Hi 👋
I thought it might be nice to have a support thread for us parents? (Can't see one in further Ed yet??)
It's been such a difficult time for our kids - and for us! - but the end is in sight!
Ds will get an e mail at 8.30am (apparently) and can go into college in person if he needs help/advice.
Good luck everyone!

Been tossing and turning all night. DS still asleep - how?!!!!!

So many worries - if it will be the chaos of last year, if he doesn;t get in then what will he want to do, if he does get in accommodation for his uni. Its bloody horrible.

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 10/08/2021 07:34

Me too re: the horse! 😀

Bryonyshcmyony · 10/08/2021 07:34

Dh is up and cheerful "what are you worried about she'll be absolutely fine" wish I was him sometimes

IDidntFloatUpTheLaganInABubble · 10/08/2021 07:32

I'm starting to feel more and more sick!

vjg13 · 10/08/2021 07:29

My daughter's school is doing electronic results at 8:30,

@storminasnowglobe

Good luck everyone! I should be up and doing the horses but I'm lying in bed in a weird state of paralysis at the moment! Afraid to get up and face the day!
Exactly the same here!! Have two horses thst need feeding. Can't even bear to make myself a coffee
vjg13 · 10/08/2021 07:28

@Bryonyshcmyony

I remember a few years ago Dd1 being devastated by her exam results First she heard was a rejection email from the uni she desperately wanted to go to then finally got her results and they weren't good. I'll never forget the upset that day. Her back up uni accepted her though, she went there, loved it and is doing really well Everything works out in the end
Thank you Smile

I’ve just gone through the entire website for college. No time given but when I google it says 7am but for last year! You think the time would be the one thing they communicated correctly.

Good luck all!

FoxHenDrama · 10/08/2021 07:22

Morning all. Hope everyone slept well. I woke up about 6, feeling ok, but the nerves are kicking in now! DS is still asleepHmm

SureBorisKnowsWhatHesDoingNOT · 10/08/2021 07:22

@Longtimenewsee - I want to know the same! Anyone know?!

Darbs76 · 10/08/2021 07:19

Good luck to everyone. My son has another year yet, he should have been getting results today for subject but the school decided to keep that course to 2yrs. What a tough year it’s been for all students

Apocalyptichorsewoman · 10/08/2021 07:18

Ds2 got his STEP results through for Cambridge - not good - lets see what happens...

Bryonyshcmyony · 10/08/2021 07:13

8.30am for us...

Iimaginethiswillbefun · 10/08/2021 07:12

We were told 7am results would be uploaded online. Nothing yet!!

vjg13 · 10/08/2021 07:06

I did sleep but it was a bit fitful and awake for a while. Good luck to all our young people! It will all work out! Smile

NotSorry · 10/08/2021 07:05

Morning ladies, terrible night’s sleep but as I did all my work yesterday and I can go back to bed at some stage today.

Not long to go now, good luck to all the DC and if any teachers are reading, thanks to you all, it’s not been easy for you either

ablutiions · 10/08/2021 06:54

@SallyOMalley good luck to you as well. I can imagine that it will be quite stressful for you too!

What advice would you have for us to a) make your life easier and more efficient, and b) to help our DCs maximise their chances? Thanks.

Antiqueanniesmagiclanternshow · 10/08/2021 06:52

Another who hasn't slept here. Have got up, made tea, put a load in the washing machine and one in the drier.
Will go and get showered and dressed soon...out my armour on ready to face the day. Feel absolutely sick.

Iimaginethiswillbefun · 10/08/2021 06:29

Have been awake since 4, ds seems to be sleeping quite peacefully. Why do we as parents always carry the burden of fear! I have that anxious can’t eat feeling which pisses me off. Today I will probably lose more weight than I have in the last two weeks of strict dieting.

SallyOMalley · 10/08/2021 06:27

I'm on the other side of the fence: I work for a uni and will be on the phones today.

What an incredibly tough couple of years for these young people getting their results today. My colleagues and I always try to remember that we're talking to people who might be stressed and worried and we always do our best to help. It's important to us that we see beyond the figures.

Good luck to you all today Flowers

AncientandFabulous · 10/08/2021 06:24

Good luck everyone.

Been awake since 5.30 & going through clearing on ucas to see alternatives.

I’m already pissed off with talks of grade inflation. But was ever thus!

NettleMania · 10/08/2021 06:24

I'm awake too.

No idea what to expect this morning as DD has had a rotten time of it (not the only one, I know) with MH and hated the isolation of online learning.

She's decided to take a year out to travel (hopefully) and get some real life experience, working.

These exam results will be important for next year, but even if they are n't good, she definitely doesn't want to go back to repeat a year!

Good luck to us all today - not long to wait now...
