If the place is confirmed in Track then there is nothing more to do now. He will get info from the Uni on next steps.

Dgd got confirmed offer from her first choice, Cardiff. They wanted AAB but have accepted ABB. A was in chosen subject.

DS is off to Cardiff - so relieved! He got B in computing a level (was hoping for an A, but his teacher said his was one of the papers that got sent for moderation and he was borderline A/B but came back as a B and she was gutted, so no inflation there sadly) and he got D* x 2 and D in BTEc so ended up with 170 ucas points lol! He's happy and that's all that counts.

Can I ask, DS has place confirmed, is there something he has to do now? He wouldn't log in in front of me, now gone out, does he need to accept and if so when by? He's so disorganised, it would be just our luck if he lost it due to not completing a step?

Need to find out which accommodation he gets now. Fingers crossed it's close to or on campus. He only put his finance form in 10 days ago, I only found out when I asked him to follow up why I hadn't had a request yet for financial information. He said he'd given up applying for finance as he couldn't log in. Didn't think to tell me. 😭

Ah right i see. He’s made up he’s got a place and to be fair I think he could have done even better if he’d have actually sat the exams but it’s over with now and he’s happy so that’s the main thing.

Maybe as @Bryonyshcmyony says, or it might be that his application was strong enough in other ways that they could forgive him a dropped grade.

Very happy house here too. One grade higher than needed for all subjects which just about makes up for having COVID. Off to Lancaster he goes 😊.

Daughter didn't get the results she needed (as expected). She got three Bs and really needs AAB.
She wants to sit the in person A-level exams this October. Does anyone know of any crammers that'll prepare her for these?

Universities have discretion to take someone even if they miss a grade or two. The conditional offer simply means that you are guaranteed a place if you make the grades i.e. the Uni can't take it away. The Uni will know how many places have been filled and may prefer a candidate that chose them from the beginning who they have already considered than having to offer the place in clearing to a new candidate who may have similar grades anyway.

Yes that happens, 10 UCAS points is a tiny bit over one A level grade, so he wasn't far off. Sometimes unis reject in this kind of situation but sometimes they let them in. Celebrate!

Ds has his grades which should be enough but track still hasn’t updated.

Hi. Can I just jump on to ask advice. My ds has been accepted to his first choice but he doesn’t understand how as he was short by 10 UCAS points. He did really well in 2 subjects but more or less failed his 3 subject. He hasn’t had to go clearing and has his offer though at 8.40 before he’d even checked his exam results. Is this usual? As I thought he’d be declined a place.

Phew, mine has done really well with A+ B+ & B, after being convinced she'd just scraped by if that. Especially thrilled as we know how badly she has coped with online learning etc. She was predicted higher, so no grade inflation here either, but we are relieved given how much she has struggled

No Uni to worry about yet, but her grades should make that pretty easy next when that time comes

DS has exceeded expectations overall , though one grade is a bit disappointing. But he got what he needed for his preferred course - just need to check if he can defer now. I'm hoping that the fact that he has a medical reason for deferral will count in his favour.
Having done better than expected he is wavering slightly and considering just declining and reapplying next year, but he still doesn't quite meet the requirements for his dream option so my gut feeling is that he should stick with what he has. In these uncertain times, a bird in the hand is definitely worth having I think.
Worst thing here this morning is that in my anxiety I forgot to complete my Tesco order last night. I'd secured the slot ages ago by putting a couple of items in the basket but forgot to add anything else......whoops...
Well done to all who've got their first choice, commiserations to those who haven't and good luck to those still waiting. Remember that there are many roads to Rome and though disappointment today may feel like the end of the world, it isn't. All our young people have done brilliantly to get through this last couple of years.

Ds2 got just over what he needed for southampton…

He went to college to pick it up and was only of a handful of students there

Congratulations to everyone who got what they wanted/needed and commiserations to those who didnt…we all know its not the end of the world but bloody hell does it feel like it is!

Agree @KittyMcKitty, DS and friends all have grades below mocks or predicted

This was us last year DS1 got into his first and proud auntie today my nephew got into Liverpool to study politics and history he’s a bit gutted with his results but it was enough for his first choice
