This is a thread for supporting all young people post GCSEs 2020, regardless of their educational setting. It is respectfully requested that all are supportive and helpful to each other. If you want to start a debate, e.g state vs private, please don't within this thread. Please also be sensitive when responding to posts about grades.

Some of us have been here since first thread back in yr10, some will be new. Everyone has been friendly and helpful in the past. Everyone is welcome. It is hoped this goodwill continues.

Our DS/DD may go down various paths (such as employment, apprenticeships, higher ed) We have decided, for anyone interested, they will most likely find us within the Further Ed board.

Thanks to @ProggyMat the family now thinks I’m psychic - after seeing news of Proggy Jnr’s offer casually suggested DS check his emails just in case. DS has UCL offer! Needs 36 points in total (minimum of 17 at HL and no subjects under 5). Congrats to orange and blue.

I've never been to Bournemouth or Winchester so where do I sign up to be educated? However in a past life I've delivered training to staff at L, does that make me an undesirable?

Dd has two offer holder days booked in mid Feb and first week of March.

My nephew at Lancs is loving it and is really embracing student life...the campus seems to facilitate it. Nephew at RHU not really getting on with those in his flat and finding it much harder but I'm sure he'll get there in New Year

DD got one too just now! Birmingham (AAB). She also got RHUL and Lancaster asking for BBB so she has all 5 offers now!

A couple of DDs choices said that they would not offer until after all offers were in but did go on to release early ones- fingers crossed for your DD!

Dd is wondering why she hasn’t had a Nottingham offer yet. Bath have already said they’re waiting till all applications are in.

I'm actually already studying my MBA with one of those places @ExquisitelyDecorated need to pull my finger out Wink

Dd has another Music offer! So that's offer from Sussex ABB, Interview from Cardiff, offer from Surrey at BCC (contextual apparently). Awaiting RHU and an interview from Southampton (who need to hurry up pleeeeeaaaase).

Surrey would be an ideal back up with those grades..but she keeps in saying she can't see herself studying there. She was slightly annoyed with them on the open day with regard to how they pitched their offer to the Tonmeister students and everyone else seemed to be an afterthought. They were also vague about who required and interview/didn't.

DD’s PCR is negative though housemate has tested positive. She’s going to boyfriend’s house as can’t risk having them here at same time as 84 year old Dad with COPD but hopefully coming Christmas Eve when he is gone . Haven’t seen her since September and was so looking forward to this week but it is what it is no great surprise for 2021.

At Bournemouth the history degree is in the faculty of media and comms as opposed to humanities which is interesting, it is very focussed on engaging with the public.
