Midwifery training as a single parent

Hello

I'm about to begin an application to study midwifery from next September when my child will be 3 years old. Has anyone been in this situation and how did it work financially? I know every situation will vary but any input would be helpful please :)

@d24680 you should be able to apply for a tuition loan and maintenance loan through student finance for the 3 year degree course :)

I'm 31 this year and my plan is to apply to do a midwifery degree in two years time as well. Ive read other posts and it seems like a lot of midwifery students are mature students :)

I've already got a degree in computer science which I completed in 2012 but no medical or healthcare experience.

I will most likely complete an access course which I'll pay for myself as I can study part time but I'd like to know if there is any financial support available for the 3 years at university.

No personal experience of this but I think that my advice would be to see if you can do an Access course like this
www.cityplym.ac.uk/courses/nursing/
There are also some online ones advertised, like this
www.learndirect.com/course/access-to-higher-education-midwifery but it would cost!

Some relevant experience would probably help your application.

37 doesn't sound too old!
