What subject did you do at Uni and would you do the same subject again.

I did English as it was my best subject. I wish I’d done something that was more of a challenge at uni - maybe anthropology? But not something I found so easy.

Knowing myself as I do now, I would have liked to have done something in public health.

Biology specialising in Cell and Molecular Biology followed by Mphil in research.

Still my favourite subject.

If I had to go again I would choose Psychology with criminology. Or physics with philosophy.

Psychology. I'd do it again in a heartbeat. I managed to balance the social aspects of it with neuroscience and could choose BA or BSc when it came to graduating. It's a degree subject with endless possibilities imo.

I didn't go to uni decided to travel instead. However my friends went to Uni and none of them are working in a field related to their degree.

I have a Theology degree, a post grad cert and a masters. I would have done a different course at masters level. A profession specific one to get me out of the whole that is teaching.

It's no different now. It was slightly better about 20 years ago, but the small improvements that had been made were immediately reversed by Lord Snooty Cameron.

I did pharmacology, which is interesting and which I now teach at a university after many years working in biomedical research. If I had my time again, though, I think I'd do pharmacy to have a professional qualification and opportunities for parallel academic and professional careers. But, most of all, I'd like to have been able to retire early and study something I'm genuinely interested in, like history or philosophy.

Medicine. I would do it again in a heart . It’s a hard job, stress through the roof, long days, not enough resources to do what you should, horrendous amount paperwork… but it’s my calling… and I am not religious at all!

I did physics and enjoyed it. I am now learning languages and should done that

History. I don’t use it in my job but yes, I’d do it again. I’d love to do it again in fact. History has given me so much interest and enjoyment my whole life. My DD1 followed in my footsteps and did a history degree too.

Economics. It is a great degree as a foundation for other things. Lots of maths and stats but we also had subject options in Law, social and industrial economics, politics, philosophy together with the core macro and micro economics so lots of essay writing as well.
I went into IT and the maths and stats was very useful. Occasionally worked for financial institutions so the economics came in hand there.

Having said that, I’d do history next time.

English. Should have done History or Politics.
None of them connected to my career though.

Maths, because it was sensible and I was good at it/it came fairly easily for me rather than because it was a passion.

I’d do it again, I went on to do a MSc, PhD and MBA over a long career which weaved its way through a couple of sectors. I’m now SLT in a niche job where I use my PhD (and MBA skills I guess).

Maths is a good degree that opens a lot of doors in my experience.

History. I should have done politics. I was very bored and hardly went to any lectures.

Law. Yes, I'd do it again. Some modules were very dry (equity and trusts as one example 😴) but electives were interesting - particularly enjoyed medical law and ethics. It's well regarded so even if not pursuing law it opens doors.

Me too. I assume the question meant “if you went back in time knowing what you know now would you choose that topic again” but I would do an English degree again even having already done it, if that wasn’t a bit mad, given the wide range of literature you can study. In fact I often dream I am.

Medicine. Yes (just, hard one. My parents do their best to convince others to do anything else but

English Lit. It bored me stupid but I stuck it out.

If I did my time again, I'd go down the vocational routes and do something in textiles....

Or, if I did stick with academia then I'd like to do politics or social and public policy.

Are people regretting uni choices because of their current salary and whether it narrowed career choice.

Primary Education. Absolutely would not do it again.

Music; hated it (Oxford).

Did a Psychology MSc recently - loved it.

I wish my parents had encouraged me to work for a couple of years before uni. I didn't know what my passion was and I was really immature and disorganised, and just not interested in what uni had to offer at that stage in my life. Looking back, I had undiagnosed ADHD and struggled.

Biochemistry. Loved it and now a Professor. Sometimes think being a vet would have been a better option.

English language and literature. I loved it. Worked as a creative in television and radio for many years
