NYMT/BYMT 2021 (2)

Hope others on here with earlier starts aren't affected. School terms in England don't finish till around 23rd July anyway but am aware that may be different if there are BYMT projects in Scotland or Northern Ireland.

I don't know TBH. DS's production with NYMT starts rehearsing 24.07 so fingers firmly crossed for that. 4 weeks is OK for us, as long as things do lift after that - but I wonder if venues will get jittery? And who knows what the virus will do in the next 4 weeks? No idea what to think really...

Does the leaked, confirmed delay affect any productions?

It is getting close to the wire for things but I guess it’s how things are classified.

I’d assumed Peter Pan is an outdoor performance so that might be in their favour?

I just hope all these kids get to perform. I’ve been chatting to my son about it today. He’s so excited and we were talking about that buzz they get on stage and how it’s almost hard to remember how that felt.

I have to say I am getting worried. The residential for Peter Pan is meant to start on 18 July, so a 4 week delay to restrictions being lifted would just about be OK. Any longer and I think it would be cancelled as would other shows. 😞

Alakazam glad your DD is OK. I'm sure it's worth another go next year for all these things.

Can I stick my head above the parapet and ask whether you all really think all of these shows will be able to happen? I veer between optimism and defeatism on a daily basis. I so, so hope they can, but DS and I both know he can't count on it.

Thanks for the kind messages. Dd wasn’t too disappointed. We won’t do a summer school this year but she will be doing a very good local one at a renowned school/college. She has also been offered a lot of recording sessions in a studio locally over the summer hols. We will audition next year again, particularly with NYMT who seemed much more open to dd’s additional needs. Luckily she enjoyed the audition process and hopefully will enjoy future auditions. We will look at summer schools as she gets a bit older, maybe in 2 years or so. Luckily we are at the very youngest end of the age group really!

Hello - just checked the details on Nightshade and it will no longer be in Plymouth. Has moved to London. Did anyone get an update about that? Wondering if I missed an email.

So place accepted in Peter Pan for my ds- he is really excited and I’m looking forward to my extra holiday to Devon .

How many of us are also in the reserves waiting room. My dd age 13 is there.

@Alakazam8 I'm sorry to hear that. We also had a no from NYMT earlier in the year. My dd preferred the audition with BYMT so if we get the expected no she'll do a summer camp with them.

I feel like princess Fiona with all the waiting!

@Alakazam8 sorry to hear that. I hope she isn’t too disappointed. It’s tough especially after all the waiting.

It’s a no for dd unfortunately for this year but they recommended that she do a summer school but think it was a general no email. She had a much more personalised response from Nymt and other contact since from them so would hope that there would be something with them in the future!

@Jojoscircus congratulations to your son- i think it’s a far away location that one for anyone! I hope you can make it work. Ours is also pretty far away! Not sure if any accommodation would be free for things either this year lol.

We now have to work out the logistics of it all- I’m not sure it could be much further from where we live.

@Mcmumager congratulations to your ds! From what I have heard in previous years most reserves have been offered a place but hard for your dd to still have to wait.

My ds has been offered a place on Peter Pan and my dd a reserve spot. Lots to think about and waiting game isn’t over lol.
