How hard is Access to Nursing course?

I am enrolled on the one year course, starting in September. My loan is in place and I have a start date but I am beginning to slightly freak out a bit! Am starting to think I won't be able to do it.

My mum has Alzheimers and although she lives independently she needs a lot of support and its down to me mostly. I have a 5yo and a 3yo.

I think I am feeling daunted after being a sahm for nearly 6 years having a few relationship problems too. Probably a midlife crisis to boot. Urgh.

I did it last year a lot of work.

I did it with a 2 yr old was def something you had keep on top of.
However my college was v supportive and did ease us in gently good luck x

I've just finished access to health professions. It is hard but manageable. I have 3 boys 12, 7 and 3 all with ADHD. I'm off to uni in sept now x

I know a couple of girls who have done this course. They both found it ok, quite a bit of course work, but nothing too daunting, certainly not as hard as A levels. They both worked part time as carers whilst doing the course too. Both work as nurses now. Stay organised and keep on top of the work and I'm sure you will be fine.

I am (was!) hoping to go on to do a degree in speech and language therapy. I have quite a lot of experience working with people with communication difficulties.

I think I am starting to doubt myself! Am waiting for my gcse maths result (21st!) Even tho' maths was always my worst subject I am far more daunted by this!

I have no advice to give. But am about to start the same course in September, feeling really nervous about it!

Is this an access to HE course, with subjects for nursing pathway or a specific nursing course?

I just finished an access to HE course and it was hard. Not unbearable though, and the tutors all understood that the students had a lot of other stuff going on, so were flexible. We had four subjects, each of which required an assignment to be handed in every 6 weeks. I'm incredibly lazy with regards to homework and managed just fine, so don't stress. Lots of other students will have children and busy lives, so you'll probably support each other. It's completely worth it, and once you get into the swing of things you'll be ok. Try and set out a plan of what times you'll do coursework, and stick to it, as time management it the hardest struggle.
