Hi. My DD who is 14 also applied this year for the first time. She sent her tapes off on 29 Jan and had a zoom audition on 28 Feb. Been following this chat and hope you don’t mind me waiting with you too! Good luck to all your DC. Hope the wait isn’t too much longer to hear

sounds like still a view workshops to go ....i wonder if they will start musician workshops then?

If you're concerned, could you try emailing the links to the videos to a trusted friend to see if they can open them? If you're still concerned, I think I would email NYMT. Honestly they are very nice, and if you explain that you are concerned you made a mistake I'm sure they will be able to reassure you. @DalekFan I suspect the slight randomness is because they are sending the videos to different creatives to watch, and some may be able to review more quickly and pass to the next person than others, which then affects the date by which they are in a position to decide whether to recall or not.

Seems to be a bit random then when you will hear. We submitted ours on 20 Feb, so after you @Notaclue08, and we heard back on Monday 1st March.

@doesanybodyhaveamap I think it's two months since we submitted the video so it does feel like a long time - but hopefully it won't be long now until we are put out of our misery!

@minimits it must have been gutting for your son and the children who got selected last year but couldn't do the show. I hope they all get the chance again this year!

Glad to see more in the waiting room...think will wait and see next Monday and if I’ve still not heard then email in. Ive already had to email them before applying so don’t want to appear pushy/demanding! Just wish I’d heard by now !

@chuffedtolittlemintballs glad he enjoyed it! And even if he doesn’t get in this time-don’t give up! DS was also 12 when he first auditioned and he finally successful last year at 16. Sadly of course he didn’t get to perform but he’s hopeful for this year. Follow your dreams! And welcome to the waiting room. Hopefully there are drinks somewhere...

@Alakazam8 can you tell if your videos have been viewed? You could always email them and check all ok. I’m sure they would not mind if you explain it’s your first time using upload method etc.

Hi everyone. My DS (12) had his audition for NYMT on the first weekend of workshops. It was his first time trying out for NYMT. He really enjoyed the workshop and came out happy but not hopeful to proceed to the next round - I think that was mainly due to finding some of the dance workshop challenging and being a bit more reserved than he would be in a face to face workshop. I was just really proud of him for doing his best and keeping going - the age range in his workshop went from 10/11 to early 20s, which is probably representative of the age range of some of the companies NYMT puts together, and so the dance needs to be challenging for all of them, I guess. Similar to what @doesanybodyhaveamap says, he found one part of the dance workshop more challenging that the other, so it sounds like there was a balance.

I think it might be another couple of weeks at least until we hear something, so I hope you don't mind me joining you in the waiting room!

Yes, I would let them know of an injury as it may impact on her ability to take part in the dance.

Thank you so much for the info, it’s really helpful. Do you think I should let them know ahead that she has an injury -fell of her skateboard last week and ended up at hospital. No broken bones just some ligament damage. She was given crutches but has not used them this week and is insisting it is all fine but she has a massive bruise on foot, ankle and leg.

Totally agree @Triflefan. This opportunity seems to be another piece of normality for them.
It does make it harder to wait for the audition results (for me) as there isn’t much else going on at the moment. Been wondering, if I’ve made a mistake with sending the links to the videos, as it’s the first time I’ve used the method I used, would they let me know or would it rule dd’s application out?
I probably need to just forget about it at least until next Monday!
However I can see how much dd will get out of it, especially after how positive people are on here, so am really keeping my fingers crossed.
Is there anyone else still waiting for the result of a performers audition?

I so want their lives to be back to normal.

Thanks @Biscuitsneeded that's really useful. My DD is more singer/actor. She can dance but I think it will be the bit she is the least confident with.

I don't think it's the case that the dance is really impossible. It's quite challenging, but DS, who is an OK dancer for a boy but nothing amazing, could do it all in practice; it's just harder to understand when being taught on zoom and then when it was his turn the lag meant the music glitched and it threw him. I think what's really important to remember is they just want to see them move. The steps probably aren't as important as the enthusiasm and performance! There will be dancer kids who can do it all perfectly and that may be intimidating to some others, but those are the kids they may cast in the dancer roles in the show that has quite a bit of dance. Not being amazing at dance has never prevented anyone from doing NYMT if they are right in other ways. So tell your kids not to panic if there are any hiccups, as it's just a way of finding the really great dancers for the shows that need them, I suspect! I would say that not being able to act or not being able to sing would be a bigger problem and they have no problems working with inexperienced dancers as long as they will give it a go.

Nothing here either- have noticed they’ve extended the deadline for choir for tenor and bass voices. Doesn’t impact dd but might affect others. Hope we hear soon- just want to know either way!

Nothing here. Ds has forgotten about it at the moment and is just excited to be back at college. He’s working on his genre assignment which is to take a piece of music from one genre and turn it into another.

So the Main Theme from Avengers by Alan Silvestri is being turned into a rock guitar and synth piece!
