Just watched tonight absolutely loved it and great to spot all the familiar faces. Some had absolutely great opportunities to really shine and more than held their own. We were on holiday at the time so know there was a lot of fomo not just of performance but of all the lovely time spent with friends but we were all ready for a break. Ended up watching the west side story proms and bond one too which were both also great. Only been to royal Albert hall to see Robbie so think a trip to the proms next year is required!

My DD was in Every Day and then in the BBC Proms in the choir. They’re the first full productions she’s done with NYMT & we’re all blown away by the professionalism in every aspect.
Such an incredible experience & opportunity for everyone involved.

Biscuitsneeded · 05/09/2026 22:43

I watched the Disney/Alan Menken Prom on TV this evening (available on iplayer now). NYMT were a part of it, which I knew about, but I hadn't expected them to have such a prominent role in it all - especially the 8 who cam out and danced/sang/had lines intermittently throughout the show. They were all so professional - what a coup. I recommend watching as they are in several numbers.

Mcmumager · 27/08/2026 16:07

Do you think Irish great great grandparents count lol . I’m sure they will be absolutely inundated.

Comefromaway · 27/08/2026 12:43

They are especially interested in performers with Lati Americal/Puerto Rican heritage and in any males with Italian, Polish or Irish hereitage.

Mumster40 · 26/08/2026 19:52

The National Theatre are holding rare open auditions for a classic musical that will be headlining their new season. I’m not 100% sure but I’d bet on this being West Side Story. They are looking for young triple threats. So if your young person was in NYMT’s WSS (or fit the brief) apply now! Over 18’s only.

My DDs went to see Every Day and said it was great. They said they loved the ensemble work. Sounds like a very intriguing concept. Congratulations to all!

Jamsanmum · 25/08/2026 19:02

My daughter was in Every Day. We are suffering hugely from withdrawal! What a show!!!

Biscuitsneeded · 23/08/2026 18:57

Congrats to all involved in Every Day. Absolutely stunning show with incredible vocals - thoroughly enjoyed it!
NYMT don't tend to stay too long in one venue these days. They may stay in Birmingham next year but they may also move elsewhere - or use a combination of venues.

Kittykat57 · 22/08/2026 13:47

Everyday has been absolutely amazing to watch!!!! The music/writing/choreo and sheer talent of all the cast and everyone involved is outstanding.
I don't think I have ever seen such a tight ensemble performance before!
I have never watched an NYMT new musical before either and this is very special.

I also have 2 tickets for the sold out final performance tonight if any one would like to use them. Sadly relatives are unable to join us and I would love for someone else to be able enjoy this truly superb show.

Yes, I think it was the Elephant one. Plus also they have done stuff at Rose Theatre in Kingston.

Sounds like they do mix it up a bit then. I was curious because I felt a little sad that the audience wasn't bigger for Just So. I know it's tricky because the company will come from all corners of the country so it probably doesn't make a huge difference... also because we'd booked Cadbury for the following day and DD caught a vomiting bug - we have a year to reuse the tickets and wondering if we'll be back that way again 😅🤣🤣

manicmumsday · 20/08/2026 13:28

I still have 2 matinee tickets for Everyday on Sat if anyone would like them? They’re free & great seats, feels a shame not to use them!

And in 2024 the Southwark Playhouse in London was used .

Prior to that they did a coupe of years at Leicester Curve but also did some of their shows elsewhere such as a private school in London. They also used to use The Other Palace.

seventwelve25 · 19/08/2026 09:36

We've only been involved with NYMT for the past 2 years, for both of which their shows have taken place at the Birmingham Hippodrome. I'm just curious as to whether this is always the case or if the venue ever changes?

seventwelve25 · 16/08/2026 14:38

Huge congratulations to anyone's young people who have been involved with Just So. We saw it yesterday and were blown away, an absolutely incredible show and the Kolokolo bird had me in tears! This was the first NYMT show we've seen and whether or not dd is lucky enough to make a show one year, I've no doubt we'll be back for more

I know the musicians only had 6 days of rehearsals and then straight to production week. Bernstein's score is fiendishly difficult so it's really impressive and remarkable they did this so well in such a short time!

And they sounded glorious!

Truetoself · 11/08/2026 15:20

I still can’t get over that they had people from Columbia especially!
It was an AMAZING performance- as good as anything I have seen in the West End. So much talent!

They will have started at Easter when they had a 6 day residential, and then this summer they had 9 days before moving to Birmingham for tech and dress runs.
And some of the Shark boys only arrived on summer. Absolutely phenomenal, wasn't it?

The shark boys who joined were just brilliant. The boys over from Columbia were just an absolute joy to watch and so lovely in person. The shark boys started rehearsing on the Friday to following Saturday . The rest of the cast arrived for 2pm Sat start and finished at 4 the following Saturday so just a week not 9 days for this one.

WSS was beyond good - it was incredible! I was so so impressed. So much talent - from the musicians, to the dancers, the singers, the creative sets and lighting, the choreography - all amazing. How long did the dancers have to practise?

HanD31 · 11/08/2026 07:28

Also blown away by WSS. Best version i have seen! Does anyone know why there are no reviews of the nymt shows this year?

starray · 11/08/2026 01:18

Mcmumager · 11/08/2026 01:03

The cast did about 6 days at Easter. Then back in July for a weeks rehearsal. Then moved to the theatre late Monday night to start tech rehearsals which continued into Tuesday. Dress rehearsals weds and open Thursday! It’s a lot to get through especially with such amazing choreography etc so they have long days and work really hard but love every minute. My jet slept most of today but that could’ve been the after show partying on Saturday night lol.

Wow - they did all that in 3 weeks?! I'm in awe. 😮
