So with the big reveal of the 50th anniversary programme it feels like a good time to start the 2026 chat!

Here we go again 🥳🥳🥳

Thanks @doesanybodyhaveamap and @Biscuitsneeded - i might drop them a line and see if I get a response. Its not for a holiday, its for another opportunity but we may need to take a chance and see how the chips fall with NYMT and BYMT next year and give up the opportunity now as the current opportunity is a slightly second place option for DC! 🤷‍♀️

Biscuitsneeded · 20/06/2026 13:59

I don't know for sure, but they may have already fixed next year's rehearsal dates. I imagine they are always one step ahead of the current season. You could drop them a line and ask, in case they are able to tell you.

doesanybodyhaveamap · 20/06/2026 13:05

@EweCeeit varies depending on the dates of school holidays as they tend to rehearse either at private schools or ArtsEd. The only safe way to avoid a clash is to wait until after casting to make plans unfortunately, which isn’t ideal and arguably unfair on the rest of the family… but it’s the way we’ve always had to manage it. Either that or accept there may be a missed opportunity OR admin fees for changing holiday dates 🥴

Hi all, just thinking ahead to next year already for diary management/options - does anyone have an idea of what Easter (April) dates NYMT typically do for rehearsals IF cast in a summer show? We had a clash this year and trying to pre-empt it for next year! Thanks

Truetoself · 08/06/2026 12:37

@Biscuitsneeded I was there too and their choice of winner and runners up were the same as mine!
Particularly impressed with the girl from Uni Oxford who wouldn’t have had time to spend as much time on her performance skills as those in full time drama school

I very much enjoyed the Sondheim Society Awards yesterday. Lovely to see the cast of West Side Story sing a medley on that iconic stage! Also lovely to see three recent NYMT members among the 12 finalists - they were fabulous - and also an NYMT alumnus as part the entertainment during the jury deliberations!

Incidentally (Sinatra actor) was in the same year/class as another NYMT friend of ours.

I didn't see it but it must have been a wonderful experince for them.

One of my dh's former students opened the show which made him so proud.

So cool! Apparently they were all geeking out over meeting the Sinatra cast 😂

Wasn’t Rafferty’s performance at BGT just absolutely brilliant?! Lovely to have included some of NYMT as well!

Very very special! He’s such a star 🤩

Yesterday's event was just Platform, and the rest of the young people were from the CORE schools in Birmingham. My DS was there, and I had no idea because they weren't allowed to say anything! The CORE students didn't know the King was going to be there. I think they couldn't have involved any younger NYMT students because they wouldn't have been able to keep the secret, and parents would have had to be involved.

Truetoself · 15/05/2026 13:28

Yea I saw that. I wonder how NYMT selects people for events

Kittykat57 · 15/05/2026 12:21

Just spotted Platform and other young NYMT company members performing for the king and Idris Elba. What a fabulous experience for them all. 😊

Hi All - wondering if anyones kids have ever done the Guildhall Acting Summer Course for ages 12-15? considering it for my DD who is 15 and would like to do some acting specific training. She's doing NYMT skills course in early Aug, so am conscious also of the costs in doing that and also the Guildhall but willing to consider if the Guildhall one is well regarded. Would appreciate any insights :-)

Ragged Child on sale! Lots gone already…..x

I was on Instagram when they posted, and already had the booking page open from when I’d looked the other day. Still wasn’t first, and the rest of the row went while I typed my details!

Mcmumager · 21/04/2026 22:49

Only a few tickets left for the Saturday night WSS if anyone was thinking of booking.

Was on here wondering if anyone had heard anything! Do people just get selected somehow?

I imagine they will just select. I’m afraid I don’t know how it works. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ooooh! NYMT are going to the Proms! How exciting! Had anyone’s DC been asked to take part yet? What an amazing opportunity!

Just a BYMT update of the Cottingley Fairies production that my DD has been engaged in over the past few weeks in Birmingham. She had an absolute ball and is very sad to be home now, lol. The production was intense - 12hr rehearsal days for 2 weeks before opening last weekend, so tiring but rewarding she says. She learnt so much and made fantastic friends - a really lovely and inclusive cast and production team. And the show was so good! Excellent story and script, catchy score and amazing choreo. I personally am still singing the songs and thinking of the choreography after seeing it (twice!)! I hope everyone else's young people have equally amazing experiences as the season progresses.
