I've got a cold as well. I'm not sure how seeing as I go nowhere and see no-one.

Knotaknitter · 10/10/2020 17:34

I wouldn't mind going without underwear providing I didn't have to leave the house although now it's turned a bit cooler I would probably miss that extra layer. Can you not pretend you did it skydiving or while very drunk?

UrsulaPandress · 09/10/2020 13:49

Well hurah, I have now broken my wrist. And got a stinking cold to boot.

When I broke my right wrist, badly, 30 years ago, I was in work the next day, went horse riding and flew to South Africa for a holiday. This time it's my left wrist (I'm right handed) and I'm having to go without underwear Confused Hmm Grin .

Honestly age has a lot to answer for.

And yes a Spaniel was involved ...

My dad doesnt have any health conditions tho (except extreme dogged stubborn age now.86 and walking five miles a day)sorry ursula just re read your post, I know your dh had a heart op recently.

I wish I could.give ds1 another year of uni, he is adamant about staying in cohort though. Missed out so much last year, even if he went through motions. If only the wretched choirs would restart, unfortunately.they were all.small amateur outfits no big churches to soc.distance in. All theatricals seem suspended unless you are the.main solo ist.
Howe wr he likes his new flat, 7 girls and him. None of them knew each other so quite a calm atmosphere, more like lodgers together. He had a massive row.with one though over amazon cardboatd.boxes. I think he genuinely.hasnt realised how messy he is. We tell him often but it doesnt.sink in. He said her comments hurt his feelings. Hmm.
I feel like he is still a.fresher without a cause Blush

Nettleskeins · 07/10/2020 23:30

Hello everyone! Ds2, at Lancaster doing hist.and politics just tested positive today, stmptoms sunday night, tested tues, resukt today.
So answer I think ursula is,
From date of symptoms, if positive result sunsequent patient has to.selfisolate 10 days. Household contacts have to self isolate 14'days from date of sufferers symptoms, not their test. Howe er if they test negative they still have the 14 days. If they test positive oror have, symptoms it shortens slightly, howev er, it mayis be of course they have already had it a while ago and no one knew that. Still have to self isolate.
Ds1 fine, very low in summer, but bit better back at uni with some social.contact.

Happy 21st to your dd ursula and so glad you have a cuddly dog again and happy that you looked after previous rescue to beautifully when he sounded so difficult. He is looking down now from dog heaven beach having made friends with your beloved first dog.

Knot. That is very frustrating. Very.

Im becoming less and less obedient. Gave my dad a big hug last.time I saw him and am not sorry for not obeying soc distancing.

UrsulaPandress · 04/10/2020 11:41

Thanks all. To add insult to injury it was pouring down yesterday so my plan to sit on her wall and watch her open her presents was thwarted. A friend and I drove over, put gifts and cake etc inside the open door and she and her friend retrieved them. Quick to trip to Asda for a vase as she had some flowers delivered and then we drove home.

I facetimed her and we drank champagne at 20:42, the time she was born.

She doesn't seem ill so that's a blessing. I really need to read up on the rules of isolation as I have to confess I'm confused. The friend she is staying with tested negative but will she need to retest? How long are you contagious for? Does DD have to retest before she comes out of isolation? When can I take her to the beach with the dog?

Off to Google.

Hope all your DCs are doing OK.

ShanghaiDiva · 02/10/2020 07:25

Oh no!
Hope she recovers quickly.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 01/10/2020 17:06

Nooooo Ursula. Flipping heck, thats unlucky.
At least when you do next see her, you'll know she's not going to silently infect you. I hope she recovers very quickly.

catndogslife · 01/10/2020 16:49

Sorry to hear that @UrsulaPandress but best wishes to your dd for a speedy recovery and hoping her illness isn't too serious.
Cake for your dd and Wine for you, after you have finished your driving!
Are we really starting 21st birthdays already - doesn't seem long to me since we were discussing 18th birthdays!

Knotaknitter · 01/10/2020 14:52

Ursula It's better that she knows now rather than finding out after the lunch and cocktails. Is she poorly or ok but positive?

UrsulaPandress · 01/10/2020 12:36

Well Hurrah. DD has tested positive for CV!!!!

Meal and hotel cancelled. I'm driving over and leaving cake and presents on the doorstep.

Couldn't make it up.....

ShanghaiDiva · 30/09/2020 22:01

Happy birthday to your dd Ursula.
Ds goes back on Friday. He is sharing a house with two friends so not too worried about him, although the number of cases in Coventry is considerably higher than where we live.

Knotaknitter · 30/09/2020 15:51

I hope you have a nice night away Ursula, my room was lovely but the things I'd been looking forward to in the hotel were closed. DS is in an area of local lockdown so we could have met in the bar or the restaurant except both were closed. I did look at the website before I booked and managed to see the menus but not the closures.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/09/2020 13:52

Anyway Grin I hope your dd has a really lovely birthday and that you have a nice night away.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 30/09/2020 13:42

Good for you Ursula. I reckon you'll be fine this weekend if there are no current regs in your dds area.

I'm classified as vulnerable, but nothing will stop me from seeing dd, unless it is actually against the law (in which case I will consider the circumstances) or if she has an active covid infection and she's coping well with it.

OP posts:
UrsulaPandress · 30/09/2020 13:13

DD has been back all summer as her job is in her University city. She has been popping back and forth but has now decided as more students return that she had better not as DH is 'vulnerable'. So vulnerable that he has decided not to visit her on her 21st on Saturday so I'm going over with cake and presents, taking her and two of her mates out for a late lunch, then some cocktails then they are off to an 'event' and I've booked myself into a hotel for the night.

I'm really looking forward to it.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 28/09/2020 18:24

dd heads back this week. She is utterly desperate to go back.

OP posts:
Knotaknitter · 28/09/2020 08:46

DS has had a full week's tuition, his flatmates have all moved in bar one. He was told 50% of his hours would be online and as he's not complaining about it I'm assuming that's what he's getting.

HardwickWhite · 27/09/2020 18:00

Have all the DC headed back? DD has been back for two weeks now, but more and more of the things she was told would be face to face are preparing to go online. I can't decide if I am fretting overly or not. She has much more space to study at her flat. Her room at home is tiny, but of her flat mate goes home, I'd really not want her on her own. Tbh, though we are not in local lock down yet, we are on the watch list, so she is probably better where she is. That isn't stopping me from worrying though!

Bronzegate · 11/09/2020 20:56

Ursula, sorry to hear the sad news about your dog.

Bronzegate · 11/09/2020 20:55

Sorry I haven't updated for a while. DS is planning to head back to Leicester in a couple of weeks. He will be living alone, so is hoping to form a support bubble with five friends who'll be sharing a house. Otherwise he won't have any face to face interaction apart from the occasional seminar (which might be moved online).

Ginfordinner · 08/09/2020 22:25

I'm sorry to hear about your dog woes Ursula. I have no advice re 21st birthday presents I'm afraid. Are 21 year old girls that into handbags? I'm not so sure. Or maybe DD and her friends aren't into designer stuff.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/09/2020 16:58

A nice handbag?

dd is impossible. She's not into anything like clothes or makeup (which is just as well as I'd have no clue where to start). Nowhere to keep a car of her own.

OP posts:
OhYouBadBadKitten · 08/09/2020 16:52

Yikes, he does not sound like he was sort of dog that was liveable with.

I don't know about 21st presents. We were looking at a nice weekend away somewhere for dd, but that's not happening.

UrsulaPandress · 08/09/2020 11:40

It was such a shame for pts Spaniel, but his behaviour had got worse and worse. He bit me as I mentioned earlier, but it got to the point where if I was sitting downstairs in the evening DD had to phone me to say she was coming down so that I could take him outside.

During the hot weather if I was sitting outside and he was with me, if anyone appeared round the corner of the house (DD or DH) he wouldn't let them approach. He then bit DH quite badly and the following morning would not let him down the stairs into the kitchen.

Then one day he was inside with DH as it was very hot. I came into the kitchen to get a drink and he wouldn't let me in. I had to use a kitchen chair like a lion tamer to get to the sink. He then went to get me round the other side of the table and I had to use the chair to get into the conservatory and exit the house that way.

I think he had something neurological going on. His eyes were a bit unseeing some times and he had little interaction with people (apart from trying to savage you). I like to think he had a happy 8 months with us.
