A level results day 2021 support thread

Hi 👋
I thought it might be nice to have a support thread for us parents? (Can't see one in further Ed yet??)
It's been such a difficult time for our kids - and for us! - but the end is in sight!
Ds will get an e mail at 8.30am (apparently) and can go into college in person if he needs help/advice.

3 A*'s and an A - he's going to Bath!! 😀😀
He was a bit disappointed to miss out on Cambridge, but he is well happy with Bath, and much relieved - am so proud of him! 😁

Ds2 finally managed to log on about 8.45, firm choice of Loughborough confirmed, so so pleased for him. Don't know results yet, going in now, well done to all who got what they needed. If your dc didn't, please look at clearing or appeals

Dd firm confirmed, so just waiting for traffic to calm down so we can collect results. She had her heart set on the course at Cardiff for 18 months.

DD got slightly higher than her offer and place at Cardiff confirmed. So relieved. And now she can really concentrate on getting better.

UCAS confirmed place for Swansea. Off to get results now. So relieved. Had to wake DS up, then shower etc. He's so chilled. I was not! ✨😯

DS got an unconditional offer from his insurance but no news from his firm. How does that work?

But extremely chuffed that he has a place. I cried with relief. Well done to my boy.

Congratulations and commiserations to others. Bloody UCAS though !

Insurance will only consider a student after Firm has rejected. If a narrow miss it might be worth a call or see if a related course at same uni is in Clearing, or subjectwith a foundation year.

Both DTs confirmed now - v happy and relieved! Only one set of results in, though, because typically they chose to receive them in different ways - DT2 by email, DT1 getting ready to go in to school at 9 Grin

Maria - phone first choice and see if they’ll accept. If not have a look at clearing courses - there are still some good options out there.

DS got accepted at Loughborough, even though he got well below needed grades? He got a conditional offer for A*AA, results were AAB but he still got in?

Now worried there’s a mistake?

DD didn't get UCL but got Queen Mary, absolutely distraught.

Shes going to go in and see what her grades were and see if her teachers feel there is any grounds for appeal. She was predicted AAA

She just said I feel so dumb, broke my heart

@MMMMMaria Sorry ... that means DC will have been rejected by firm too - insurance can only consider once rejected by firm

You need to help DC look at options incl clearing

Sorry to hear that, @MMMMMaria. The firm choice may still be deciding. If it hasn't updated I think you phone once lines are open; but that's only based on one of the links I read yesterday, not experience.
