PGCE in my 50,s

Hi I'm 50+ and want a career change... Would of loved early years: nursery/ reception but I feel I'm a bit old and the school restrictions would be like a butterfly in a jar.
So college, I would love to do a PGCE to teach health and social care, yes I have a degree (many moons ago)and experience in social care.... But I'm more hands on... Not academic...So anyone done a PGCE in a vocational subject? Any over 50+ ?
I gather it's a pass or fail course... Wish me luck

You could also re-start your thread there, if you want. It’s totally geared to people of all ages going back to study.

(I took an MA in a completely new to me subject, 30 years after my first degree and professional qualification. There are lots of experiences like that on the board.)

You don't need a PGCE to teach in FE. Apply for any vacancies give it a go and they will offer you the FE equivalent teaching qualification along side your job. Might be in year 1 or if you stick it out a year.

FE like unqualified but professionally registered teaching staff, you're cheaper so might actually be an advantage at recruitment stage.
