NYMT / BYMT 2021

Welcome to the recent joiners. What's really nice is that this waiting room isn't at all cliquey and everyone is supportive of each others' DC. It's actually just like the Pret a manger round the corner from where NYMT recalls usually happen and anxious parents hang out! (Although Pret doesn't offer gin; perhaps we should suggest that if ever get back there.)

For the rollcall: DS who is about to be 16 this weekend has applied for NYMT stage performer, did his zoom workshop in Feb and is waiting for news. He's done NYMT a few times before but doesn't feel any more confident of success than he did when was 10 - in fact the stakes feel higher each year as he loves it so much.

Hi all. New to the group so just wanted to pop on and say hi. The info on other posts has been really helpful to understand the process a little more. My dd 14 has applied as Stage Performer and for the Stage Choir. Heard yesterday she has Zoom audition this Sunday. We applied on the deadline day, so could possibly be the last audition weekend? Has anyone else applied for the choir? We have not heard anything about that audition but presume the timings may be similar to musicians? Sorry I do tend to waffle on. X

Definitely is a bar-otherwise don’t know where I got that lovely g and t I had to celebrate dd getting through first stage last night- and maybe a spa area is needed too!

NYMT stage performer audition workshop waiting for outcome

BYMT stage performer, did workshop so waiting for outcome. Not hopefully as she feels she messed up

Got confirmation today of a bit funding so yay!!

We’re waiting on NYMT Zoom recall result and BYMT final result (both as performer). So maybe a small 2-seater sofa for us? 😂😂

Yes it’s an unknown as to wether his will have an actual audience or not! Really hoping it can go ahead with a socially distanced audience in June. I know last year’s was just filmed. We can but hope.

The MT students at ds's college did a filmed show without an audience at Christmas (as did ds for his music performance Btec). I know the MT's are not doing a show this year but are rehearsing extracts. It's not known whether this will be filmed or in front of a live audience.

Dd is in her grad year of a L6 Trinity Diploma in MT and we are not sure if any actual shows will go ahead this year or just filming.

It’s for his MT Btec so it has to really! He’s been pretending to be a rabbit in his bedroom this morning! Oh the joys.

I'm impressed at a school show going ahead!

He’s also waiting for NYT first round results but not optimistic.

Please tell me this waiting room has a bar, DS is struggling with his fourth isolation and is terrified he’ll end up isolating the week of his school show when he’s one of the leads. So so stressful!!!

I count myself incredibly lucky that last October we got to see Songs for a New World (I will never forget the atmosphere in the Palladium that day as they sang the opening line A new world calls across the ocean) and also The Last Five Years at Southwark playhouse

I'm so desperate for theatre I'd even go and see Cats at this point!

Am considering Chicago on 17th May as that's the nearest to me, earliest show scheduled.

@Comefromaway fingers crossed it won’t be too long now.
DS’s college are still 1/2 and 1/2 online and face to face but he’s asked to have all his English lessons face to face because he was aware he was switching off.
@doesanybodyhaveamap you need a whole chaise! St least it’s be a comfy wait!
Just the one application this year. If he’s unsuccessful he may look at some local youth projects but I’m not sure they’re running this year around here. I reckon the theatres need to get the money coming in.

We are only waiting for NYMT she has done the zoom workshop so waiting for results. This is the first year she has tried out, you definitely need a chaise waiting for your 4 options! I just need the one seat

Ds is at home this week. HIs college is operating on a rota basis, one week in, one week off.

We are still waiting video audition results but it was for musician, not stage peformer so a while to go yet.

I can’t begin to tell you how much college being back has lifted the mood in our house. DS is quite honestly an easy teen but he was so down. Having this next stage to focus on now is such a bonus. I’m feeling optimistic about life returning to normal.
I even managed to get to Tesco after dropping him at the station this morning and still be home to log into work at 9AM!
Seems I need structure too!

So are we all in receipt of news so far? Now we all await the results of the workshop auditions it are any of us still waiting on video audition results?
I keep nipping in when I’m in the middle of something and then I miss things!
