We saw The last day of the war in Margate BYMT - a wonderful show and such a talented cast. Lovely old theatre too.

Biscuitsneeded · 27/08/2021 22:25

Glad a second time slot has been found for the White Bear company. I think if they really want to do it they will make time at Easter despite GCSE or A level revision! Traditionally NYMT has 2 residentials - a week at Easter and 10 days in summer before the show week. I honestly think the kind of kids who want to dedicate their lives to performing will be willing to spend their other Easter week revising and still do just as well as the kids who stay at home for two weeks kidding themselves they are working but actually phone scrolling or playing Fifa!

Mcmumager · 27/08/2021 02:13

So very sad to see the show cancelled- so sad for the cast and creatives involved but glad they will get to go ahead at Easter.

My daughter was offered this show but the dates didn’t work. She however tested positive a couple of days before it was due to start so wouldn’t have made it anyway!

So pleased my ds got his time in Peter Pan although I think our stay in Torquay started the spread of covid in our family! Worth it though for the amazing time he had.

Congratulations to all those who’ve performed this summer!

allhailthebrain · 27/08/2021 01:12

So sorry to hear White Bear was pulled. It's all so difficult at the moment isn't it! I hope they all manage to make it at Easter.

We're just going through the post-show mourning period here, after 3 weeks of such intensity, home is, well... not home any more! He wants his 50 friends back please, and the place he can be himself... He'll be back, let's hope next time covid worries won't be so real for all x

Comefromaway · 26/08/2021 10:20

It is great they are moving to Easter though I did see that for a small handful of kids (Year 11) that may not work which is a shame.

Newgirls · 26/08/2021 10:16

I’ve seen pics of goblin market - it looks like they are having fun

doesanybodyhaveamap · 26/08/2021 10:15

great that they are going to resume at Easter! the kids will be delighted to be reunited then I'm sure. Silver linings....

Goblin Market opens tonight. DD is having a blast socially although isn't quite so keen on the actual music (very contemporary) but I'm interested to see the show. Also to see her face, which I am missing enormously after two back to back projects!!!

Glad to see it’s moving to Easter.

Comefromaway · 24/08/2021 09:53

So sorry to hear that. We know exactly how it feels.

Biscuitsneeded · 23/08/2021 22:48

Oh I'm sorry to read that. Poor kids. I hope if they have the makings of a a show they'll be able to get them all back together to perform it at some point.

doesanybodyhaveamap · 23/08/2021 17:11

Ohhhh that's such sad news! One of DD's friends is on that show 😭 how awful for them all. X

Newgirls · 23/08/2021 16:58

Oh no that is very sad for the whole team. I wish it was different.

minimits · 23/08/2021 16:41

Oh I’m so so sorry @Quitelikeacatslife @feelinhopeful they (and you) must be so so upset. I really hope they get to do it at Easter. I so feel for them.

DalekFan · 23/08/2021 16:24

Oh no, so sorry to hear that @Quitelikeacatslife @feelinhopeful, that is gutting for them all. I do hope they can do it again next year.

Quitelikeacatslife · 23/08/2021 16:15
@Quitelikeacatslife on my way too. So sad for them all. Fingers crossed that they can all get together to do it at Easter.
Yes that will be good if it can happen, busy canceling hotels etc for weekend. He's had an amazing experience for this week already, that's what I'll have to say to him:(

feelinhopeful · 23/08/2021 16:04

@Quitelikeacatslife on my way too. So sad for them all. Fingers crossed that they can all get together to do it at Easter.

Quitelikeacatslife · 23/08/2021 15:59

Just off to collect DS , legend of white bear has had to be pulled, 2 more positive lateral flows . So sad for them ,

Newgirls · 22/08/2021 18:31

Our girls, our game finished! It was brilliant! A great true story, moving and funny too, great vocals. Very talented all female directing and writing team too 💪🏽

Biscuitsneeded · 22/08/2021 12:49

Well we thoroughly enjoyed Henrietta. Huge congrats to all the DC involved. And I agree, the fact that these shows happened at all is testament to the determination and courage in the face of adversity of the organisations producing them. They really do give young people such special and needed experiences that go way beyond just being in a show.
@allhailthebrain I think this venue may have been the best option available when ALW pulled the plug on The Other Palace. It looks like a beautiful theatre though?

@feelinhopeful Sorry to hear about the positive LFTs. Fingers crossed now the guidance has changed they won't have to send home close contacts and the show can go on, as long as not too many end up getting positive tests. Gutting for those who have to go home though. I hope you have had communication from head office now.
Yes that's right, it is a beautiful theatre - it's just that with it not being central, audiences have been smaller which is a shame. I've heard tomorrow night is looking full for the last show though - looking forward to that!
I am just so relieved, after all this time, and all the stress, that the show HAS gone on! Massive credit to the NYMT team in such uncertain times!

Biscuitsneeded · 20/08/2021 19:56

Of course, awful for those who can't now do the show. Covid is PANTS. I hope no further cases will be identified.

In happier news, NYMT's Hunchback has been nominated for an Offie! twitter.com/OffWestEndCom/status/1428728470260027393

Really well deserved by the entire Hunchback company.

feelinhopeful · 20/08/2021 15:17

@Comefromaway yes totally devastated for those that have tested positive. Hopefully the BYMT will be able to offer them another production at a later date.

I feel for our youngsters so much at the moment, these should be the best years of their lives and they are missing out on so much.

Comefromaway · 20/08/2021 14:58
@Quitelikeacatslife how is your ds getting on?

My dd is also on legend of white bear lake and has been on the phone in tears due to a couple of positive lateral flow tests amongst the cast. Have you heard anything? I've emailed the office to ask at what stage they would pull the whole thing but haven't heard back.

Will be gutted if it does get cancelled as my dd is having so much fun. She loved the cabaret the other evening.
Under the new rules anyone who is under 18 doesn't have to isolate so it will only affect the older cast members who havn't been able to be double vaxxed.

Spare a thought for the ones who tested positive. This was my dd 5 days before her grad showcase and she was devastated.

feelinhopeful · 20/08/2021 14:10

@Quitelikeacatslife glad he enjoyed the cabaret, my dd said everyone was so supportive of each other which is lovely. She has made so many new friends already, she'll be gutted if they end up pulling it. I guess if there are more cases over the next few days they'll need to make a decision.

@Biscuitsneeded no, nothing yet. I guess they are busy with the other shows etc. I have been messaging my dd telling her not to worry as it's out of her control, I really should listen to my own advice!!

Biscuitsneeded · 20/08/2021 12:33
