Fantastic news @minimits , one of my students will be in the ensemble with him. No news on anyone else here yet!

Pollydollydimpledo · 23/04/2021 16:34

@minimits
Huge congratulations 🎉

So exciting

Waiting patiently for my DD performer outcome for Billy.... might have to saddle up for a nervous few days!!

First time doing anything like this, so proud of my DD reaching this stage whatever the outcome 🤗

Good luck to all your DC!!

DalekFan · 23/04/2021 16:19

I think the answer to that would be no as I’ve entered shows into that exam before and the marking criteria are for singing, acting & dance.

minimits · 23/04/2021 16:13

Thank you everyone!!! What an emotional rollercoaster....

doesanybodyhaveamap · 23/04/2021 16:12

@Operagirl1

My DD isn't happy atm as she feels she might have missed out on something better. It looks as though Nightshade is largely an ensemble piece. There is no mention of a part only an offer of being in the show. DD really wanted a part. We will have to pull her out of a professional opera production she is in to do this. She is due to audition on Sunday for a small part in the opera. I will have to phone BYMT for more details tomorrow. Very annoying, the whole thing!
DD was in an ensemble piece in 2019 (A.L.I.C.E) what she learnt and experience from an ensemble BYMT was equivalent to at least a year of everything else she had done at that point. Her show ( and the entire cast) was awarded grade 8 musical theatre in production by trinity. The show was only cast on the second day of rehearsals - there were only 2 parts and they were very small. This year she will be in Peter Pan with casting in May half term - we know her casting type and the show so are hopeful this time. She is now at performing arts college and has been told that BYMT is very much something that should be on her CV due the high regard the industry holds for their shows.
Comefromaway · 23/04/2021 16:06

That’s fantastic minimits

lolacharlie43 · 23/04/2021 16:05

Congrats to your DS @minimits :-)

It means the negotiations about main leads where people were chosen by two directors for two shows are finished...I’m not sure we can tell anything else...

doesanybodyhaveamap · 23/04/2021 15:57

@dinosaurinmybelly she was accepted into both last year - was placed in Imaginary ensemble for NYMT but obviously that didn't happen. They did lots on zoom - fitness sessions, quizzes, webinars. So we did still feel part of NYMT even if she didn't get to perform. While not getting to do the show was disappointing, it was still nice to feel a part of it and although I have moaned about the audition process this year, I'm pretty confident in them as an organisation and am sure it's just a one-off because of the very weird times we find ourselves in.

BYMT we did less with - accepted into the pool and offered a show, but it was postponed to Easter which we weren't available for so pulled out. My initial impressions were that it was all a bit more haphazard than NYMT. But my interactions with the team this year have been really positive.

So we approach both with great excitement and an open mind!!

I've accepted both offers and am hoping we can pull it together financially by doing some fundraising!!! But both are musician offers, which equate to around the same amount as one stage role...

Will they go through the full cast of hunchback before moving on to the others?

lolacharlie43 · 23/04/2021 15:54

@janinlondon

Hunchback main roles are out.
My DD is on the edge of her seat now.. Hopefully the wait will be over soon :-)
Biscuitsneeded · 23/04/2021 15:51

@janinlondon Guess you can't elaborate... Wink

Comefromaway · 23/04/2021 15:49

Doesanybodyhaveamap has experience with both I think

janinlondon · 23/04/2021 15:48

Just Leads so far.

allhailthebrain · 23/04/2021 15:41

Wow congratulations @dinosaurinmybelly that’s an amazing achievement at such a young age!
I’m afraid I’ve only ever researched the performer side of things so I don’t know about musicians - but I am confident one of the others will know Smile

Biscuitsneeded · 23/04/2021 15:40

Are they Jan?

Biscuitsneeded · 23/04/2021 15:39

@dinosaurinmybelly Congratulations to your DD! DS has only ever done NYMT, and as a performer, but first went away to them when still at primary school, and the pastoral care was then, and has been ever since, fantastic. They pastoral team are lovely people and they really look after the kids. They will have checked out all accommodation and the children will be accompanied everywhere.
In terms of the quality of the shows, the training and the overall experience, you'd need someone who has done both - not sure there is anyone on this thread.

janinlondon · 23/04/2021 15:36

Hunchback main roles are out.
