Starting a new thread as we filled up the old one!

DC 17 is in 6th season with NYMT. Also former BYMTer.

These annual threads have been a source of advice, emotional support and camaraderie for those of us with young performers enjoying everything that these awesome organisations bring.

Just come back from watching Platform. An incredibly talented bunch of young people. Thoroughly enjoyed it! And the shows for next year have been announced: West Side Story, Just So and Every Day!

Am delighted that Every Day is going to be the New Musical for 2026. My DS workshopped it in February and it sounded brilliant.
We also went to watch Platform last week and they were wonderful. Such a talented young cast! Hopefully they might announce the final show at the end of Platform this evening ? 🤞

seventwelve25 · 27/10/2025 19:40

Exciting news today!!!! Dd already signed up to audition. Are there more shows to be announced, do you think or just the 3 for 2026? Fab to see so many new musical workshops again 😊

doesanybodyhaveamap · 20/10/2025 21:29

Huge congrats to Team Platform! A gorgeous end to a fabulous season. Have a fantastic last show next week - we can’t wait to hear what next year is going to bring 🥳🥳

And Crescendo and Platform!

I had it in my head (incorrectly) that these had already taken place in the summer. I must keep up.

We had an email asking if DD would want to do one of the October non residential new musical workshops, but sadly we are going to be away. Bit sad really as she would have loved to take part x

Heya sorry didn't see your reply! Thank you so much for this.

Just realised that the season isn't quite over yet as there are October Half Term camps/workshops still to come. Anyone taking part in these?

And Crescendo and Platform!

Sorry, took me a while to respond to this. At NYMT all the new work submissions go through Kate Golledge, and I know there is a panel of young readers who work with her
Maybe get your DD to send an email to enquiries FAO Kate Golledge if she's keen?

Hi Team, the season is over and its been a rollercoaster for us! Hope everyone had a blast and I have LOVED following the progress of various shows and projects on social media.

By my calculations we have maybe six weeks of not stressing over the 2025 season before the 2026 season shennanigans start up again. I dont know how my nerves stand it to be honest..

Quick question as we wait for the new season to fully open for both companies (BYMT are booking 2026 auditions but NYMT are allowing us a bit of a breather...) Does anyone know much about the Young Company Panels in BYMT and whatever the equivalent is for NYMT. Any information and insight is gratefully recieved.

Well done parents and guardians on surviving another season in the life of a theatre kid/musican.

Edited

@MxPickles this year has felt so busy, I can’t really believe that we are gearing up for 2026 already! Can’t help with YP panels unfortunately.

Yes he did. He couldn’t do all the dates due to other commitments but as he lives nearby he was able to do some stuff. He knew the MD at NYMT.

HE’s now n London doing some work for a show at Stratford East.

Harder They Come with AM?

That's interesting- did he have a good time?

Id have thought BYMT was over now as schools are starting to go back.

ds ended up working behind the scenes on one of their shows.

Well the NYMT programme for summer 2025 is all over, with just Crescendo and Platform left to happen in a few weeks, followed by the 2026 50th anniversary season launch! I absolutely loved all four shows this summer - all so different, but with so much talent on display. I hope all participants in shows, courses and workshops had a brilliant time. Is the BYMT season finished? Hope everyone enjoyed that too!

If any London based young performer are looking for a fun challenge this Autumn term London Youth Opera is still open for registrations. Our dd has done it for many years and loves it!

Their social media said they had contingency plans, I just wondered what they were. With young people I imagine that health & safety will be paramount.

What will they do if the weather is bad?

I don't think rain will stop them unless it's absolutely lashing down like it did yesterday pm. It rained twice during the show last night but the show continued. The real worry is high wind. They could do a concert version indoors in the school... praying to the weather gods for them that doesn't have to happen! It looks absolutely stunning outdoors and they sounded glorious last night.

A wonderful first show for Carousel - particularly as they hadn't managed a dress run due to the weather! Actors, musicians, costumes, crew - all brilliant. Very impressed by the standard. Pray to the weather gods for the next 2 days....😬!

Mcmumager · 29/08/2025 00:36

Oh so pleased it went well for them. We are away on holiday but were watching the rain and were so worried! What an experience for them all!

yodaforpresident · 29/08/2025 00:13

What a fabulous first show for Carousel - so pleased that the rain held off for them! Fabulous set, costumes and lighting. The performances from the young people were very polished and it looked like they were having so much fun.

Lionelblair · 22/08/2025 23:06

Yes @Biscuitsneeded first staged show for nymt, did a new musical workshop 3 years ago. He is already planning for auditions for next year so definitely now has the bug. We will plan to get to all shows in the future as the quality and energy is something else. You’re right about the professionalism. But my sense is this is balanced by a deeply supportive and friendly atmosphere. Great success! 🤩

Bias aside, just seen LB and was absolutely blown away by everyone in and contributing to this new musical. Inspirational. The dance and choreography was outstanding. I now realise why there has been little to no contact from my DS these last couple of weeks! Sad I couldn’t see any of the other shows, but if anything like this they must have been amazing.

Isn't it great? Was it your son's first NYMT show? (I've lost track a bit). Yes, they are always this good!😆😆. This summer has been fantastic, with such a variety of shows just bursting with talent and professionalism. And there's still time to get tickets for Carousel next week!
