Our Band link was in my daughter’s NMW info pack.

Truetoself · 30/03/2026 15:04

NYMT hasn’t invited us to join Band have they?

seventwelve25 · 29/03/2026 18:04

I don't think it's location. My dd did a NMW last year with one of the performers and has stayed in touch and he lives down south. I think performers have just caught the creatives eyes for one reason or another, which must be really magical for them to get the call. It's exciting that different things do pop up throughout the year, nice to look out for!

Usually NYMT invite individual company members to take part in these kind of special events, they’re not auditioned opportunities. These things often come up at short notice so no time to put a call out and audition. They tend to pull them from across all the different shows and projects.

I don’t know if it’s coincidence but my Dh covered a choir rehearsal for the dad of one of the young performers so he could take part. We are only 30 mins away from Manchester so I wonder if young performers who were close were chosen (might be totally wrong of course). I think it was filmed in January.

Cottingley Fairies has started with BYMT, dropped our DC off there yesterday, very exciting! Seems quite intense, am worried they will be exhausted as they are on the younger side and they rehearse up to 9pm each night (which is past their normal bed time!) - they seem to be loving it thus far but I hope they can keep up with the full days and late nights! They are used to intense rehearsals and shows but not 2 week intensive whilst away from home 😬can anyone who has done BYMT allay my fears that it will be great and the kids adapt and love it?!

My DC friends are there. Two of them. Both from Northern Ireland. Sounds like they are having a ball so far.

Yes well done all for big night at the musicals. I didn’t realise they did other things during the year. When do they audition for these projects? Are auditions just for current members as I’ve seen other events on their Instagram page too having just had a quick look?

Edited

Does anyone have a young person doing Paper Stars in Exeter this summer with BYMT? My DD 17 is going.

Incredible performance from NYMT in Big Night of musicals tonight! ❤️

@ThisKookyFinch - we got the same email. We booked our Easter holiday so we'll enjoy that and see what updates we get later on.

@ThisKookyFinch - same here. The waiting is unbearable and my DH is getting itchy fingers for booking a holiday for the Easter break. Am wondering if it would be held against us (or DD) if we asked to only be considered for the summer projects. This is the first time DD has applied so we're very new to this.

Did you hear anything yesterday? We had an email to advise offers after 15th April. We have local auditions coming up so are concentrating on those now.

Hello, can anyone help with how to buy nymt tickets? I've been on the Birmingham Hippodrome website and also NYMT site, but no luck. Both DCs desperate to see Just So! Am I just too early?!

Yes definitely too early! NYMT will send out details on tickets closer to the time

yodaforpresident · 23/03/2026 13:08

@Advent0range we had that with BYMT last year too - I wonder if it is because their bands tend to be smaller, so they take longer to work out what they want to add in terms of instrumentation?

Comefromaway · 23/03/2026 12:56

I think it is too early yet.

HI I've DMd you as my DD is going. Thanks

Have DM's again :-)

Advent0range · 18/03/2026 17:30

Congratulations @doesanybodyhaveamap!
We've had a musician rejection today too, but same last year then a last minute offer came through (I guess someone must have pulled out). Don't give up hope @GinniMcGinface .

Theatredad · 18/03/2026 14:30

My child is due to attend Easter skills workshop at Canterbury. I have mailed NYMT to check if they have a sense as to when they might make a decision on this. I'm personally a bit weary sending her without having had the MenB vacine, but it understandably isnt available in my area at the moment. I guess all stocks are being directed to Kent at the moment. I believe the vacine needs a week or two to start developing immunity so this might be something that NYMT may want to bear in mind when considering timing around making a decision on this. Must be so worrying for those in the Kent area.

I have an adjacent question to the one asked by @nogoingbacktothefuture

My DD is 13 is and doing the Unbound NMW at Easter. I just wondered whether anyone on here has a similar aged child doing this project. She is happy being with people who are older/younger, but I was just interested to know.

Dd is also 13 and doing Unbound! Feel free to message if you wanted to chat or put them in touch! Xx
