School ski trip cost

I have run school ski trips for years. Costs vary incredibly, but you generally get what you pay for if the cost is £1200 - £1600, which seams the modal sort of price.
Most trips are either 5 or 6 days skiing. If you live near Dover, you are better off coaching. Taking 40 children on a flight can be very hard!
Some school trips only have 3 hrs of ski school per day, most 4, but many 5 hrs plus an hour supervised lunch. Accommodation varies, as does the food offering. Are they staying close to the slopes or is there an hour deive each morning and afternoon? (I would say 30 minutes is ok, but tootmuch more not)
the quality of ski equipment and the quality of the ski school varies massively. The last 2 years, the ski school I have used have been brilliant, but cost of an extra instructor for the week is a whopping £2400! A decade ago, I had to get very angry with the tour operator who eventually sacked the ski school as they were terrible...... 'follow me'....and hire the main area one (in St Anton).
Hoe many staff are on 'free places' from the tour operator? Some schools, for good reason take more staff.... that costs.
Is the ski area vast or are there just 50km of piste?

I hear of independent schools near me charging between £2K and £4k!!

My trip in greatly improved by taking a 4wd vehicle as extra. This way we can more safely and constructively deal with any children who are injured. There are other benefits too, but it costs.
Finally, Feb half term is more expensive than April (bit you need to go to high resorts or a glacier generally to ski in April). My DD's school had an april trip for 5 days skiing at 4 hrs per day, by coach to a small resort where the pistes were between 600m and 2400m. They were charging £1600. My school trip was to Ischgl (210km piste). 6 days skiing at 5 hrs per day in December for £1300.

I would guess that a trip below £1200 might be of poor quality....

Sounds about right it’s an expensive holiday- what were you expecting it to cost?

Ours is £1600 for a week, flights, hotel, full board, ski hire & pass.

ours was £1,500 and that included 5 das of 6 hours skiing (2x 3hrs) and flights etc. 2 years earlier the same trip was £1.2k.

Forgot to mention our price included ski school for 3 hours a day too, many of the children had never been skiing before. After looking at some of the other prices here I’m starting to think we got a bargain!

At our school it's £1,900 for 5 days in France! Obviously our kids won't be going.

Vinted is great for ski clothes. Especially for kids.

Next year’s one is £1600, flights and in Feb half term for seven days. (Mine is not going but I saw the letter.) The kids who have never skied before get taken for a day at the local snozone but then spend the week learning in the beginners group so no extra lessons needed.

@Tooski maybe we can, I think on the letter it said we needed salopettes and a jacket, I’ll look into this more as we bought crazy warm (and bloody expensive) jackets for their school trip to Iceland - we may be able to reuse, they’ve been hanging up since the trip and never worn again as they’re ’so unfashionable’ - you know, just plain dark black practical jackets 😂 mind you it doesn’t really get cold enough here to wear them so I can’t blame them entirely!

Easily £1500+ but as others have said, the details including where in UK you're travelling from will impact.

Are lessons included, if your DC has never skied before? If so this would put it closer to £2k I'd say. If not, you might want to factor in sending them on a few at a UK dry slope ahead of going so they can grasp the basics as you can't really pick these up on your own over a few days.

Skiing in the Alps is one of the most expensive holidays you can do. Used to be the preserve of the super rich only. We paid I think just over £1k. The school tried to keep the cost down by staying in a really shit hotel. Wish we could have paid a little more so they could stay somewhere abit nicer

Depends on time of year, resort,and if 5 days skiing or 5d including travel.

Ours is £1800 this year, 8 days, 3 days travelling (1.5 each way) and 5 days skiing.
They said the reason they’re going by coach is because it has cost only £5 more than last year with the price hike of flights, it would have been a few hundred pounds more if they flew.
This covers everything except some spending money, lunch on the first day and obviously we will have to get the clothes.

£1700 for next years ski trip- DC isn't going!

Ours was £1300 last year to France. We could pay £100 per month though in the run up which helped, he did love it to be honest and good as none of the rest of us are interested in skiing!

My son went this year. £1100 total which included:

Travel by coach to Austria
Accommodation
Insurance
Helmet and ski hire
Five day ski/lift pass
Breakfast and evening meal
Lunch on the mountain
Evening activities such as a swimming trip and an Italian restaurant
One ski lesson at a centre near us before the trip

Expect anything between £1000-2000 + clothes.

Depends on when the trip is taking place. Feb half term is one of the more expensive times. Our trip to Europe (flying) is. £1485 in December.

£1500 ish. Is it France, canada, USA? All depends where it is I would think.

Ours is £1500 for the week - 6 days skiing plus 2 days travel- coach to Austria. That’s all inclusive except some spending money.
