NYMT/BYMT 2025 (Act Two)

Starting a new thread as we filled up the old one!

DC 17 is in 6th season with NYMT. Also former BYMTer.

These annual threads have been a source of advice, emotional support and camaraderie for those of us with young performers enjoying everything that these awesome organisations bring.

I'll certainly consider the Manchester event. I'm quite relieved as I am already paying for a music school tour and NYWO residential, so an NYMT would have been a financial stretch.

Nothing on the musician audition yet but DD does have a New Musical workshop place in August.

@Biscuitsneeded thanks for the advise. The dates clash with the week we have allocated for her to go on a trip with a group of girlfriends. That was so hard to arrange. I think this time, we will need to give it a miss.

Congratulations to those receiving offers. My DC got a no this time but offer of a non-residential course in Manchester in October.

Honestly, she's not too disappointed as has quite a busy summer already. I think she'll apply again another year.

If you can find the money and the dates don't clash, I'd say it's a pretty rare chance to do both because you actually can, and then see what you think. They're really quite different so it's not necessarily a case of one being better then the other. Your DD will then be able to decide for herself if she has a strong preference for any future years or whether in fact it makes sense to keep on auditioning for both and seeing what outcomes you get each time.

Has anyone's DC done both NYMT and BYMT in the same year? DD has been offered the opportunity. It IS a lot of money, which we could potentially find ......

I just wonder if she will get the same opportunity next year ....

We did. At least by doing then back to back it was easy for DC to get a feel for which they felt was their tribe.
