Update here also, emailing saying they are still finalising the trickiest parts for musicians, which happens to be percussion which my ds is waiting to hear back on.

We have an update too.... DS was recalled for Henrietta, it's a no but reserved and considered for workshop, confirmation by Friday.... the not very confident wait continues, I'll restock the gin!!

DS is disappointed but ok, he's considering bymt, he very wisely said "it would help if they said what they're still looking for"

Alakazam I hope your DD enjoyed the workshop

Also, very much a bug!! DS3 has had it coming from both ends for 24hrs now ☹️ DS2 seems to have got off pretty lightly!!

An update. We’ve had a not successful email. (Recalled for BTK and Henrietta)
It does say reserved in case of any changes. Which makes me think they maybe having a bit of a nightmare trying to gauge acceptances. Thankfully DS is not too disappointed as he’s hoping this may mean we can go on holiday!
Good luck to all cast, hope it’s a fantastic and special experience. xx

I don't think this is tokenism. I think they had a vision of how they wanted the shared. Quasi role to work and didn't find that in their initial search. A bit like when they put a specific call out for tenors and basses for the show choir, and viola players for Parade..

I say from a position of certainty that NYMT are an inclusive organisation, particularly with neurodiverse participants. Granted, the process this year has been a bit rubbish and this will have been even more traumatic for ND applicants. But it won't have stopped many ND or other people with additional needs from being selected, just as they have been in bother years.

Don't get me wrong, I am totally with you on the way the delivery of outcomes is being handled. And I also have to admit slightly questioning the policy over last years cast - although I do understand it. But I do feel obliged to defend them on this particular issue 😘

I have to admit to feeling like their recent casting call for a d/dumb actor (what does the d stand for?) is a bit of tokenism.

Having read that Hunchback was going to be an inclusive production I assumed they meant truly inclusive and the audition process would reflect that along with support/accommodations during the rehearsal process.

Not advertising for one disabled person after all the auditions & whilst people are still waiting to know where they stand. (Many of whom might be disabled or neurodiverse)

Theres been another tweet tonight by NYMT saying that they still haven't finished sending out the GOOD news... I assume its about the workshop at this stage. Still no news for us

Well, nothing like 2 out of 3 DCs being sick in the car to distract from email checking 🤢 still no news here, but my car is now super clean and I'm a wine down!!!

@Biscuitsneeded that makes sense, and seems to be backed up by their tweet, thank you for your voice of reason, I agree though, it is a tough way of doing it!! Let's hope it is asap for our DCs, I'm pretty resigned to it being a no in our house now :-/

I think the likelihood of one of the few keys players declining is very low. Much more likely orchestral players will have booked summer courses etc.

He’s just turned 17 so falls into a tricky age bracket. It’s such a relief!! He’s over the moon. When I called him he was on the train going to see a friend and he sounded so down. He’s not now!!
