Yeah just checked the results of the evening.

Some little upsets but pleased for the swimmers who pulled it out at the right time.

I remember Nowacki swimming at the counties when it was SC here when he was just 11/12 yo!

I was given amazing seats when I took that pic - courtesy of a really kind, lovely lady.

Had not expected a finals swim and was queuing at ticket office and she came up and offered hers for free ♥️♥️♥️

Some amazing swimming and the Scottish (& other home nations) supporters out in full force for their swimmers.

She’s really enjoying it and it’s been a learning process too.

Learning to progress through the rounds and deal with the pressure. Really proud of her. ♥️

It’s quite an intensive program with heats and semis in quick succession. I was surprised to see the 100 and 200 backstrokes in successive days, they are usually a little more spread out than that

Yes it’s certainly probably different from how it would have been if more planning time had been involved.

I’m not sure how the scheduling works but this is an integrated para meet too so I guess they have to take into account all the different events and running times.

Amazing that your daughter is competing, and well done to her on getting through to the finals! Has she got any other events still to swim?

yeah “integrated para meet” is a stretch. There’s 7 events for males and females over all 14 classes of each sex, some classes have 2 events. Not even any relays.

Feels very tokenistic rather than fully integrated but I get the schedule is limited. So I’m on the fence with that one because I’ve seen much more progress with equality recently and this feels like a step backwards.

However I’m also very pleased for the swimmers who got the chance to represent their country and wouldn’t want that taken away.

it feels very no win tbh.

I agree and many classes have no events, which is not unusual but doesn’t help with messaging on integration. If there aren’t the swimmers in each class at least points would allow some competition. I get they needed to scale back due to circumstances so also on the fence. It’s great to have some representation but a bit luck of the draw about which events included. But still an honour and spectacle for those who are there
