxford!' 😁

So is the problem that you can't get his results? So when you phone for clearing you can't give his results? Surely his school or college will have the results and can give them over the phone or email them? There will still be places in clearing tomorrow. I would phone his school first thing, get his results, and then phone around clearing. Tonight you can make a short list of who to contact. Have a look at Liverpool's website - their clearing places are online and you do it all online.

Yes he previously arranged with the head of 6th form / his tutor that he wouldn’t be going in. They confirmed they would email everyone’s results out regardless of whether they went in or not. He contacted them at 10.30 and was told they were busy but they would email at the very latest when they closed at lunchtime. So they closed - and then no email.

Did he let the school/college know that he wasn't going to be going in to collect his results and request them emailed to him? I'm not sure how it works with A levels but for GCSEs we were asked to let them know by a certain date if we wouldn't be attending in person and wanted results emailed.

We are hoping on this, but a long shot I guess. Your story is great. Was it Arts or Stem?

@NurseRunner and @Manthide - same here for DS. He's happy with firm but no harm having a punt on the ARP, see what happens. Gives today a slight sense of limbo but keeps things interesting and we should know by Saturday. Lots of luck!

@Lemons1571 hope you get sorted tomorrow. Out of curiosity did he refuse to go to school this morning? I can’t understand not going in results day morning when he hadn’t got the email. But what’s done is done.

His friends are talking about their accommodation, joining freshers chats online etc. feels like we are being left behind.

He’s eligible for clearing, but we are not getting anywhere as all the unis we call want his results before taking it any further.

He had two backups identified but they’ve both disappeared from the clearing options now?

@Lemons1571 I’d get him to go at 9am tomorrow in person. There will be some staff dealing with reviews of marking applications. There were definitely admin staff in DD’s school results week.

I guess that's why the school are reluctant to push for the whole cohort to be re-marked as it could negatively impact a number of other students.

@StrangerThanTannadiceI hope once they’ve made a decision either way they will be able to relax a bit and celebrate their success.

@Fabfabfaband the others going to Warwick we live around 20 minutes drive away and would be more than happy to take them in/feed them/ help out if ever they were having any problems or even a bit of a wobble and if ever you couldn’t get to them quickly then you’d only have to ask. Leamington is lovely as others have said and DS and DD go out in Coventry on occasion and although it’s got a bit of a bad reputation have not felt unsafe and like the city.

To those of you with dc who were close to a grade boundary… I’d advise going for that re-mark. This time last year my dd was devastated at having missed her place at Oxford because of a rogue B grade, missing her A by 2 marks. School immediately looked at her papers and advised one of them being sent for a priority re-mark. It came back within a couple of days as an A and the place at Oxford was hers.
School also advised that her A subject was sent for a re-mark as she was 2 marks off an A star. Her teacher for this subject looked at the papers and was convinced she was a solid A star. Following a re-mark she was awarded 10 extra marks and bumped up to an A star.
