NYMT / BYMT 2021

Starting a new thread for NYMT / BYMT hopefuls in 2021.

DD13 is auditioning for NYMT for the second time as stage performer and as musician. We just received an invite to the next round (online workshops).

She was gutted that Covid put a stop to her show (Imaginary) last year so we are keeping everything crossed that she gets another shot.

We've also booked a BYMT audition and she's already in the musician pool there so hopefully a show of some sort this year if we get some kind of normality back again...

Anyone else out there?

@Biscuitsneeded he had one at 10:30 and one at 4:30. I was out for one having a long overdue haircut.
No internet issues here today either which was a completely bonus!
I think a couple of weeks before we find out. More gin required!

janinlondon · 17/04/2021 18:36

Seems to be pretty standard NYMT stuff - Some have been taken to break out rooms in both this morning and this afternoon's sessions to sing.

Biscuitsneeded · 17/04/2021 17:50

@Triflefan I have no idea. I went out! DS generally happy. How did your DS find it generally? Was he this morning or early pm? Mine was 2pm. He was just relieved the dance went fine without the music glitching and lagging this time.

Triflefan · 17/04/2021 17:07

@biscuitsneeded
How was the accent?
I daren’t ask DS how his went!

Comefromaway · 17/04/2021 15:54

One of dh’s students played Lucille in Parade too. (They double cast I think). We couldn’t go to see it unfortunately due to distance and other commitments.

Comefromaway · 17/04/2021 15:51

Yes, a girl from DD’s school was in 13.

Biscuitsneeded · 17/04/2021 11:48

Us too! JRB directed 13 for NYMT 9 years ago! Maybe they'll do a 10th anniversary reprise next summer. My DS is too old, but some of yours would be perfect! And NYMT's Parade a couple of years ago was incredible - real shame JRB didn't get to see what they did with it.

Comefromaway · 17/04/2021 11:43

Welcome to the thread.

My Ds is a massive JRB fan.

Biscuitsneeded · 17/04/2021 11:14

It's today! Will need to wake DS up shortly so we can start clearing a space. LOADS of luck to all recallers. The waiting room coffee is flowing and we will be opening the gin at lunchtime.

Jamsanmum · 16/04/2021 22:17

Best of luck to all the nymt recallers this weekend. We’re cacking it!!!! 🤪

allhailthebrain · 16/04/2021 22:17

Hi Everyone - newbie!
Found this thread by accident tonight. Have whiled away an hour or two reading and finding all these people doing the same amount of overthinking as me!
My DC has a recall tomorrow - cast last year for the first time (aged 12). I just assumed all those who were in last year would at least get a recall so I've been shocked by some of the results on here!

Trying not to write anything identifiable but my child had a similar experience to the person whose son trained for months to be Valjean and then it didn't happen. 7 months of work cancelled - followed by, of course, losing NYMT too - and that crucial last year of being in height/age for the West End (made finals in the past). I hadn't really heard of BYMT before today.

Overthinking is now even more energetic in my little brain for tomorrow after reading all your experiences - just got to cross our fingers! Last year recalled for two shows, this year just one. Good luck all!

Triflefan · 16/04/2021 21:47

@doesanybodyhaveamap
That’s lovely. I echo that for all the shows.

I think next year we all need a Pret meet up @aplo !
Last year OH and I walked to Leicester Square to watch Knives Out, stopping along the way for some shopping too. We managed a fully day of mooching for the recalls.
I remember DS panicking about this virus coming over from China and us Poo-pooing it...

doesanybodyhaveamap · 16/04/2021 20:59

Best of luck to all doing recalls! Rooting for #TeamMN xxxx

It’s so lovely to read lots of good news here- well done to all with the BYMT success!
Younger DS is starting to show some signs of nerves here but I think once he starts he will be ok. Older DS doesn’t want to talk so I think there are nerves there too. Both are at 2 tomorrow - older DS has managed to book a dance studio in college and will have good WiFi so only younger on the wifi here.

@Biscuitsneeded I do think all cowboys have irish heritage- at least he is moving geographically in the right direction- just the Atlantic to cross now!

Best of luck to all this weekend - hope they all have a positive experience! I never thought I’d miss sitting waiting in Pret on Vauxhall Bridge road so much! Hopefully we will all be back there next year!

Triflefan · 16/04/2021 20:45

@minimits
Absolutely!

minimits · 16/04/2021 20:30

To be honest after all this we all need whisky. Lots of it.

Triflefan · 16/04/2021 20:27

Whisky?? I need whisky! Should have said whilst!

Triflefan · 16/04/2021 20:26

All your offers came through whisky I was typing!! Amazing news to those who were successful!

Triflefan · 16/04/2021 20:25

Evening all! I haven’t been on for a while and hoped you’d all have heard from BYMT by now. Keeping everything crossed!

How are all the NYMT recallers doing?
DS is running through the dance again now.
Really not sure about his accent for BTK? 😬 He keeps shouting out ‘this is the wildest ride in the wilderness!’ As his trigger 😂😂
