Well done to all those interviews, and fingers crossed xx DD has now also got an interview at her third choice, an email from her first choice saying her application was being processed and they would be in contact about an interview soon...

Great news @bluefineliner . What do interviews for med school look like? Does she need to go in person or is it online?

When are everyone else’s mocks? Ds’s are straight after Christmas.

That’s wonderful news @bluefineliner! Having only a few weeks to prepare does mean only a few short weeks to worry 😊 I’m sure she will do well though.

I hope mocks are going well @AuntyBulgaria🤞 Personally I think these mocks are so the teachers can stand in front of the students and tell them they must do more work! I remember my entire class getting E’s in our literature mock and the teacher standing in front of us crying. We all did fine in the real thing but it did give us a collective boot up the behind.

Just a little update from us, after what has seemed like an eternity of waiting DD got an interview for med at Newcastle today. It is in December so not too long to prepare but she is delighted to actually hear something at last. Newcastle is her favourite too so hoping it goes ok. Still 3 more to hear from but they may not contact for another few weeks. Urgh the waiting is painful!

Great that others have those offers coming through now.

Now that DS has his predictions and has submitted his UCAS I think he started to feel like that was it and he could relax. Far from it!

He has to now get offers - which is not a given, considering some of the aspirational choices he has put down. Then actually achieve the required grades which are high. He is in the middle of his mocks and is taking a relatively relaxed approach to revision but at least these cannot affect his predictions!

So much could still go wrong!

7 weeks @ArchitectureMum ?! 😮 I'm more antsy about if they want him to change his personal statement as I'd rather get that sorted ASAP if it needs doing.

@MamOfTwo The Edinburgh offer-holder day DD had an email about today isn’t on a weekend - 22 April is a Wednesday. I think for some unis you get offered a choice of days for your subject.

@MamOfTwo some universities already have information about offer holder days on their websites.

I am a bit confused about offer holder days and how that all works. DD is lucky to have four offers so far but I don't think she has any info on offer days (unless she just hasn't mentioned it!). Do you think offer holder days generally fall on the same weekends for most unis (as a lot of uni open days did)? It's just she's stuck between two and it would be good to go both if possible.

I'm not too bothered now I know we're just waiting because it's not gone yet. But hopefully they'll sort out before too long.

DS' internal school deadline is tomorrow. He only finished drafting his personal statement today and will submit it tomorrow.
Also only finally decided on courses today as well! It's been driving me mad all this leaving to the last minute.
He has picked some fairly aspirational choices so I won't be surprised if he doesn't get offers for them all.

Our only update is a date in the calendar for an Edinburgh offer-holder day: 22 April. It’s later in the month than I was expecting, but good to know.

My DS waited 7 weeks for his school to submit his UCAS after he submitted his bit 3 years ago. End of November to mid January. I feel your pain. The school will get it in before the deadlune. Hang in there.

Its so frustrating isn't it @Echobelly ? I asked DS to speak to the person who is meant to be doing it and just ask when he might be able to speak to them about it but he refused as he didn't want to annoy them.

Yes, I asked DC if he'd heard anything and he said the school was waiting to check them before sending off, so in the same boat @JustHereWithMyPopcorn

We're still waiting for school to even look at DS's application, it's been over a week now and no mention of anything. Sigh.

I guess I do worry slightly about it given one of my best friends at school applied for medicine - straight A student, you'd think anywhere would be champing at the bit to have her for medicine... and she didn't get any offers. I think it was just really bad luck and everywhere maybe assumed obviously somewhere else would give her an offer. I can't remember now if she took a year off and reapplied or just managed to get a place once her results were in but she did go on to do it.

@Echobelly DS is applying for maths and he had 2 offers back within 3 days of his application being submitted, but nothing else for the last 4 weeks!

My DC got her first offer (Bristol) within 48 hours of applying. She's hoping for a less popular humanities course, however, so they may offer unusually quickly.

Well done to all for the offers coming in, it is an exciting time for our YP as well as being stressful y13 too. They can really start visualising where they might be living next year!

DD is in limbo waiting to hear about possible medicine interviews. They have started trickling through last week, but not for the unis she's applied for, most of which are later going on previous years. We obviously knew this before applying but it doesn't stop the feeling of being constantly on alert for when/if she hears anything. She is doing interview prep but feels it would be much more focused if she knew where she would be interviewing for 😂.

We have a face to face parents evening this week, the first one in DDs secondary school years! They have all been on zoom from covid onwards, and she moved schools for 6th form so it will be funny to go now, just as she nears the end of her school years.

DC has applied for anthropology, so they probably have more people to choose from then!
