Did you see the NYMT insta about additional male ensemble required for WSS? I wonder if they are putting another call out because there were not enough people auditioning or because they didn’t have enough suitable people?
Also said if you cannot make every rehearsal date, it doesn’t matter ……..

doesanybodyhaveamap · 11/03/2026 10:22

@Comefromawayyes we saw (DC was in the post 🤣). I’m hoping this means they’ve mapped everyone that’s already applied to shows. 🤞🏻

They were advertising for more musicians yesterday in certain specific instruments.

Really hope it’s today…

How are my fellow NYMT musician

We're still awaiting second casting by end of March for BYMT and I'm keeping August open just in case. I know when we booked our audition they asked about availability during X-Y dates and I know I provided her availability, but I can't see the relevant dates any more.

I'm looking to book tix to a west end show in August but obviously don't want to do anything that could conflict (sods law). Does anyone know the dates in August for BYMT please? thank you!!

  • The Clockmaker’s City by Jonathan Ainscough (Writer & Co-Lyricist) and Yshani Perinpanayagam (Composer & Co-Lyricist); Manchester, 31 July – 2 August
  • Technical Difficulties by Joe Venable (Writer & Co-Lyricist) and Samuel Macdonald (Composer & Co-Lyricist); Hull, 7-8 August
  • Paper Stars by Grace Chapple (Co-Writer), Luke Byrne (Composer & Lyricist) and Miranda Middleton (Co-Writer); Exeter, 14-16 August
  • BYMT’s NMTA winner: Sea Change by Elinor Peregrin (Composer & Co-Lyricist) and Will Jackson (Writer & Co-Lyricist); Birmingham, 28-30 August
  • Frankenstein by Victoria Gimby (Writer), Jimmy Jewell (Composer) and Nick Stimson (Lyricist); London, 28-30 August

It is on BYMT website under news.

DD did the online recall and she just logged in from her computer and stood up to perform her monologue. It's live so they can direct you if they can't see you well enough.

She really enjoyed the recall and was successful in getting a place (she was 14 when she auditioned). Her auditioner? was really friendly and happy to answer any questions that she had.

RubyRosa · 06/03/2026 11:25

Hello, slightly different topic here, but I noticed a few people mentioning NYT. I just wondered if anyone has had DC who have done the online recall and could offer any advice/tips.

Particularly, wondering about framing - is the recall standard self tape head and upper body or a wide shot?

Would love to hear about people's experience of it. DC is very young, first time auditioning for NYT and it's her absolute dream to train / perform with them.

Aha! Turns out husband received the invoice yesterday, but didn't mention it or do anything with it as most of the rest of the emails had come to both of us. So I've now paid it.

Authenticallyme1010 · 05/03/2026 13:20

Our first invoice came through a couple of days ago (for the deposit for a production). I assume they are send them out in batches, but may be worth chasing if you’ve not received anything yet?

Thanks, I've sent them an email.

The final day to accept offers was only yesterday, so it may be that they're all still coming through.

When should we expect to receive the invoice? And how do we get a password for the online shop?

Thanks!

@jennymac31 my DD turned down BYMT and didn’t ask for any further consideration. However she was offered another show on alternative datws. Again we didn’t ask for anything else but she was offered another third show. Unfortunately we couldn’t do any of them

My DD (14) auditioned for the first time this year. She signed up literally the day before one of the very last auditions, and we were very lucky she had just been in the Addams Family as Wednesday literally that week, so already had Pulled performance ready for her audition! She really enjoyed the audition day.

We were away in half term, so had no expectations of anything, but she was offered the chance to submit a self tape for NMW (which we filmed whilst up a mountain!).

She received her offer of a NMW 3 weeks to the day after signing up to audition! So it's been a whirlwind. She's excited to do it, though feels a little disappointed not to have got a full show. I actually think NMW might be a better introduction her first year anyway.

My DS was incredibly lucky his first year and got a full show, but then got a NMW his second year. He is now in his 4th year. He said that arguably the NMW was his best year because he was able to really show what he could do. They did lots of changing things round and reading and singing in much greater depth than they get to do in the auditions, so they can show off their strengths more. And they still get to work with the most amazing creative teams, which is so exciting. Plus, of course, thinking ahead with fingers crossed, there is a lot of professional work in new musicals, so it gives a great taster into that side of the industry too.

jennymac31 · 03/03/2026 14:56

@ThisKookyFinch - same here. The waiting is unbearable and my DH is getting itchy fingers for booking a holiday for the Easter break. Am wondering if it would be held against us (or DD) if we asked to only be considered for the summer projects. This is the first time DD has applied so we're very new to this.

ThisKookyFinch · 03/03/2026 14:01

Just had an update email from BYMT advising no offer yet but my DD will be considered for next stage offers at end of March, the waiting continues...

NCMO2G · 03/03/2026 11:01

Thankyou to everyone who replied to my previous message asking for advice for my dd. - she has now accepted her offer of cast member in Everyday!

Hey @CakeAndABath Last year (our first year) we part crowd funded (mostly relatives, friends, work colleagues tbh!) and also applied for a donation towards funding from a local charity that supports applications towards Performing Arts opportunities (associated with our local theatre). We raised about £900 towards the fees. It was worth it, but year two, we’ve made a small amount of savings and luckily our son now has a part-time student job, so can help contribute. Have you thought of contacting local newspaper to create a small article to raise awareness and link to Go fund page? It’s a big deal, especially if you quote the NYMT Alumni! I hope this helps!
