History NEA back here too - A grade. I wonder how moderation works for NEAs - do all schools have to send some random ones off for moderating or not?

NEAs back here too 30/40 in history and 42/60 in Geography. Delighted with history bit disappointed in Geography. Just below an A on last years marks.
I'm very pleased, good step towards final marks.

Oooh @Fabfabfab - one beastly mark! But then presumably the notional grade for the NEA doesn’t actually matter, does it? He’s got a good mark which will stand him in good stead in the final analysis. Well done to him.

French speaking went very well, apparently - thanks @Ventress . But then if there’s anything this girl likes doing, it’s chatting away in French! Bigger challenges to come, but nice to have 30% of a subject done.

DC got his English coursework NEA back - 1 mark off an Astar which was a bit annoying. He only needs an A in English but obviously the higher the grade the better in case the exams are challenging. Not sure whether it’s worth having it remarked at this stage. No idea how it works. Saying that, I was pleased he got an A in the first place.

Goodness, it seems so amazing that our young people are moving away and taking out debt @gingercat02I think they have to try and block out the amount or it gets overwhelming.

DS has a “mini mock” this afternoon. He has had them all week which is lucky as he seems to do no revision at home!

How did the Manchester visit go, @Echobelly? We loved it when we went to an open day.

DD has her French speaking exam today, so I’m awaiting an update!

DH is visiting Manchester with DC so we'll see if they still want to stay in London or go for there instead after today. The two of them managed to organise a faculty tour and to meet some of the academics. DC has some concern about distance, which is kind of surprising given they are so independent, and size of the uni (they like the small cohort at Goldsmiths), but maybe a visit will help - or confirm they're not so comfortable with it. But it felt like they hadn't given it a chance by not properly visiting - they happened to go to an event there a few months ago, but it's not the same as avidly getting a faculty tour etc.

Accommodation provisionally booked and first year finance done. It's really sad for a 17yo to have signed himself up to nearly £16K of debt

DS booked a place in Goldsmid - he’s very happy as it’s in Westminster which is his favourite location, and has a small double bed which might be long enough 😂

John Tovell looks fantastic. Your dd will have a great time. DS is doing history and really looking forward to UCL!

@AuntyBulgaria It is a scary thought. Only 2 weeks left. Our DS is focusing on Econ and his 3rd subject. Maths will be two weeks later, so that is on the backburner 🤦‍♀️😭
We are still waiting for his last offer (which is probably a rejection now), but he knows what he will firm.

UCL released a load of accommodation around 3pm this afternoon. We'd been checking regularly for a week. Have another look @Ventress

I think the deadline for submission of NEA is 15th May and they should all hear a while before this in case anyone wants to appeal.
My son's comp sci mark will come by the 5th May apparently.

I've been trying to mark his past papers to lighten the load (and avoid optimistic marking) but it's not easy!! And is making me feel really stressed 🤣 anyone know if AI can mark maths written in scrawly handwriting??

We actually quite like the black box now! It's reassuring to know they are driving well, and DC quite likes looking at his score. Maybe it gives him a sense of control in an uncertain time and at least he knows he can get a good driving score. Hopefully a-level results will also be good. Not heard back re the NEA yet, some people seem to have though but not at his college I don't think. He's got another week before study leave and doing mini mocks again this week at college.

DS finishes school on Friday 😮 but back in on Tuesday for leavers day celebrations (or muck up day as the kids call it!)

Very little revision happening here but I know the school are just revising with them now in every lesson. He's doing the odd practice paper at home and seems to be in the right ball park gradewide but he is doing his own marking so who knows! I have tried to do the marking for him but I struggle with some of the mark schemes particularly Chemistry as I haven't got a clue. First exam is Physics on 20th May. 😬 He has had confirmation that his Physics and Chemistry practicals stuff has all passed.

Nightmare on the UCL accommodation @Ventress can you seek private accommodation? Bath opens next week, I've told DS that, despite him wanting to live in the most expensive halls, we will be ranking options on the cheapest first!

Well DS has apparently done no revision yet. Not sure what I can do about that although I will encourage him to revise of course. We also have had no joy with the UCL accommodation portal- there is just nothing available apart from the most expensive , new, building which is in Canary Wharf. I can’t help with the portal as it needs an authentication code which is attached to DS’ email address.

First 12th May, last 11th June. It's all a bit mad. NEAs back this week, so hopefully that will be a boost.
He is working hard but still struggling with anxiety 😕
Driving lessons and a job hopefully post exams.

DC was out most of yesterday for best friend's 18th, but has been home all day revising (in between learning songs on the accordion, this being latest hobby).

They have made an enquiry about a tattoo they want to book in after their birthday in June. 😮

Relishing the freedom from Art here. Booking haircuts and hobbies. DD also has made a revision timetable for her two remaining subjects but it feels like balance has returned. A bit odd 8 weeks before the end of her A levels but I am so pleased for her.

She will find out her Art course work and EPQ unmoderated marks next week. Hoping they will be encouraging.

Regret for doing four subjects weighing heavily here at the mo..

Study leave starts 11th May, first exam 20th.

How are everyone's young person doing? We have the first exam (economics) two weeks tomorrow.
DS appears to have actually done some revision this weekend! So that's something.

He appears to be focusing heavily on maths and further maths as he needs very top grades for those. Not sure Economics is getting much of a look in - but I understand his logic. He needs a B in that which should be possible without too much extra effort.

I hope everyone is keeping calm!
