So with the big reveal of the 50th anniversary programme it feels like a good time to start the 2026 chat!

I know of offers today and more so last year for first timers including lead parts.

SharonBotts · 27/02/2026 14:57

Well done on all the dc who have received offers.

I'd be interested to know if there is anyone on here with a show offer who is an NYMT first timer? Just curious whether that makes a difference or not. Or maybe the group on this thread is not representative?

Mcmumager · 27/02/2026 14:38

I’ve got a delighted ds cast in a named jet role.

So sorry for all those disappointed today. Like others have said we’ve been in this spot before too with no recalls /offers so I know that sick feeling especially when you are the one giving your child the bad news. This life is filled with very high highs and very low lows and nothing will likely make them feel better today so just sending you the best,

Kittykat57 · 27/02/2026 14:33

My DS did the workshop . If you want to DM me to have a chat. As an aside we watched the film before the workshop.

nogoingbacktothefuture · 27/02/2026 13:58

Aw congratulations to your DS on Everyday. My YP recalled for it an absolutely loved the music. Is your DS a TT? I am wondering whether to look into dance lessons for next year as my YP really struggled.
Good luck to your DD

He is (or at least... aspires to be!) a TT, yes.

We don't know Every Day at all, and are clueless as to what it's like. All that he and his friends who have also got it seem to have been told is that they are "cast member". Is there anyone on here who did the workshop last year and knows it well?

Truetoself · 27/02/2026 14:21

@somuchbetterthanbeforeyou are so right of course. Even performing arts workshops outside of NYMT are expensive. There are of course a lot of low costs things also but I know DD really came along after doing some intensive summer courses in London

nogoingbacktothefuture · 27/02/2026 14:16

Hi congratulations to everyone on their offers/results. I was just wondering if the Rolecall emails for NMWs have gone out. We haven't received one but I've seen an insta story where somebody has accepted their WSS role on Rolecall already so wondering if we have just been missed...TY

Authenticallyme1010 · 27/02/2026 14:16

Just so offer here - DS over the moon!

somuchbetterthanbefore · 27/02/2026 14:14

Congratulations to all those with offers! Lovely news.

Originally we weren’t going to audition due to costs involved, until we were advised about a possible bursary.

DD was super excited - and surprised - to be recalled for 2 shows. Sadly she has been offered the skills workshop, and costs are prohibitive for us with no bursary support available, so it’s the end of her brief NYMT journey and I will have to disappoint her later.

I know it’s an unequal world, and it’s a particularly unequal industry, where the ability to access music and drama classes and groups to even attain to the level where they can attempt an audition already rules out so many talented young people… still I’m sad for her.

There’s an opportunity here to build a fairer talent pipeline, since the current widening participation support only exists for children and young people who already match both the casting criteria and talent thresholds for the year. I guess arts funding is extremely limited so what little money there is, skips the developmental stage, and is targeted to support the shows for those performers who are already at that level, and to enable the widest possible casting choice.

She had an awesome, welcoming, fun and rewarding experience at both the audition workshop and casting workshop. So we are very thankful for that, despite being sadly on the outside of any further opportunities.

Hi @Wigeon can’t work out how to reply to your message sorry - they have done both show and NMW before and are at an age where they’re self-funding this; this NMW isn’t ideal timing for them and also doesn’t seem a great fit in terms of music type and parts (nearly all for the opposite gender if the music online is anything to go by!) so I think they will decline, with regret as they’ve had a great time before but life moves on! So I do feel there will be movement on the various lists.

My son got to that position a couple of years ago. He was age 20, at conservatoire and self-funding. He'd done a large show, a concert style show and been a creative with NYMT and so he decided to audition for one final year with one particular project in mind. That project would give him a different experience from what he had before. Luckily for him he did get the show he wanted but he would probably have turned down any other offer.

He is now at the stage where he needs to earn money, not spend it and last year he ended up working for BYMT on one of their shows. He graduates this year, he has an offer of work over Christmas (panto) but we will see what else life brings.

Comefromaway · 27/02/2026 14:07

And congratulations to everyone with offers.

Kittykat57 · 27/02/2026 14:07

Congratulations to everyone no matter what their offer has been. My DS has been offered Every Day and is going to be delighted. He loved the recall and the music, he literally hasn't stopped singing it!!! For everyone asking about NWM's, my DS was ensemble in a show 2 years ago and did Every Day as a NWM last year. It was such a positive experience for him. He learnt such a lot being involved with the NWM process. I know he would definitely recommend it.

DS offered Every Day. Now waiting to hear on the production pathway outcome for DD!!

We have Everyday over here too

Comefromaway · 27/02/2026 14:03

allhailthebrain · 27/02/2026 11:30

Mine got NMW - and not one they can logistically accept. End of a very long run for us. Grateful for that but really gutted today.

So sorry to hear of their disapointment

Mumster40 · 27/02/2026 12:36

Ragged Child offers are out. My DC is over the moon to be offered a role. Over the years they have had show offers/ workshop offers and skills workshop offers. I know how it feels when things don’t pan out the way you hope. But all these young people are incredibly brave and resilient. An outcome one year may be different the next. X

Mumster40 snap! DD got a named role and is chuffed!!!!

My DS has been offered Just So. Phew. Lots of good wishes to all whatever the outcome.

Operasingerkath · 27/02/2026 13:37

Truetoself · 27/02/2026 13:24

DD got offered a minor role in WSS. I would be interested to know if there is an allocation for ensemble for WSS or if her character will be a part of ensemble.

I’ve messaged you

Operasingerkath · 27/02/2026 13:34

Huge congratulations to everyone on their offers and hugs to everyone suffering disappointment. My DS has got WSS which he is so excited about!

Oreapink · 27/02/2026 12:39

My DD did first year Skills WS, second year NMW and she was invited to do it again in October and at last…has been offered a named role in Ragged Child. She’s delighted that turning up and putting in the work has paid off at last. She’s got a lot from the workshops and NWS and got cast in main roles in both of them. She loved doing them so we’d definitely recommend them.

This is amazing! Hard works and dedication has clearly paid off. Congratulations to her!!

HanD31 · 27/02/2026 13:01

Hugs to you all who will be supporting disappointed kids. My DD has friends who had parts last year in shows who have NMW offers. It’s an industry with so many variables. My DD after all that (worry about not getting to do sides in front of director) has been cast in a part in Just So she is over the moon and very grateful.

Theatrelovingfamily21 · 27/02/2026 13:01

Well done everyone on your outcomes. My DD has been offered NMW. That was her goals this year after recalling for 2 shows last year and doing the skills workshop.

She has also been offered a place on a BYMT show. That finishes on the 9th and has to be collected at 9am but the NYMT starts in Canterbury at 1pm. Do you think there is any possibility she could go if not there until 2? I’m going to email but wasn’t sure if anyone had previous experience.

redgee · 27/02/2026 12:49

Wigeon · 27/02/2026 09:49

Working link to the skills workshop now sent - it would be interesting to know whether they do offer different courses to different young people depending on their current skills, or whether everyone gets the same offer? I don't think it's necessarily worse if it's all the same, since different DC can still get lots out of a course even with people who are more or less skilled at the different aspects of musical theatre than them.

Here's what DD has been offered.

Edited

We were no recall, I think we had same/similar dates plus one for w/c 10th (Canterbury, residential) which is the one we booked. Not sure we had the option of w/c 3rd though - we couldn't do Easter, nor w/c 24th. And I think I would have considered w/c 3rd - there were also some non-res which I had ruled out due to logistics and cost.

So I guess not all skills workshops are offered to everyone?
