Our BYMT offer is for Clockmakers City and we couldn't be happier!

Can I just take a moment to say that the BYMT process is much longer than the NYMT one and it can take a while for offers to be released. Again I will say this for people who visiting for the first time that this is our fourth audition cycle and we have had all sorts of offers and results over the years, starting with a camp , then a show the next year, followed by an agonising waitlist last year (which did eventually result in a show) then an offer again this year.

Point is things change really quickly with BYMT, but it is a longer process so stick with it!

Someone mentioned about doing a camp and transferring to a show if a space becomes available - the camps are really great - especially for KS3 as an introduction to a week residential and how intensive it can be. I strongly strongly recommend as my DD's first experience was through a BYMT camp and it built so much confidence.

@ThisKookyFinch well done to DD!!! We are away all of Easter and most of July so I was looking at the London residential camp in August.

Next year I'll wait to book holidays as I think she'll want to prioritise these auditions. It's been a full-on year for her with 11+ exams and her big reward is a 3-week holiday over Easter. :-)

We've just had a second stage offer too for BYMT and it stated DD will find out mid-March if considered for a show.

I'd also booked a holiday at the end of August so DD wouldn't be able to perform in 2 shows. We are booking the Easter Camp so if your DD is going, we'll see you there :)

Just received a second-stage offer option for my DD from BYMT. She's just turned 11 and will be delighted with this as it's our first time trying for NYMT and BYMT (she was equally thrilled with the skills course from NYMT :-) ). From what I've read on the thread it seems there's still a decent shot she could get a second-stage offer so we'll sign up for BYMT residential for now as it's transferrable.

We had such a great time with it and will definitely sign up next year. I think part of our issue this year is we signed up quite late and already had holidays booked so are only available in August. Next year we will hold off booking holidays so her availability doesn't impact casting (not sure if that was the case this year but who knows!).

My DC received his GCSE results via email whilst on his second production week. The pastoral care team were amazing, set aside a quiet space etc. I recall there were a few DC’s that got their results the same day. They are very much geared up to support these scenarios.

Congratulations to your YP on the recalls! Great news.

I can fully understand you wouldn't want your YP to do Ragged Child rehearsals in half term, in the midst of GCSE exams. Just let NYMT know you don't want YP to attend that recall.
For summer projects, there will probably be a few company members in every show receiving A level or GCSE results. NYMT can usually allow them to disappear to a quiet place for a while to read an email or log into to UCAS, speak to parents or whatever. The pastoral team are lovely and would be very supportive. However, GCSE results day is also opening night for Everyday so I don't think they could accommodate YP travelling back home to receive results in person at school. Could you talk to school and arrange for results to be sent electronically, or collected by you? And if you have to do an immediate registration for a 6th form in person, perhaps you being a proxy could be arranged with the intended 6th form in advance, given that Everyday would be a hugely educational and beneficial experience? Seems a shame to give up the chance of recalling.
Alternatively, if dates really don't work but YP would be keen to do a workshop, you could ask if they can transfer to a new musical workshop recall, and supply your YP's availability so that they can place them in a project that might work, if successful.

My ds received his A level results whilst on NYMT. They will check who is expecting results and give them the time away to take calls, emails etc and obviously support them if needed.

I'm so glad I found this thread! DD has done the BYMT audition for the first time this year and my DH is getting itchy fingers to book our holidays. It's reassuring to hear that others are patiently waiting to hear back from BYMT.

NYMT are aware of exam results days. Several participants received their A level results whilst my son was on the residential. I think they had arranged to receive the results by email or via a parent. I assume that if anyone had needed to do anything with regards to ucas in the case of results not being as expected then provision would have been made.

Hello. Been lurking for a while. Well done to all your children for auditioning this year.
My YP auditioned for NYMT (for the first time) on Sunday and has been offered recalls for Ragged Child and Everyday. We just applied for the experience so were shocked to get recalls. Unfortunately, I don't think I was concentrating when I filled in availability (probably as I assumed YP wouldn't get through to the next stage) and we definitely can't do Ragged Child's dates. Everyday also clashes with GCSE results day and also preferred National Youth Choir course, but we could maybe change the NYC course. However, what are the arrangements for GCSE day while on a NYMT? NYC can grant time off, but I am assuming NYMT can't due to the rehearsal process.
Appreciate that YP might not get anything from the recalls, but this is frying my brain!
I will tell NYMT that Ragged Child is a no go, but should we still go to the recall for Everyday given the uncertainty? Or should we ask if it's possible to be considered for workshops instead?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you
Also, those of you who's DC's have been recalled for WSS- are they really strong dancers? I am assuming they are!

I think you have 2 weeks to accept or decline an offer from BYMT after which point they will release your offer to the waitlist.

If you needed a few days grace due to timing (e.g deadline is 27th and payday is 30th) they would probably be open to a conversation though as they do try very hard to make sure everyone offered can take up their place :)

In terms of payment for BYMT I dont think it all has to be paid at once (unless the Easter Show) its usually a deposit then a balance in the month ahead of the actual show.

And yes, last year the BYMT offers landed on the first day of the NYMT recalls 😮

I thought I might be a little early and yes agree - I think we heard Feb half term last year. I think we heard from BYMT a few days before NYMT. Hopefully soon though!

I hadn't realised there were still online auditions to go. Fingers crossed it will be soon after that!

Not heard anything yet - as your DD has done BYMT before you probably already know its a longer wait! I'll expand a bit for anyone else who may not have been through the audition cycle before and landed here looking for an answer :)

BYMT release all of their offers after all of the nationwide auditons - so if you are an early audition date you can have a long wait!

The final BYMT auditions were last weekend (with an overflow online for international auditionees this week) so everyones results should be coming through from BYMT soon - I would guess in the next 10 days or so?

Last year BYMT sent their first stage offers out in Feb half term. Its impossible to say for certain but I am thinking this year may be similar?

I cant find details of the project dates on the BYMT website, but their Instagram recently confirmed the 2026 season (red are shows, yellow are camps)

Just saying hello and wondering if anyone else is waiting on BYMT results? DD has done BYMT and NYMT before but this year has just decided on BYMT.

She's a member of NYC and so the Easter residential for that clashes with the NYMT Easter rehearsals (I would also be completely broke if she did them all!).

Just commenting to see if anyone has heard about summer BYMT shows and in the hopes that others will mention if/when they hear.

Nervously waiting and also wanting to sort out our own summer hols when we hear!

Well that was a long few days but results emails from Sunday (and I assume Saturday) have arrived this morning

DD is heading back for the Just So casting workshop which is exactly the show we had pinned our hopes on getting (as she reads too old to be a ragged child and too young for an older teen)

For those expecting feedback- NYMT said in a Q and A session prior to the auditions that they cannot offer feedback. This would be the reality when going for professional castings as well.

@TheMerryQuoter My DD did a residential skills course last Easter. She had a fantastic time. It was at the private Sevenoaks School, so they stayed in the boarding house accommodation which was very nice. The overall facilities were really nice too. It was jam packed in terms of all the teaching. They learnt I think three or four extracts from various shows and then performed them to the parents on the final day just before we took them home. From my recollection they were a mix of singing things (with some acting and movement) and more movement/dance things (probably with singing as well). Given they'd all been thrown together and only had a few days to rehearse, I was impressed at what they achieved in terms of the performance quality.

DD got on well with a group of girls and generally it sounded like they were very well taken care of. There was a dedicated pastoral team separate from the tutors. The tutors sounded very on it, they did a whole thing about preparing for auditions (in general, not just NYMT) which DD found helpful. She took lots of notes! I also seem to remember that all the students performed a solo song and got feedback, and hearing everyone else's feedback was helpful to DD, as well as her own feedback.

We haven’t got direct experience of the skills course, but my DS was on a new musical workshop at the same time as a skills course the year before last, and they shared showcase time at the end of the week which we got to see. The yp all looked as if they had a fantastic time and they put together some lovely performances. It sounded like it was a kind of extended version of the audition day where they all took part in acting, singing and dancing sessions and then worked on some pieces together as a whole group and in smaller groups. They do get to work with some fabulous creatives!

And congrats to your DC @allhailthebrain ! I wonder if they’ll end up together again?

Hey all, my DD (12) just finished audition yesterday. While I am proud of her making friends and did her best for the whole day, I know there are lots of talents auditioned and she probably not getting any recalls.

I have asked her if should would like to do skills workshop if that's offered and she is happy with that. If anyone DC did the skill workshop before, can you share some experience how that works or what to expect?

If anyone wants me, I too @allhailthebrain will be overthinking and in the biscuit corner while my DS keeps a cool head and gets on with the hard work at the recalls. Always good to remember what we think as parents doesn’t always correspond with what’s happening behind closed doors for our DC. Although what we hear from them is also something to cherish, such as your DD’s thoughtful attitude @MxPickles All I can say is that my DS is happiest when he’s with a group of young people focusing on the task in hand and this could be in an audition, a skills course or performing in a show. It’s the camaraderie that he loves the most. Everyone he has met at NYMT has been absolutely fantastic and even the niggles get worked through and contribute to their growth as people - which is deeply reassuring as his mum. Of course there’s also the competition but unlike many areas of young people’s lives this is managed beautifully by NYMT by being an extremely inclusive and thoughtful organisation.
