So with the big reveal of the 50th anniversary programme it feels like a good time to start the 2026 chat!

Here we go again 🥳🥳🥳

HI, I am trying to work out the schedule to book the audition. Anyone already booked the London ones and let me know when the time will be?

I cannot attend the audition locally and now figuring out which alternative is the best to book for.

The auditions are usually something like 10.30/10.45 registration for an 11am start. The day usually finishes around 5pm - 5.30pm. I don't see why that would change drastically.

Has anyone had the under 18 song list yet? Not sure if my dc is applying- the list might make up their mind!

Comefromaway · 26/11/2025 22:51

Apparently the theatre offered everyone a free flu jab today. Bit late for Ds!

yodaforpresident · 26/11/2025 11:50

She plays clarinet and cello @Comefromaway. What terrible timing for your DS, hopefully it passes quickly.

Comefromaway · 26/11/2025 09:51

Shame about the Christmas concert. Ds never managed to make one due to other commitments but I gather they were lovely.

What does your dd play Yoda?

First day of panto rehearsals for him and he is ill. He's feeling dreadful with flu but has gone anyway.

Has anyone seen NYMT's alumni panto post. Ds is featured.

yodaforpresident · 25/11/2025 16:30

How did I miss that there was a new thread - where has the year gone?

Sadly, it does look like there is no NYMT Christmas concert this year as it is such a fantastic event.

I have just booked DD's musican audition for next year at NYMT - for anyone else considering it, she did the workshop last year and it was a lot of fun and very welcoming.

No stage performer auditions for her this year as she can't commit to Easter this time around unfortunately.

Lionelblair · 15/11/2025 07:14

thank you @Biscuitsneeded that’s a shame. 😞

Biscuitsneeded · 14/11/2025 16:46

I don't think it is😢.

Lionelblair · 14/11/2025 15:43

Hello all, have I missed something or is the Christmas concert not happening this year?

Biscuitsneeded · 13/11/2025 19:10

@somuchbetterthanbefore You withdrew your post before I had a chance to reply, and maybe you don't want to post about your DC on a public forum, but if you want to ping me a private message I'll happily share my thoughts (based on my DS auditioning every year of the last decade!) about the question you posed.

Oh my goodness

doesanybodyhaveamap · 03/11/2025 18:27

Certainly a bold choice….

I would have loved to have been in that room 😆😆

I remember my ds telling me some young guy had chosen something from hedwig and the angry inch way back in 2019. Apparently the panel found it an interesting choice 🤣

My DS remembers a boy who was about 13 or 14 doing Sweet Transvestite from Rocky Horror. He'd brought a costume and had a whole routine that involved sitting on people's laps!! God knows what the creatives made of it.

Mcmumager · 03/11/2025 15:49

Comefromaway · 02/11/2025 12:23

I’m guessing that might be because a lot of YP were choosing wildly inappropriate songs, that maybe don’t show what they are capable of, especially those with less experience/guidance available to them.

my dh sees that a lot even at drama school auditions.

seventwelve25 · 03/11/2025 12:21

Panic over! We haven't been missed off a list or anything. I received an email this morning to say it was taking a little longer than anticipated to finalise the choices, but we should hear in about a week or so. Phew! 😅

doesanybodyhaveamap · 02/11/2025 12:43

Ahhh ok, interesting!

Unless something has changed, for the first round they choose their own song.

I think it has changed! This year our email said that under 18s would be provided with a list to choose from and over 18s could choose for themselves! My daughter already had her heart set on a Beetlejuice song, but there's nothing wrong with a bit of flexibility! I guess it could help place them for particular recalls xx

Hi all, for those of you with under 18s who have already signed up for performer auditions, have you heard yet which songs they can choose from? I'm sure the email said 27th Oct, which was when the season was revealed, but we haven't been sent a list of songs and dd is very keen to get practicing! Xx

Comefromaway · 29/10/2025 14:42

Hearing that phrase a lot!

He is only depping on the tour, not a permanent member, but it is still a massive thing for him and hopefully the first step on the ladder.

He has 6 weeks of panto first then is doing 3 shows for the tour in the new year. He will then be on standby if the main player is ill/unavailable for any reason.

He has previously worked on some well known regional shows but programming/sound type work not playing.

But thank-you for the wishes.

"He has 6 weeks of panto first "

Oh no he doesn't !

Sorry. I will get my coat.
