Hopefully this thread will appear on TIO! Grin No need to use it til our old thread is done, but at least we have it for when we are ready.

Checking in from hot and sticky China.
Personal statement done and reviewed by school tutor, deadlines for the rest of this year for internal assessments and extended essay received (!) and already in third week of school.

LoniceraJaponica · 23/08/2017 06:52

DD's school made them start their personal statements in the summer term. She has already completed the first draft.

TheDrsDocMartens · 23/08/2017 01:12

Not a lot of work on a PS here either. I've one to do too and I've about 100 words Blush

TheSecondOfHerName · 23/08/2017 00:48

This evening I learned that the tent that was dropped off is not the one that DS1 will be using. Because he doesn't have to wait for GCSE results, he's in the 'advance party' who will be going on Wednesday evening to pitch everyone's tents.

The tent he will actually be using is a teepee. 😂

UrsulaPandress · 22/08/2017 23:27

I hope the weather stays fair for all our festival going offspring.

I'm sure the gazebo will be well used.

raspberryrippleicecream · 22/08/2017 23:21

Well done on the theory pass.

We are currently camping so no progress is being made on PS as such. DD and DH climbed Snowdon today.

At home DD's files are waiting for her, also all beautifully organised. Surrounded by the chaos that is the rest of her room!

Knitting, poor you! Hope he gets sorted.

DH and DS2 are off to a Festival at the weekend, it's a local one and DS2 is playing. DD is working and annoyed she can't go.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/08/2017 22:29

at times I am rather grateful for my non partying, non festival going daughter.

DS and his pals have bought a new 6 man tent for a bargain from Tesco and a gazebo - not just a basic put up just in case it rains one....oh no this has side panels and "windows". I'm not quite sure how they are planning to transport everything....they only have little cars...

HesMyLobster · 22/08/2017 20:06

2am Knitting?! Shock

HesMyLobster · 22/08/2017 20:05

Haha Dragon, I think my dd sounds similar to your dd! She spent most of yesterday shopping for new beautiful folders and filing systems, and most of today organising all of her notes form last year and preparing all the beautiful folders for this year's notes, it's all organised and beautiful, but there's no sign of any work on PS yet here either (Which she said was this week's job!)

Well done on the Theory success!

DD should have been going to Leeds this weekend but her group couldn't seem to organise themselves and in the end decided against it. Probably a good thing as they're back at school on Tuesday.

Hope all those dc who are off to festivals this week have a brilliant (and safe!) time!

I am currently hiding with wine and pizza in my office, while the rest of the house swarms with approx 30 17 year olds! The "little gathering" definitely looks like a party to me! Wink

Icouldbeknitting · 22/08/2017 20:03

Let us imagine that you have to be up at 2am so your mother can drive you to the back of beyond to get on a coach. It is now 8pm.

Are you now:
a) relaxing having packed earlier today
b) packing
c) gaming and chatting to your mates online whilst ignoring the suitcase your mother pushed into your room for some mysterious reason.

Congratulations, you chose C! You are my 17 year old son.

(I wish the 2am start were imaginary but it's going to be all too real)

TheSecondOfHerName · 22/08/2017 19:46

Just making sure I don't lose you all.

DS1 has managed to borrow a tent, which [name of girl I've never heard of] is dropping here this evening because DH kindly offered to drive everyone to Reading tomorrow.

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/08/2017 18:49

Reading fest final plans here

MsAwesomeDragon · 22/08/2017 18:25

You finished that last thread beautifully kitten, thank you.

Dd has spent the day sorting out her files. She's now got lovely, well filed notes for each subject, which is a nice start. Still no start on the personal statement Hmm

starfleet · 22/08/2017 18:22

Well done to your DD on passing her theory OYBBK.

DS has had football pre season training at school today, managed to work on his Geography study and has now gone off with friends to work out details about who/what/where/how re Leeds fest.....

OhYouBadBadKitten · 22/08/2017 17:32

Derek, your poor ds with his migraines :( his expedition sounds amazing! did his travel plans work out?

dd just has to finalise her report and a poster presentation to create (and present!) then she's done with her nuffield placement. It's been such a good experience.

Driving theory test passed today.

LoniceraJaponica · 19/08/2017 18:55

I hope you are enjoying your break Kitten. What is the weather like?

It has been absolutely vile here (South Yorkshire)

MsAwesomeDragon · 19/08/2017 17:45

Signing in. Are you somewhere nice kitten?

OhYouBadBadKitten · 19/08/2017 17:42

Grin someone else would have created the thread! I have access to internet this evening. Wasn't sure I was going to.
