GCSE'S 2019 Done, Results Received, Moving on to 6th Form and College

I understand but it wasn’t easy! Although it’s a bit of an unknown board , only private schools do it.

@ROZ12 I don't think it works like that - 68% is a different grade for different exam boards because they sit different exams. Grade boundaries are created to allow a certain percentage of A's B's etc. So it's possible for 68% to be a grade 9 if the exam was particularly difficult or a grade C if the exam was on the easy side.

It is so annoying, does anyone think that unis look at boards when looking at gcse results?
As I said 68% is an 8 for Aqa and edexcel Spanish and only a C for cie board.

Remark came back at last but stayed the same , c grade at 69% , one more mark was needed for a B . Just upsetting as we looked at other Spanish grade boundaries for other boards and 69% is an 8!! AngryCie Angry

Yes, Dd is also going to drop one of her A level subjects
Shes enjoying them all at the moment. We are going to do a few more uni visits to help clarify which one to drop as she interested in 2 very different areas
She’s spoken to her form tutor about it and her tutor said that’s fine and recommended sorting it by Xmas.

Fos please to hear your dd is on the mend.

Dd is thinking about when to drop her 4th alevel. She is taking lit, history, law and drama. At the moment she is really enjoying them all and isn’t finding the work too much, but will drop drama if 4 subjects has a negative impact on grades. However, drama is the most fun, fun people in the class etc etc. But isn’t as interesting as the other subjects.

Is there much point in continuing past Christmas, will the school advise do you think?

It really ought to be basic clinical protocol everywhere to test for UTI and other infections in elderly people with sudden and acute onset confusion. So glad they got there in the end though! Flowers

It was an infection.

I have my dad back. I never thought miracles like this would ever happen. They can do an MRI now, they have been able to take fluids, he’s fully hydrated - and I have cried with happiness.

So so sorry to derail - as we were!!!!!!!

I’m not sure - I know they’ve checked for hydrocephalus. They can’t do an MRI as he can’t stay still enough. I’ll check with my sister.

Sorry to derail, not my purpose but need to say it and don’t want to make a thread for it - dad’s bad. Physically good, but we don’t know if it’s the stroke or dementia that’s gone from floor 1 to floor 50 in 24 hours. I’ve come off autopilot and shock has hit. Given dd a sanitised version, she doesn’t need to know the full facts. She told her form tutor who said she’d email her tutors but then she left at lunch ill, so I’vs emailed the school office.
He keeps getting very agitated, wanting to go home and fighting to get out of bed.
I’m exhausted.Sad

We are still waiting for our remark, I emailed the examinations officer who said as soon as she hears she will let us know, this was two weeks ago? Should I ask again ? It’s Cie board .

Foslady in my experience 6th form is one of those times when friendship groups change. Your DD will either live with the dossers (and ignore them) or develop a group whose study ethic is more like hers.

Dd is getting stress over a couple in her friendship group who have loads of free periods and keep telling her she’s working too hard........meantime they are messing about in their frees and are still behind on coursework/homework each time telling the tutor they have been too busy.......dd isn’t having any of it though and told them to butt out - she knows that it’s a different way of working now and unfortunately they hasn’t got that yet.......
