Thought it might be nice to have a place to swap ideas and experiences. Shall we do introductions first?

My name's MadBad and I've been a Brownie guider for about 5 years.

We suddenly seem to have a lot of new girls, and there's some definite characters emerging. And we've got a few who definitely need to e moving on to guides and Gould have gone months ago but are still with us waiting for friends to be old enough to move.

This weeks meeting largely involves chocolate. I feel it's necessary Grin

The girls can sometimes be ::cough:: a little trying, but I have said for a long time that, if I resign, it won't be the girls that drive me to it, but the parents.

EduCated · 16/03/2014 21:23

Argh, unhelpful parents are the worst. Actually no, the downright obstructive ones are the very worst Angry

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/03/2014 19:24

Thank you. I have a great team now, too, which does help but they don't do very much of the admin/behind the scenes stuff.

Groovee · 16/03/2014 18:57

If you ever want to sound off, feel free to PM me Maud. I know what it can be like. I have a great team who really get where I come from and we can laugh about somethings now!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/03/2014 18:38

Do call me Maud.

Ah. I'm just feeling worn down by the endless bloomin' admin, dealing with unhelpful and uncooperative parents, sane old same old. Sigh.

Ignore me.

Groovee · 16/03/2014 18:24

What's wrong Come? Share and we can see how to help you!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 16/03/2014 14:57

That's good to hear, Groovee. I am feeling very bleurgh about Brownies at the moment - say something inspirational to keep me motivated!

Groovee · 15/03/2014 19:43

Went to our Counties star quest last night. Still buzzing!!!

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 28/02/2014 17:07

I haven't got a camp/holiday licence, but Wings looks great! Have you seen the YouTube vid of the last one?

Goldencity1 · 28/02/2014 15:49

Camping is the best thing about guides! We are off to wings this summer and doing a weekend camp first as a practise for the newbies.
Any one else camping this year?

MiniSoksMakeHardWork · 26/02/2014 20:14

Hee hee. I'm so excited about it and it's not even until August! I love, love, love camping. I've finally convinced dh that we could take our own 4 camping. It's only taken him 6 years nearly to agree (our oldest is 6). So how hard can a bunch of 5-7 year olds be?? Grin

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 25/02/2014 08:39

You're right, Groovee. Two years is probably an appropriate time to recuperate!

Groovee · 25/02/2014 08:37

I'm still recovering from pack holiday in 2012 Wink

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 24/02/2014 22:16

It took me a long time to recover from camping with Brownies!

EduCated · 24/02/2014 21:40

Rainbows? Camping? I need to lie down in a darkened room just thinking about that!

MiniSoksMakeHardWork · 24/02/2014 20:17

I know. It's a fab, ironic badge. I think I'm going to get one each for my team :)

Taking rainbows camping in August GrinGrinGrin

Goldencity1 · 23/02/2014 11:46

An hour a week??? Hahaha.

Goldencity1 · 23/02/2014 11:44

Ohhhh, I camped at Whitley woods when I was a guide! My first pack holiday when I was 7 was in a big wooden shed thing in the orchard, it had no fridge in the kitchen (we used a hanging larder) and the only toilets were in the bi barn so at Night Brown owl put a bucket in the middle of the room.....it sprung a leak so there was a flood!

Camped there quite a few times as a guide and so remember Brownie revels. This would have been during the late 60's early 70's.

ComeIntoTheGardenMaud · 22/02/2014 23:26

An hour a week? Well, if you cut short your meeting, never do any admin or shopping for supplies I suppose it could be. ::wink::

EduCated · 22/02/2014 23:18
Grin
MiniSoksMakeHardWork · 22/02/2014 22:17

Happy Thinking Day all. Had a lovely afternoon with district rainbows, brownies and guides. Still loving it! Found a fab badge for my camp blanket which says 'it's only an hour a week'

Poppiesway · 22/02/2014 22:15

Yes!! Thankyou EduCated!
I was a brownie and guide and now a beaver leader as have two ds's who have both gone through the same unit I'm involved with.

EduCated · 22/02/2014 21:29

Poppies Not Whiteley Woods was it?

Poppiesway · 22/02/2014 21:14

Quick question..
Many years ago I went on a guides camp for a week in Sheffield to a camp site specially run for guides.. Does anyone know the name of this place and if it's still there ?
I had a great time whilst there. A long way from home but wasn't home sick at all :)
