Glad your DC enjoyed it. They normally hear within a few days, but it probably varies a bit depending on how many weekend auditions there were around the country, what else is going on etc. Hopefully you wont be waiting more than a week. Was your DC told anything?

Authenticallyme1010 · 18/01/2026 22:39

Hi all - my DC had a lovely time auditioning in Birmingham today. Quick question - does anyone have an approx idea of how quickly they receive an email re; next stage etc. Last year was about 4 days, but conscious a lot more are auditioning this year.

Good luck to everyone auditioning this weekend! Congratulations to those who already have recalls and commiserations to those that don’t. It’s always so hard. My DC has experienced both sides and it’s never easy. DC deliberately picks a later audition date now so the process is as short as possible!

Break a leg to your DC! Feels like the stakes get higher every time...

DD has booked an audition! last possible date, and now needs to gear up and practice her pieces.
Crossed fingers!

DS is just gearing up for NYMT audition this weekend. All fingers crossed and biscuits at the ready. As he's under 18 he had to choose a song from the list, which I thought was pretty extensive - but some quite challenging songs too. Anyway, can't really control much in all this other than giving it your best shot and enjoying it - which thankfully seems to be pretty much all DC's experience. Good luck to those going along this weekend!
Well done to those with recalls already and commiserations to those not getting what they hoped for this time. It's such a rollercoaster all of this!

Break a leg to him! Keep us posted...

I have a disappointed DD after auditioning at the weekend, they have had recalls previously and been offered a skills workshop, however BYMT audition shortly so onto the next one!

Sorry to hear that. The disappointment is tough, especially if they enjoyed the day. I hope your DD will bounce back and enjoy her BYMT audition - wishing her every success.

Parent of a new NYMT auditionee here! 👋

For the previous poster, the list of new musical workshops can be found here: nymt.org.uk/new-writing/

My DC has been invited to two casting workshops for shows. Are these each held across different days, or will there be one casting workshop per production where they gather all the young people they have selected to audition for that project?

Thanks so much!

Congratulations to your DC!

Each show will have several recall sessions across 2 or 3 days with about 15 - 20 people in each group who could be all ages, genders and sizes. If you are recalled for 2 shows, the team will make sure your sessions are consecutive - or at the very least, on the same day - so you won't have to travel there twice. You'll get sent some materials to look at/prepare about a week before the recall date. Recalls are generally great fun and although thee are bound to be nerves here and there, if your DC enjoyed the first round it should be right up their street.

Results from last weekend seem to have been coming out. DD has been invited to a recall for the new musicals workshops. I can't see on the website what the dates of all those are and which are residential - does anyone know? Good luck to all waiting results and the next batch of auditions!

Fab - thanks for sharing. My DS has finally settled on his chosen song after considering at least 8! Was the dance routine manageable?

Yes, it was ok. At the end of the dance number they could devise their own ending, some jumped into splits, others just posed. This was the first time my DD had been happy with a dance audition as they are not trained and they were quite anxious about it.

My DD (14) auditioned in Cambridge on Sunday, they said there was a good mix of songs, although the song from Anastasia was the most popular for girls.

Just out of curiosity what are the set songs?

There is a decent choice - plenty for each voice type. And over-18s can choose their own.

Hi everyone! Any feedback from your DC from the NYMT auditions from last couple of weekends? Any listed under 18 songs to avoid (everyone sang) etc. My DS is auditioning this weekend. 🤞🤞🤞

Advent0range · 12/01/2026 10:02

Aargh DD says she has no audition pieces ready!

The production dates are listed when you click on the list of shows on this link https://share.google/9pbWR6TFotD8wqdcJ

Does anyone know what the types of outcome can be please for NYMT? If you audition do you always get something? Is the something skills week or residential two weeks? Or are there other outcomes? Thanks

Cheers! This is the link I was looking for but for some reason my brain couldn't locate it on the website the other day!

Just want to add to DMEAmums explanation to say that if you attend a casting workshop for a particular project it doesn't absolutely mean you are ruled out of casting for one of the others! This happened to my DD last year - she recalled for one project and was actually placed in another (and had the best time)

Biscuitsneeded · 09/01/2026 19:03

Anyone on here in Bristol last weekend?

I believe that the options are that young people are either cast in a specific production (residential), cast in a new musical workshop (residential), offered a skills workshop (residential) or offered a skills workshop (non residential). As far as I am aware, everyone who auditions is offered some kind of pathway or option which NYMT feels is appropriate for their skills and experience.

Sooooo its almost time! Is this first weekend of the in person B/NYMT workshop auditions? We are booked for the end of Jan and start of Feb so still a few weeks for us yet.

Wanted to quickly ask, I noticed up thread someone mentioned the dates of the NYMT productions. Can anyone link me to where we can find out what the anticipated dates are for the various projects? I couldn't seem to find it on the NYMT website. (I know BYMT haven't announced their shows yet so no info available!)

Thanks all :)

Edited

There were NYMT auditions in Bristol last weekend and recalls have been sent out apparently.
