NYMT/BYMT 2025 (Act Two)

Starting a new thread as we filled up the old one!

DC 17 is in 6th season with NYMT. Also former BYMTer.

These annual threads have been a source of advice, emotional support and camaraderie for those of us with young performers enjoying everything that these awesome organisations bring.

Chucking some jammy wagon wheels in for anyone waiting for BYMT news!

I have seen lots of creatives announced - assistant MD, director, Choreo etc. My kid would love to do that but it's hard when you're a performer and it would mean needing to choose!

Musician applications close on Sunday so I guess people will start to hear from them. They usually do creatives (eg Asst Musical Directors) first.

I sent an email just after 5 and quickly got a reply, forwarding the email that had indeed gone to junk on the 13th! Second Stage offer for us, so more waiting and finger-crossing for us!

Ah glad you have your answer! We have BYMT reserve list this year after a BYMT production last year. NYMT have offered a New Musical tho, so its a bit of bumpy ride! Never know what is coming next. Wishing you loads of good luck x

I am not sure what BYMT's process is this year as some people had offers two weeks ago, some have recieved reserve list emails and some have not heard at all! Was poisting in the hope someone wiser than I knew something!

I haven’t heard anything at all since my DC’s BYMT audition, aside from generic email saying that we would have an outcome by today. Is anyone else in the same boat? Is this likely to mean development camp? (Running out of biscuits rapidly!)

So team, do we think there will be any further BYMT news today (last day for first round offers to be accepted) or do you think we need enough biscuits to last another week?

I've known instrumentalists be asked to swop shows but that was usually because it became apparent that a particular skill set was more suited for a particular show.

Occasionally they will widen the search for a very specific role (eg Hunchback a few years back)

Re: changing projects. It does happen but obvious it's rare. I know of someone who got a new musical workshop and was subsequently offered Crescendo. But not heard of any to the full musical shows. I also know someone who turned down their offer of a new musical workshop based on timings and has been given an offer for a different one.

Previous years my kid has actually been given a NM workshop then asked to join a show on two occasions! But one didn't happen at all (2020!) and the other was (I later discovered) a reason more specific to my kid and not because someone declined/dropped out so a one off. I still remember Jeremy's lovely emails - much missed x

Ours came through this morning. Phew 😅, DC officially in! We had all 3 invoices at once, but I'll stick to the deadlines for paying each one x

Yes participants on the musical workshops are invited to attend the Christmas concert
