Maud - I've put the invoice no on the cheque ...XXXX/2015 - so the first number is unit number?
It is the piece of paper that goes in with it - the 'covering letter -has the unit name, invoice no, amount etc on top then says membership no, Your name (please print) then date ..so I've put the membership number of the person whose name is on the form (Brown Owl) -I hope that's right cos it has been posted now

I don't want to throw a spanner in the works because I haven't done mine yet and am relying on my (fallible) memory of previous years, but I thought the number on the subs cheque was the unit's number. I have just had a look at my invoice, and the unit number is the invoice number, ie it's [unit number]/2015.

Oh mugs is a good idea could do them this week and the put stuff in the following week, nice tea bag etc umm that's good idea.

I've done Hama bead coasters before, too (got the beads and boards from Ikea, much cheaper). If you do it, have lots of adult help or have pre-sorted the beads by colour! I'd avoid it if you have lots of reception/5 year olds, if it's mostly year 1/year 2 you should be OK though.

We are decorating mugs - 50p each from Sainsburys, and using porcelain pens from the cupboard. Doing them a week early, so I can take them home to bake, but will make cards and wrap mugs (maybe with a fruit teabag or some chocs in...) the following week.

Umm just wondering what other rainbow units and doing for Mothering Sunday craft wise, we have done canvases, chocolates and decorated totes in the past but stuck this year for inspiration x

Yes it's your number, we have an evening where our division treasurer gets everyone to deliver them to her was last night, she then checks it all and sends everyone's together, it works quite well and gets it done !

So it is your personal membership no you use? Great can get it posted tomorrow and off my list...

When you sign into go you use your membership number so move back to the log in page and copy it from there. It's a personal number for each member of girl guiding uk

Thanks....still don't know what to do ....was looking around GO earlier but couldn't find anything ...I have copies of the old forms -so can see a number but that could be the packs no - or the old Brown Owl's...
(Does anyone else find GO a bit of a battle? Don't think it is user friendly at all...)

Your unit will have a number, you can find it on GO somewhere, but I can't remember whether it's that or your own number that needs putting on the form - printed mine out yesterday and have ignored it ever since :o

Oh not sure Unlucky as my assistant leader deals with it

Trying to send the subs cheque for our brownie pack off to GGUK ...I'm an occasional helper and its a new Brown Owl...
On the sheet we have to send with the cheque is 'membership No' the membership no of the person who puts their name on the form or do we have some kind of pack membership no?

Groovee. I hope you're not beating yourself up now about it. Once in 4 years is amazing. Especially at such short notice.

Our district celebrates thinking day today. I love our giant get togethers, even if I did completely fluff the rainbow promise have made a note next time I need a 'thinking day' folder. All the random pieces you need to recall like promises, the correct words to 'this little guiding light' (I swear we were singing 3 versions), explaining taps and such to rainbows.

Groovee It's a tough one because you're still replaying the what-ifs or if-onlys.

Once in four years is an amazing feat - you can only do as much as you can within your allocated hour a week.

With less than an hour's notice it would have been difficult. As I said the girls get dropped off by their child carers as parents commute and often aren't in the same town as us.

In all the years I've been doing brownies, I have never had to cancel ever. I spoke to a few local guiders who said they would have done the same and my DC has said the same. Because it's not a regular occurrence (it better not be) then a one off in 4 years at this unit isn't too bad.

I'm sure parents/carers would make the effort if the alternative was cancelling the meeting. We find the best approach s to let parents know when their daughters join that they may occasionally be called in to help. A lot of them don't realise we are volunteers, and are usually happy to pitch in when they realise we don't get paid.
Sometimes the best approach is to phone a friendly parent directly and ask them to help, or their DP or a grown up daughter - anyone really.
Brownies love it when their parents help out.

I could have asked other guiders but I was so deflated that it took me the 10 minutes I had to make a decision to find all the girls details, send the emails and text everyone. My usual back up was having surgery, so not available.

A lot of brownies get dropped off by carers and collected by parents so a parents help is not feasible.

Lucysmam, I'm sure you will hear soon. I know it's hard to wait.

Half term, a week off Guiding! Oh no, hang on, I've got Brownie holiday, a Rainbows trip, and Division Thinking Day event to fit in - leaving in an hour, must get my camping chair out of the garage...

Still, only an hour a week, right?!

I haven't heard anything since the initial email back asking when it's convenient to discuss paperwork etc . I'd hoped to be able to join in when the girls went back after half term too.

Groovee we always rope in a parent or two if we're short on leaders. They are usually more than happy to help, even at short notice. We post on FB and text them all. Had to do it tonight actually as only 2 of our 4 Leaders could make it.

Well I had to cancel our meeting this week. One leader has to work away every 4 weeks and the other leader was too tired to come and help. I've never had to cancel at short notice before. My work head was on that I need 2 adults. Dh says next time he'll sit in the corner to stop my tears. I just couldn't face tracking down another leader at short notice then trying to lead the whole night as we couldn't have done the pancakes and my fibromyalgia has been so bad that trying to sort out another activity for the evening.
