I've just realised that the year 12 2023/2024 thread is full - oops! - last message on 16 August - don't know if someone started another continuation thread but I can't see it. This coming year DS1 does A levels and university applications, DS2 will be in his GCSE year.

If there is a thread already started please let me know.

Sorry to be that person but all done here! He enjoyed a LONG lie in today 😅
Good luck everyone still going..

Congrats @Monstermunchy - how lovely to have all of that behind you both! DC1 is trucking on until the 19th. Next one is tomorrow - her least favoured Spanish paper. Then, "for fun" on Saturday she's chosen to do a three hour grade 8 music theory exam, which is of no bearing whatsoever for her university choices. Madness.

GingerPussInBoots · 10/06/2025 14:15

today’s went well, one more to go

mumonthehill · 10/06/2025 13:56

@Monstermunchy congrats!!! Ds not home but said chemistry was ok which is good. As lasts years AS was a disaster I am taking this as a good sign!

DD has just done AQA chemistry and thought it went well. I’m very relieved as she has found it difficult. Paper 3 is her weakest paper but she has over another week to revise for that so that’s good news. 3 more to go English lit tomorrow and then the last 2 chemistry. Can’t wait for the 20th! Good luck to everyone’s young people takiing their exams.

Beabea8 · 10/06/2025 11:34

Anyone else's child doing OCR Chemistry?

Changes17 · 10/06/2025 11:30

DS’ exams ongoing to June 19. So far A-levels seem to have gone fairly well, fingers crossed. Lots of gaming seems to be involved, as well as tennis with friends.

Beabea8 · 10/06/2025 11:28

Waiting for son to come out of Chemisty. Hes really found Chemistry very hard. Fingers crossed for them all 🙏
Son says paper 1 he finds the hardest.

mumonthehill · 10/06/2025 11:27

@jamimmi no we have biology this Friday and the last Chemistry Monday 16th. WJEC here. I have just checked!!!

jamimmi · 10/06/2025 10:57

@mumonthehill just checking and don't want to burst your bubble but if doing chemistry I think the last one is a week on Friday, not next Monday 😒

MonkeyTennis34 · 10/06/2025 07:27

DS2 thought Physics was “a little better than expected” yesterday.
2 more Maths, 1 more Physics then it’s the Big Summer Job Quest…

mumonthehill · 10/06/2025 05:54

Keep going everyone!!!! Chemistry today here as well. Count down is on until next Monday snd the last one!

Earlymornyawn · 09/06/2025 23:00

@jamimmi same for my DC, 3 exams this week and 4 next week 😞.

@TheTurn0fTheScrew that sounds really tough, is it worth calling the school to ask for special consideration to be applied?

Good luck to everyone taking exams this week.

jamimmi · 09/06/2025 22:39

So jealous of you all coming to an end . We are just at the beginning with only 2 exams.done and 7 to go. Three this week.and 4 next. OCR chemistry tomorrow then math and biology Thursday and Friday. Dd looks exhausted already! Any tips for keeping them going other than.cofffee, coke and sugar??

Fluffycloudsfloatinginthesky · 09/06/2025 20:52

Just sociology paper 3 left for my daughter now. She’s glad it’s nearly at an end. The anxiety has lessened over the exams.

TheTurn0fTheScrew · 09/06/2025 20:24

DC1 came home quite pissed off about her Music paper today. The invigilators could not find (!) the third recording that they were asked to write about. This caused quite a lot of confusion and stress, with the exam clock still running. Apparently, they were given an extra 5 minutes at the end "to make up for this". However DC1 reckons the delays were much more than 5 minute. Also they were informed about this extra time until the end of the exam, by which time she'd already rushed through her long essay and couldn't easily revisit it Hmm.

SweetChilliGirl · 09/06/2025 19:36

Is anyone's DD/DS taking EDEXCEL RPE? First paper tomorrow 😬

Jowak1 · 09/06/2025 19:33

I do know there was a lot of criticism of physics paper 2 by AQA last year reading The Student Room and Reddit comments.

autumndays13 · 09/06/2025 19:32

🤞 @Jowak1
DD was initially happy with paper 1 but now thinks it was her worst by far. I think AQA physics has a reputation for producing so odd papers.

halloween67 · 09/06/2025 19:24

I don’t think anyone knows what’s happening with these exams, they seem all over the place this year unfortunately.

Jowak1 · 09/06/2025 19:23

Thank you for replying @halloween67 and @autumndays13. Hopefully they will all have done ok 🤞

autumndays13 · 09/06/2025 18:40

My DD sat the AQA physics paper 2 today. She said a lot of her class were really unhappy with it and has seen a lot of angry/upset comments on Reddit. She actually preferred this paper to paper 1. She did work especially hard for today’s paper though.
